Here is a quick low down on what the new jukebox is all about.
First this is how you register.
Click on the first
link and it'll take you to a page where you can create your password for the jukebox site.You can click on the smilies face or http://music.sarnworld.com:4040
Now login to the Jukebox site with your username and the newly created password.
Here are some of the things you can do with the jukebox.
Create a Playlist
First go through the albums and add the songs you want by clicking on the + and grow your list
Now click on the Save option.
You can call the playlist whatever you want but I would prefer if you put your username in the front. Right now all the playlists are by default PUBLIC so they are shared among all of us until a future version of this jukebox. The great thing is that we can listen to each other playlists.
Loading the playlist would be a similar process.
Downloading the playlist
OK for downloading, I would prefer it if people don't abuse it. By clicking on download, your browser WILL download a zip file with ALL the SONGS in the PLAYLIST. I would rather people download 10 to 12 songs (album size) at one time. If there is a large playlist, just cut it down to a reasonable amount and click on download.
Another way to download is from the album view.
Everyone also has the ability to Fix the tags (if its bad) and also to link album pictures. You can also make threads on this forum with album pics and I or those with permission can upload the album pics so that it'll be more permanently linked.
Uploading songs
Uploading is for those with upload rights. PM me if you're interested. The nice thing is, once the file is uploaded, people will be able to stream it and also download the songs. I need help with building this collection up so let me know if you want to help.
Uploading songs is easy but the best way to do is to zip up the album name inside an artist name. If you just zip up the album folder then when you upload just put the artist name in the path. You can see the examples below.
First click on the "More" tab on the top. Next browse to the zipped up file (I've already zipped mine in an artist folder).
The default is /home/thai/incoming which needs to be changed. Since the zip file I'm uploading is japanese, I changed it accordingly.
Click on upload and wait for it to get done. That should be it and our collective collection grows.
There are more things but I think I'll continue later.
Remember that if you have iphone or android phones there are some free/paid apps that you can use to connect to our server "music.sarnworld.com:4040" and listen to the songs/playlist.
