I must confess that "Bie The Star" is the new generation Y of the Thai music industry.
Many are still in disbelief that such program was able to change the entire outlook of the Thai music scene recently. It managed to capture numerous audiences and the counts still continues.

I’ve hardly followed “The Star 3” contest, never watched “Roy Ardeed Hang Rak” The most, I’ve seen “Hua Jai SiLa” a couple of times when I accidentally tuned to the channel on some faithful nights. Soon after that, I was rather amazed to hear about his first album and the news about him (Bie-Sukrit Wisetkaew).

Most of people who have gone through the singing contests in the last 20 years or so have received much negative criticism that they will never really made it to become a star. You can count how many who have really made it.

“The Star 3” began on air at the beginning of 2006.

Bie (His name means dragonfly), then a second year engineering student at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, joined the contests with little preparation. With him was only the passion for the music, he is just one of the young enthusiast with big dream and the love for singing. He didn’t have any background on singing nor dancing whatsoever.

A plain 20 years old teenager from a rural town of Chiangmai, was then just another unadorned contestant. He was nowhere near being attractive. His singing was off key with strange dance moves. Somehow he managed to enter the final 8 contestants of the show.

During those two months, “The star 3” stage has transformed Bie-Sukirt to a fine young teenager with an eye-catching look. Although, his singing and dancing skills were not impressive, but still, he managed to draw the attention and support from his fans and voters to enter the finale.

One week before the finale, there was an unfortunate event involving Bie’s photo scandal that seemed to cause a negative view about him. At the end, R Nattaphon, a talented rock singer from the northeast, was voted “The Star 3 Champion” from the fans all over the country. At that point in time, everyone seems to agree silently that Bie might be more successful than R, even though he was not the champion. That was because of his outlook and attitude that seemed to be able to capture the hearts of his fans.

The champion, R was awarded the contract with GMM Grammy and released his first rock album called R-Positive. While Bie was given a chance from the producer and owner of “The Star 3” program, Khun Boyd Thakolkiet, to act in his first drama called “Roy Ardeed Hang Rak” together with Miew, another contestant from “The Star 3”. Bie was then a new rising star actor. The drama received a considerable good rating.

His lead role in the drama lifted his image to become a fresh, handsome and attractive young man.

However, the making of the drama was really easier said than done. The whole drama took about 4 months in the production. It was the first drama for the brand new actor who has absolutely no ideas on how to act. One can imagine how difficult it would be for an amateur star, a country teenager who only wants to be a singer.

The first three months in the production of his first drama was not easy. He was scolded almost daily during the making. It could be because of the drama’s director was Thakolkiet Veerawan, who is known to be very strict, demanding and a perfectionist.

Bie said in an interview that he was told off many times during the acting. Sometimes the words were really harsh, that even his parents have never said to him that way. He even cried several times when he was given a cruel scolding as his acting was not up to the director’s expectation. There were periods when the thought of giving up often came to his mind.

In life, there are times when you encountered some difficulties, it is your choice whether you choose to confront or avoid those obstacles.

The pressure ran high in the production team. As there are hundreds of people working in a production of one such drama, everyone was enthusiastically waiting for him to complete each scene successfully. As a lead role, he naturally appeared in most scenes. The director needs to ensure a good quality of work in every episode. If there are many scenes that need to be repeated, you can imagine the working atmosphere on those days and no one can stop working until the director was happy with the scene he was taking.

Despite all these heart wrenching moments, Bie chose to continue, he learnt that “doing his best” is the only way to warrant the success of the whole production team and he was very well aware that he can not fail those hundreds of crew team behind the scene whom they put their hearts in to do their best to ensure the success of the drama and of course, Bie, himself.

The role of "Ton Nam" in the drama, received some criticism that the acting was too rigid and needs some improvements. However there were many fans who are willing to give him and the new actress all their support. The two drama’s Ost sung by Bie (Sai Pai Mai and Tad Jai Mai Wai) were very well received by the fans and become the hits on the radio channels. The drama ends well with the news of his first album “Love scene”.

Many thought that the two songs from the drama Ost will serve as an introduction to make it easier for him to open himself to the music industry.

Little would have imagined that a freshly new pop song called “I need somebody” is indeed a perfect opening for him in a music arena. The song became an overnight sensation. It was certainly the top on many charts for months.

At the end of 2006, Sukrit Wisetkaew, has finally become a popular pop star singer with a unique dance move (waving his hands as a heart shape) familiar to everyone in town.

Together with the glory and popularity, there is always scandal that follows the celebrities, Bie is no exception.

Many said Bie’s popularity was mainly due to the helping hand from his big boss from Exact Scenario, Khun Boyd Thakolkiet as he was called “Khun Boyd’s favourite son”.

Another scandal shocking the kingdom was the rumours of him being gay and so on, and so forth, which up till now he might not even remember all the rumours about him.

As one of the best selling artists in Thailand right now, there is always someone watching over every move he has. That is definitely a changed on a life of once a simple teenager like him.

Sukrit Wiusetkaew today is a ‘Hot” popular star, as well as soon-to-be “Super Star”. So popular that wherever he walked, there always are some people looking at him, or girls chased after him… also have bonded fans.

