Update on Pat Patson Sarindu

POPE's #1 MIA LUANG
I know he's kind of off the radar in lakorn terms, but he's still around doing I don't know what. Haha. Anyway, here's a very recent show that he's been on; it's on Channel 2. I have no idea what the name of the show is or what its purpose is, but I do know that Pat's in it. :ghehe: So for those few fans in here who are wondering what's up with him nowadays, catch him here! He's aged, but still possesses that handsome face AND that charming smile! And I learned from watching part one that he's 100% Thai. HEHE.

I can't translate everything, but I can summarize certain topics that they touched upon, so I added some point summaries. Hehe. Mahalo, or anyone else who understands Thai, if you guys want to add any translations/summaries feel free to!

Part 1
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pshnu29nf-4
- Pat's 100% Thai.
- Because he grew up in America, he only knew very basic Thai like: "Where's the bathroom?" "I love you."
- Even though he didn't want to stop being pra'ek, his popularity slowly faded like how it would naturally.
- The host mentioned lukreung and Nadech, I don't know why.
- She also asked why Pat stayed quiet by himself, to which he answered "I'm not sure either."
- Pat's Thai got corrected multiple times.

Part 2
http://youtu.be/u9KvXikg1nI
- He didn't have a nickname, but came to Thailand and people just started calling Pat.
- What is lookjang?
- They spoke about his modeling, not sure of the details.
- He's 40 and commented on how he's old enough to be playing a father.

Part 3
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b7nhCiGe6Z4
- When he has a gf he loves her only, and when he's single he talks to many hence the player image he received.
- Pat said something funny to the host or teased the host, but not sure what exactly he said.
- He's a true man, loves women, and was once accused of being gay.
- His last gf was a non celebrity, not sure if that's his current gf or not.
- He doesn't look for beauty in his woman, but if she's beautiful that's a bonus.
- Someone close to his ideal type would be someone who's...talented? He used tennis as a metaphor. And the term is "qui keng." "qui" as in "talk" and "keng" as in "talented?"
- His career has not gone down, but instead it's plateued and is steady.
- Not sure if this is his real life experience or just him teasing himself in regards to his age in Thai lakorn world, but he talked about how a kid came up to him to get a picture, not because the kid itself was a fan, but because the mom wanted it.
- Some words of advice from Pat to kids (I think): study hard and work hard, or in other words study and work meaningfully.

CR: thaich2

The host seems to be smitten with Pat. Haha.

He looks good for his age. He can pass a a man in his early 30s.

He is one of the pure Thai breed actor that I really adore lol that sound so mess up, pure Thai breed.

It's kind of sad that they had to use YT clips for his lakorn with Namfon K lol

Pure Thai breed. Haha. As messed up as it sounds, it's the truth.

I know right?! I was like, okay that's a pretty crappy version of the lakorn. You'd think they'd get a copy of the original since they are a tv show. Haha. It's so sad that all old lakorns are forever bad quality since Thai producers never took the initiative to make nice quality copies....or perhaps they do have them, but just aren't sharing! Haha.

Omg, this was such a fun interview! Thanks Phatman for sharing. I didn't expect his personality to be this fun. He has such a great sense of humor. How about that smile! He still makes my heart flutter. I was blushing throughout this whole interview. I loved his reaction to how the host reacted after he said he's 40 now. He pulls off sarcasm well. He's so freakin' handsome still. I'm beyond speechless. I can't believe he had a bad boy image back in the day. They all thought he was a player because he talked to many girls at a time, which is normal in the American culture. He's from America so I wouldn't be surprised that he did that. To him, it was important to have his options opened and see which girl is the right one for him. Well, I guess he is kind of a player because when I talk to someone, I only talk to one person at a time. Lol. Bad Pat!

Thanks Phatman! Too bad I can't understand what they're saying. I adore Patson when he was still in the lakorn world. He was my favorite actor and I would watch any lakorn of his back in the day. My most favorite of his is still the first lakorn he starred with Ning and least is the lakorn with Bau. Wish he had starred in a lot more lakorns when he was younger. He still look good at that age.

Apparently, Pat stopped acting because he couldn't read or write Thai. He couldn't speak it very well either because he grew up in America. He was more fluent in English.  Pat mentioned how he had to rewrite all his scripts in English so he would know how to enunciate the words in Thai. It was double the work for him to act. Poor him! He didn't fit in well because he was more Americanized. Now the industry is saturated with luk kruengs. Isn't that ironic? That was what the host commented on. The host is rude because this show is known to address some of the most scandalous stars and scandals. She tends to be very direct with her questions. She was surprisingly much nicer to Pat during this interview compared to others. Only because she probably had the hots for him. HAHA. Pat was playing around by flirting with her also.

Such a tiring job for Pat then.. :(  So much stuff he had to do... as well as fitting into the Thai society/culture...

I knew Pat spent most of his years in America but I had never heard him speak English. Maybe in lakorns a word or two but that's about it.

Pat's actually American. He was born and raised in Atlanta, Georgia.  He also mentions this in the interview. Here's a clip Phatman shared with me. Lol. He speaks English at the 18:50 mark.

