*COMPLETED* Fah Likit Ruk (Heaven Destined Love)- END [6/25/14]

Chapter Three

By nightfall, Prin's fever had subsided, converting his state of agonizing pain to loads of relief. He woke up and checked his watch for the actual time, wondering if it was the same time as the future. The only source of time was that watch on his wrist and his iPhone. His phone! He could use it to try and call the others at the campsite.
"Where is it?" Prin asked himself, searching around the room for it.
"What are you looking for?"
Once again without warning, Princess Minthida, followed by Nang Noi, had appeared behind him.
"There you are," Prin said to her. "Where is my phone?"
"Phone?" asked Princess Minthida, puzzled.
"What's a phone?" asked Nang Noi.
Prin scratched his head wildly. How was he supposed to describe it?
"How about my pants?" he asked them. "Where are my pants?"
Prin tugged on the silky, ivory pants he was wearing.
"My green pants that I had on when you guys first found me?" he added. "Where are they?"
"I had the servants wash your clothes for you," replied Princess Minthida. "Why?"
"I need those pants," said Prin. "Can you get them for me?"
Princess Minthida and Nang Noi looked at each other absurdly.
"I want my clothes back," said Prin.
He felt much more comfortable in his own clothes. Not that the clothes he had on at the moment were uncomfortable but he felt awkward wearing them.
"Do you not like the clothes we have provided for you?" Princess Minthida asked him.
"No," Prin quickly responded. "It's not that. I'm just used to my clothes. Will you get them for me, please?"
Princess Minthida nodded at Nang Noi, who nodded in return and went out the room.
"Nang Noi is getting them for you," said Princess Minthida. "I see that you feel better now."
"Krub, er...khor rup," said Prin.
He still hadn't gotten used to the ancient terminology. Princess Minthida laughed.
"You're so weird," she said. "The way you speak, the way you dress, your hairstyle...it's like you're not from around here."
"That's because I'm not," said Prin. "Well, I am but I'm not. I'm from Krungthep."
"What is Krungthep?" asked Princess Minthida.
Maybe it was time to tell her the truth, Prin thought to himself. Now that no one was around, it was a perfect chance to tell her without other people suspecting him. Besides, she was the most trusted person at the moment.
"To be honest with you," began Prin. "I don't belong here...I mean, I don't belong in this era. I'm not from this era."
She stared at him blankly.
"I don't get it," she said.
"I am actually from the future," said Prin. "Hundreds of years from the future."
As he expected, she automatically broke into laughter.
"I know you don't believe me but I am," said Prin.
She laughed again.
"My name is Prin Suparat," he added. "I'm an archaeology student that is studying the history of the Kingdom of Morakot. I was on an expedition with my professor, Ajarn Krerk and a few friends and there was a storm and...
"Aow la," said Princess Minthida, interrupting him. "I believe it now."
"You...you do?" asked Prin.
"I believe it that you have amnesia," she said.
"What? I don't have amnesia," said Prin. "I'm telling you the truth. It's fine if you don't believe me. But no matter what, I must go back to that marketplace where your guards found me. That could be my only way of finding my way back home."
Princess Minthida laughed again and shook her head.
"Jao ying jao ka," said Nang Noi. "Here are the clothes."
Prin grabbed his clothes from Nang Noi and checked his pant pockets for his cell phone. It wasn't there.
"Are you looking for these things?" asked Nang Noi, holding up a silky pink towel tied up into a little pouch. "These items were in your pants."
"Arai la Nang Noi?" asked Princess Minthida.
Prin unwrapped the pink towel to reveal his cellphone, wallet, and handgun.
"What are those?" asked Princess Minthida, picking up the gun.
"Don't touch that!" exclaimed Prin.
Startled by his loud voice, Princess Minthida dropped the gun on the bed.
"Why did you have to scream for?" asked Princess Minthida.
"Sorry, I didn't mean to scare you," replied Prin. "But, you shouldn't touch that. It's dangerous."
"I don't even know what it is," said Princess Minthida.
She turned to Nang Noi.
"Nang Noi, why didn't you tell me about these things?" asked Princess Minthida.
"I was going to but I forgot," replied Nang Noi. "You were too concerned with...
"Aow la," said Princess Minthida. "I forgive you."
"This is a gun," Prin told them. "I think you'd better stay away with it."
He put the gun down on the bed and picked up his iPhone.
"What's that?" asked Princess Minthida.
"My cell phone," replied Prin.
He unlocked the screen and was surprised to see that he had 66% battery left. However, there was no signal.
"Come on," said Prin, shaking his phone hoping that he would get a bar or two. "No signal."
"What are you doing?" asked Princess Minthida.
"Trying to get a signal," replied Prin. "But nevermind, I forgot there are no phone towers in this era."
He threw his phone on the bed.
"Look," said Princess Minthida. "I don't know what you're trying to do or what you told me was true or not but if you really want to go home, you must not worry about anything right now but to take good care of yourself so you'll heal faster. I promise, once you're better, I'll have those guards lead you back to that spot in the marketplace."
"Thank you," nodded Prin. "And everything I told you is true but that's all up to whether or not you choose to believe me."
"I want to believe you but something like that is unbelievable," said Princess Minthida. "Also, that warning you gave my father makes me worry so much."
"Your father," said Prin. "Has he left yet?"
"What?" she asked.
"I need to see him now," said Prin.
"Why?" she asked him. "Aren't you afraid...
"I'm not afraid of anything at all," replied Prin. "Just take me there and you'll know."
Princess Minthida hesitated for a bit and finally nodded in agreement.

