For one thing, washing twice a day may strip too much of your natural hair oils. Which can cause your glands to produce more oils because it wants to compensate. This can lead to greasy hair. It'll be a per person situation though. It can dry out your scalp. Etc.

I have been washing my hair twice a day since the 6th grade. I have tried the once a day and my hair would be greasy and itchy that it's just a dirty feeling. I wished I can get by just once a day or every other day. No such luck.

I have to wash once every other day. If I washed twice a day every day, my hair would dry out. I use to go once a week. Lol sounds gross, but it helps with growing out your hair.

I wash my hair every other day bc I’m losing too much hair. I was told to just wash my face once a day so I won’t wash all the oil on my face.

Your hair gets oily that fast because it’s so used to you washing your hair twice a day and it’s so dry that it’s overproducing oil. I used to wash my hair everyday cause it get so oily but then I started to wash every other day and my hair got used to it and now my hair takes like a day or two to get oily. Just try to slow down to once a day and then slow down more

It's hard because during the summer Texas is so hot that without washing twice daily is a challenge. I heard washing it 2-3 times a week is good for hair to grow faster. What about dry shampoo...anyone tried that?

My hair gets oily really fast if I wash more than once a day or everyday, so I wash it every other day or 2. I think it has to do with the production of oil in your hair. Don't want to over overproduce them.

Try dry shampoo to start getting used to not washing as much. Obviously it’s never gonna work as well as a real shower but it still helps more than not washing at all. What I would do when I needed a break from washing my hair all the time was I would not wash my hair the whole weekend if I wasn’t going anywhere. Trust me, once you start doing that your hair won’t get oilier as fast

I wash my hair once a week and kid you not, my hair doesn't start to get oily til the morning of the 7th day. Im not just saying that either lol..i used to wash every day for so long and yeah my hair dries out and falls like crazy. I had to spend so much on conditioning and scalp mask products.

Now i just use Olaplex hair repair and conditioner once a week. People kept asking how i manage to keep my hair so long (waist length) and healthy. I dont use dry shampoo either cus i dont know how to us them. However when i do vigorous activitiesor during 100+ temp weeks, i do end up having 2 wash days.

So jealous of you girls that's able to do that. I colored my hair so much that it kind of messes my hair and scalp. My scalp has gotten so dry and itchy if I don't wash them daily. When I don't wash it at night, it's itchy all night long. Early on I was obsessed with hair color now it's catching up to me.

Not washing helps grow hair faster. At least for me it was like that. My hair was up to my butt and I just chopped it all off the other day lol I needed a change. It’s up to the middle of my tatas now. But yeah I would recommend trying dry shampoo and seeing how you like it :)

@byebye i recommend Olaplex #3 for hair repair and Olaplex #5 for regular conditioning. I color my hair every 16 weeks and it is the only product keeping my hair healthy.

Every weekend, I heat up some coconut oil in the microwave and massage it all into my head. I sleep with oil-ed up hair overnight and wash it off with shampoo the next day. I think it'll really help with your dry scalp. Try this method at least once a week!

@mayag...I used to do that when I was younger but just used coconut oil already in a bottle. I am afraid now it would make my hair more greasy. @KitKat516 can I get them on Amazon? Never heard of it before. Amazon seemed to have everything.

I don't think it will make your hair more greasy since you're replacing the sebum that you don't seem to have enough of.

@byebye i would find a salon that carries them or go to their website. I never buy salon grade products from Amazon cus for some reason their quality isn't the same even if its the exact same brand.