From a plain young guy.. to be popular star, how can he handle such fame, honor, wealth and Criticism (both bad and good), that came across rapidly.

Sukrit Wiusetkaew definitely had no such experience. However, because of the good breeding background from his mother who was a teacher, the normal childhood and his personal good humored and good attitude help him a lot.

Bie always told reporters that …he was just a normal young guy who got a very good opportunity to follow his dream. He would not obsess with any bad news as it’s only news and he knew what he was doing. He would put full effort and did the best in every thing as being taught by his parents. And, he frequently said smiley that….. I am just a simply guy.

Moreover, Exact, his original affiliation, would not let the one and only singer faced this problem alone (Seemed that at that time Bie Sukrit was the one and only of EXACT under Bee Bar)

Rumors, aspersion, news…..

Bie might never faced tons of rumors, maybe not even imagine about it, but EXACT definitely had this experience before. Rumors, caused from mass media, also can be solved by using mass media. While some news lasts only daily, or easy comes and easy goes, others have lots of impact.
With the good suggestion and support from his boss and experience from other celebrity on how to handle the rumor, Bie can manage to pass such tough time, grow up and understand the star world clearer (he should realize that this is only the beginning as he will be more famous and of course more rumor about him) . This will help him to cope with the case when he is more and more well known in the future

Bie has a Sit-com, Nat Kub Nat, staring with R –The Star

As the “Nut Kub Nut” became more popular and more fans follow this series overwhelmingly, EXACT and GMM Grammy finally decided to launch new co-album “R& Bie “ Special Nut” for these two stars from THE STAR stage. The new song “Call to Say Love (Thor Ma Var Rak)” in this album listed in several the Top Charts Music.

Followed ”Call to Say Love”, EXACT continued with the new drama, “Heart of Stone (Hua Jai Sila)”, the popular kiss-and-slap kind of drama with the sexy model Metinee as co-star and Pichaya as main actress.

”Heart of Stone” got the good feed back and rating enough to send the Ost, “Your Heart (Hua Jai Kong Ter)” and “Only having you (Kor Kae Me Ter)” to the Top Chart Music again.

It’s quite unexpected when, two months after this drama, BIE had an opportunity to move one step further in his career path by performing an important role in the musical of the year, The Cloud Throne (Ban Lunk Mek). Bie took Pakorn role, the youngest son of Pan Roong, the leader actress, performed by Sinjai – one of the top professional actresses.

Stage drama was new and tough to Bie, especially for the musical, which not only perform but also sing with the professional actors and actresses.

Some criticisms that The Cloud Throne (Ban Lunk Mek) – 2007 was modified Pakorn role to be more outstanding especially for Bie Surkrit.
The new song for Pakorn, The Important Person (Kon Sam Kan) seemed to be more dominant than the leading song of the play (in previous performance), “The unimportant person (Kon Mai Sam Kan)”.

Some criticisms.. both sarcastic and admirable, led The Cloud Throne (Ban Lunk Mek) performed total of 47 performances and finally get the good feed back and big achievement in both business senses and admiration. It’s the good tactic of Boy-Takonkiet, the big boss of Exact, to bring new target group, teenagers who adore Bie – The star, to enjoy this musical, The Cloud Throne (Ban Lunk Mek)

Believe me that several teenagers or parents who was dragged by his/her kids to see Ban Lunk Mek were the first-time ever for musical. In every performance, there were applauds or the admiration for Bie. This was not mean that he had an excellent performance but.. maybe because it’s not below-than-expected standard.

Or may be no one expected that he can sing terrifically. Most expected that there would be some minor error or flaw as Bie’s style, but there was no such error on this stage. The great voice and correct pronunciation, though there were some other professional actors with more powerful voice on the same stage, made people support him for his hard work. As this was beyond-expectation performance, no harsh criticisms, there was only admiration and applauds this time.

As Bie can sing better, though not that excellent but big improvement in both play and singing from the hard working, he got several admirers, (or fanclubs) and good feedback. The song, The Important Person (Kon Sam Kan), was remembered and surprisingly led to Top Chart Music again.

October 2007.. , The Cloud Throne (Ban Lunk Mek) – The musical was sold in CD.

However, the hot guy like Bie, always in the interest.. Late 2007, Heart Rhythm (Jun Wa Hua Jai) the first single of the second album was promoted through several radio stations and hit overnight.

Heart Rhythm (Jun Wa Hua Jai) with terrific dance style.

Right hand to draw the heart shape.. so amazing.

Early 2008, second album.. I love you too.. was successfully launched in late January.

Mini Concert for the album launched was organized magnificently at Ratchadalai Theatre. The special VCD of this mini concert was later on sales as special album – Mini Concert : Bie I love you too. With this second album, Bie had more professional dance with clearer step.

The next popular song was SOMEONE, the slow romantic song with cute impressive dancing style made the song so popular.

Early 2008 was his second year after joining the entertainment society.

Two years seemed not so long but it was two years with lots of good memories for the one who loved Bie – The star. Two year of his tangible prosperity

Because of the popular of Heart Rhythm and the success of the second album, several person looked for the full concert of Bie Sukrit. Some other though about full concert at Impact Areana Muangtong Thanee.

The place that seemed out of reach.

But.. if it’s Bie's solo concert, wherever is OK..
