Coming on too strong

If a guy says that you are coming on too strong... what do you reply back to him? Does that mean there is no chance he will hook up with you?

I guess I wasn't aware I was coming on too strong with him... but I was drunk too. BAD IDEA!!! Anyways, if he's no longer interested, I now know I shouldn't meet up with a guy when I'm drunk and I should be aware of coming on too strong.

Have you experienced this before? Or what is your advice about

I think it means he needs some time. Maybe things were going too fast and he's not ready.
