`my dragon's blood is blue`
We all watch A LOT of dramas,
so here's a thread to rant about them. :nut:

Instead of posting our rants in various places,
post them here.

[
i.e. cdramas, kdramas, taiwanese, jdramas, turkish, filipino, bollywood; w/e floats your boat]

This is so we don't have to make new threads for dramas that might have little following.

:cheer:

I am currently watching several dramas that don't have threads.
I wanted to rant about some but wasn't sure where to post my thoughts, lol

Anyway, atm I am watching, 'TO BE WITH YOU'. It's a cdrama.

FL has this bff who she went to uni with and they were so cute together but as soon as FL introduced the bff to ML, the love [tri-er-square] started. It's a complicated love-square thing...

So this bff drops out of uni to follow her heart to try to pursue ML, but during that time FL n ML got closer and began their relationship. GUESS WHAT BFF DID... she tried to discourage FL from dating ML....:confused12: This bissshhh really said, 'you should reconsider. I don't think you two are compatible.' WHAT KIND OF FRIEND DOES THAT WITH ULTERIOR MOTIVES. I would understand if it was like a situation where the bff wasn't shady trying to steal ML.... like, sorry you like him too but honey, he ain't for you to begin with.

end of my rant for now. :risas3:

Idk what kind of crack cdrama writers be on but sometimes I don't think the leads deserve to be together.

Chinese webdramas are the worse when it comes to nonsense drama but I love a few of them. It's so bad that it's so good or it's so bad you want to continue to see how much worse it can get.

My biggest pet peeve is the dubbing! Chinese dramas have Chinese character subtitles so the dubbing is really unnecessary.

Was it 10 years ago? Anyway I was in charge of the Korean and Chinese thread but they have so much in a year that it was hard for me to keep up. I went MIA for 5 years and now trying to clean it up again.

@fun I think it's so bad I want to see how much worse it can get lol sometimes it's so frustrating I just drop the series. If the leads are really good, I endure through the nonsense.

The dubbing at first bothered me but I'm used to it now. I try not to focus on their mouth when they talk. I grew up watching Chinese wuxia series dubbed in Thai. :risas3: I can say nothing is as bad as that. Lol

I thought having this thread would kind of let ppl share what random shows they watch without needing to create a silent thread.

Dubbing didn't bothered me before, I did watch a handful back when I was younger especially Hong Kong films (dub in my language) and animes (dub in English). When I got older and understand that they don't speak the same language, I was devastated especially finding out Sailor Moon, Dragonball and Pokemon were not original American shows. I started to venture out to anime especially shojo and watched them in their original language.

My very distant cousin use to watch Thai dub Chinese drama. He is way much older than I am by one generation. I was not interested in watching Chinese drama Thai dub that he had on every time I went over to play. But Asian films dub in English is probably the worse for me. Anyway for Thai dub, why do they use that voice. You know what voice I'm talking about lol

@fun LOL! The voice! I know what you're talking about and I've always wondered that too! Funny thing is, Thai lakorns from 25+ years ago use to dub their actors too. They used "those voices". Idk maybe that's why their voice actors use the same method to dub Chinese shows too. :risas3:

It may be a similar reason why Chinese dubs their actors. It's like a standard clear tone and dialect that everyone will understand?

@alissaax Now that's hilarious! I think I've seen some in passing but I knew that was weird. I can't take it seriously if I watched a modern show being dubbed in Thai.

I'm watching this scene and it's used pretty often.

Where the n'rai finds out ML deceived her the same way n'rai did to FL. NR gets emotional and blames everyone except herself for deluding. She suddenly feels injustice like how can anyone deceive her! :risas3:

I'm like: Hahahaha! Taste your own medicine girl!

My only rant on dramas, particularly Thai lakorns is lack of accessibility for international users. One reason why Korean dramas are popular overseas is because most dramas are subbed and can be watched online and as for lakorns we can only rely to subbers. Thai channels thought that Thai stars don't have international fans.

In my home country Philippines, I am sick of the same storylines and plots just with different casting and title. And the love team culture needs to stop too. Same thing goes with remaking dramas.

I totally agree! There are a lot of lakorns with English subtitles but are not from the main 2 channels (Ch3 and Ch7).

Uploading and making money off of free fansub does suck and unfair. Other than that, if it is credited and free for others, I wouldn't mind people reuploading. And it would be a good thing, because it would allow more people to join the bandwagon. That was how it started with Kdramas.

I'm at the tail end of ELOD...

How is Dijun such a romanticist and a baby at the same time? He's such a mood.

There is A LOT of confusion in this (season) because of all the layers of stories on top of stories.

I thought S1 EL was extreme. This is another level.

After finishing ELOD, (which is good btw 7.5/10) I started Skate Into Love.

SIL is a light romcom. Lots of one side crushes/love within all the cast. This should have been called, Skate Into Unrequited Love.

Anyway, why does every cdrama involve a break up scene between OTP. It's so overplayed.

So I'm currently watching Kiralik Ask (Turkish drama) with 69 episodes like lol how many days do I need to finish this??? The series is funny and the casts are doing a good job.

My rant with Turkish dramas is that they are cancelling dramas if it has low ratings I think it is a waste of time and effort to film and them cancel it after a few episodes.

Some Turkish dramas have english subtitles which is a good thing. Like come on, international fans count too. It can also boost tourism if a foreign series is popular outside the country.

What annoys me with dramas in general is that some subbers make money off subbing before we can view the series they have subbed.