I added some rough translations. Feel free to correct me everyone!
One of the main reasons why he stopped pursuing acting was the language barrier. He also said that acting wasn't as stable of a career as it is today. Back then, it was hard to receive work. Once you finished filming a lakorn, you had to wait to be contacted for another lakorn in contrast with today, where actors have multiple events, become product presenters, and receive many magazine photo-shoots one after another right after they're done filming lakorns. So for him, it was important to make a career switch before it was too late. He didn't want to risk continuing acting and have his p'ek status fade away from p'ek to villain roles, to supporting roles, and eventually father roles. Therefore, he thought about the future and switched to being an entrepreneur instead. Also, his parents spoke Thai to him at home, but he'd always reply to them in English. So he only knew the basics of Thai like you said.

"Lookjang" means employee. He stopped acting and became a "lookjang" and "kin ngern deun" (survived on a monthly salary). People at the company were shock to see a famous actor become their co-worker. Instead of being all glammed up and famous, he was now average status and also working for someone else. Hence the word "lookjang" which means "hired to work" or "employee".

The host mentioned Nadech because he was comparing this generation's star status to his generation. It was difficult for Pat to make it in the industry because he was westernized. He can be considered to be in the same category as luk kreungs or a farang (mixed children or heritage) since he speaks more English than Thai and grew up abroad. But today, luk kruengs have taken over the industry like Nadech, who is half Thai and half Austrian. They don't have a hard time making it, even with the language barrier because they learn Thai and become better speakers and actors. It's an advantage to be mixed or foreign. So why can't Pat be as successful? Pat said he didn't want to invest time into learning Thai back then. He tried learning at a Thai temple in America and it was difficult. Lol.

When he first arrived to Thailand, he didn't have a nickname like everyone else.  He gave himself the nickname Pat Patson. Haha. As for the magazine part, the host said that Pat first caught her attention in a racy photo-shoot where he had his shirt unbuttoned and chest showing. That was apparently racy back then. Lol. Pat said that wasn't planned. During one of the photo-shoots, the shirt was unbuttoned and the photographer asked him to take test shots of him being shirtless. They said it won't be in the magazine, but when the magazine came out, it was one of the photos they used. Lol. Poor Pat got taken advantage of. He said he wasn't daring to do such thing on purpose versus now and days where people intentionally have wardrobe malfunctions or do racy photos to gain fame. You go Pat!

As for his age, he commented on how his p'ek status days are over, but he's not done with acting. If anyone is interested in hiring him, please contact him after seeing the interview. He also told them to contact his manager. Lol. He was actually surprised that more people knew him abroad. Thus why he talked about the kid asking to take a photo with him. He asked the kid if he knew who he was. The kid said he didn't but he only wanted a picture because his mom forced him to go take one since she didn't have the courage to ask herself. Lol. So the parents tend to know who he is.

About his love life, he was very open to answering questions to a certain extent to what the questions were. He is talking to someone outside of the industry. They've been talking and studying each other for 3 months. He had a player image (jao choo) back in the day because he liked to "talk" to many women at the same time, but that doesn't make him a player. He is a one-heart and one woman man. So he was trying to explain the American way to the host by saying that when you're single, you'd talk to many people to see if you're compatible with them. You ween out the ones you're not compatible with to eventually find the right woman to ask out to make her your official girlfriend. Once he finds her, she's the only one for him. The host said she understood what he was saying, but how many did he talk to at a time? That's when Pat laughed it off. He then asked the host if she/he had a significant other yet and initiated that they "cope" each other just to joke around with the word "cope" which tends to mean date in Thai, but Pat was using it to refer to the "talking" phase before starting a relationship. The host then blushed and called Pat a player (jao choo).

As for his type, he likes a woman who "koy geng" (talkative) because he's a talkative person himself. He uses tennis as an example to having a conversation. If he hits the ball to someone, he'd like them to hit the ball back to him. It wouldn't be fun if he hit the ball by himself with no one returning the serve. Lol. In other words, it's not fun for him to only do the talking. His type of woman doesn't have to be beautiful, but it wouldn't hurt for her to be attractive. She doesn't have to be rich either because he's the type of person who likes to build together. Awww, my man! I'm super in love with his answers. Then he goes on to say that being rich would be a bonus. Haha. He also said people thought he was gay because he doesn't know how to dance. So when he danced, he gave off a gay vibe. He even showed the host how he'd dance. LOL. He's so cute.

The host asked him very personal questions. She asked if he "fun lao ting" ( hit it and leave). LOL. She asked Pat if he knew what that phrase meant? He said brush your teeth and throw it away jokingly which is similar in context to the true meaning. Then he said it means that you'd sleep with one person and then leave them after you get what you want. Pat said it's not his fault. The girls initiated it. The host said you cannot do that. The girls lost their virginity and will be scarred because of him. Pat then said he's just joking. He's not like that. Then he joked with the host and said he "fun lao ting" the host that's why the host is upset. LOL. The host was cracking up and blushing. Then Pat apologized. Lol. I find it funny that he is so playful and flirty with the host who is gay. That just shows how silly he is. He's not very uptight about anything .

Finally, have women ever offered themselves to him for free?" Pat was very embarrassed to answer the question. He even became red, blushed, and smiled widely because it was such a direct question. He eventually told the host of course, there were many. Some even were willing to carry his baby. But he never took the offers because who would? He's not that type. It's an atrocious thing to do. At the end, he told children to stay in school and stuff. That was about it. I remembered this whole interview without referring back to it because Pat made such an impression on me to remember him. He's special. Lol.