"You are very daring to come see me."
Jao Sompohb waved for his guards to walk away.
"You must thought that I would take your words seriously," said the King.
"I knew you wouldn't," said Prin.
Princess Minthida, who was standing behind her father, made a face for Prin to kneel before them. Prin slowly got down on one knee.
"If you're here to fill me on with more of that nonsense, you may now be dismissed," said Jao Sompohb. "I don't want to have to punish you again. Otherwise, people will think I'm a heartless king. If it weren't for the many people who begged for me to spare your life that day, you wouldn't be standing here now."
"I know," said Prin. "You don't have to believe me and take my warning seriously."
"Well what do you want?" asked Jao Sompohb.
Prin pulled out his gun from the back of his waistband and handed it to the King.
"What is this?" asked Jao Sompohb.
"What're you doing?" asked Princess Minthida.
"This is a gun," Prin told Jao Sompohb. "Take this with you and in case something life-threatening happens, press this part as fast as you can."
"Why are you bringing this thing to me?" asked Jao Sompohb.
"Well since you choose not to believe what I have told you, I am giving you this to defend yourself and trust me, it's much more convenient than a dagger," Prin explained.
Jao Sompohb stared at him.
"And you expect me to believe you?" he asked Prin.
"That's all up to you," replied Prin. "You don't have to but when the time calls for it, at least you'll know what to do."
"Jao khun por ka," said Princess Minthida, nervously.
Jao Sompohb held up one hand for her to be quiet.
"Gaw dai," he said to Prin. "I'll believe you this time but if your information isn't relevant, I'll have you beheaded at once."
Prin nodded once and stood up. He wondered if this would alter history. If it did, would it affect the possibility of him returning home?

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

They had been walking and searching for three hours now. It was almost noon and still no sign of Prin. Nadech stopped to get a drink of water. He wiped the sweat of his forehead and turned to Pakorn.
"Do you think we'll find him?" he asked Pakorn.
Pakorn sighed.
"I don't know," he replied. "I hope so. It's been hours now and we haven't heard anything from anyone. This isn't a good sign at all."
"I think it's really weird," said Nadech. "I swear, Phupoom and I lost him at that spot and I remember him saying something about going into a tunnel...
"What tunnel?" asked Pakorn.
Nadech sighed and gulped.
"Are you hiding something from me?" asked Pakorn.
"I've been wanting to tell you this," began Nadech. "Yesterday when Phupoom and I were yelling through the hard rain telling Aie Prin not to go any further, he wouldn't listen. He kept walking forward and telling us to follow him into the tunnel. However, Aie Poom and I didn't see a tunnel. Next thing we knew, Aie Prin just vanished."
"Aie Dech," said Pakorn. "Do you know what you're saying? Do you know how serious this is?"
"I know that's why I wanted to make sure first if there was a tunnel or not," said Nadech.
"There is no damn tunnel in this forest!" exclaimed Pakorn.
He turned around and punched a tree behind him.
"Toh aoey!" he yelled.
Nadech put one hand on Pakorn's shoulder.
"Let's keep searching," he said. "If the day isn't over, we shouldn't give up."
"I can't believe this is happening," said Pakorn. "Do you want me to believe that Aie Prin just disappeared magically?"
"Let's not assume anything right now," said Nadech. "I should've told you about this in the first place. I'm sorry."
"Let's keep going," said Pakorn.

"Are you alright, honey?" Ajarn Krerk asked his daughter. "Are you tired? We can take a break."
"No," replied Natwara. "I'm not taking a break. If we haven't found P'Prin yet, I'm not taking a break."
"I'm sure he's fine," said Ajarn Krerk. "Aie Prin is a smart kid, the best among all of my students. I've taught and trained him for many years so I know what he is capable of."
"What if you're wrong?" asked Natwara.
"I'm not," said Ajarn Krerk. "Prin is a very determined kid and if he wants to do something, no one can stop him. If he wants to accomplish something, he will work very hard for it. I think he must've found something that has to do with the Kingdom of Morakot."
"Well why hasn't he contacted us?" asked Natwara. "If he has found something, he would tell us, right?"
"Look, let's not give up hope or assume anything until this day is over, okay?" asked Ajarn Krerk.
Natwara nodded and kept walking. As the minutes went by, her hopes of finding her fiance was diminishing. There was nothing more they can do but keep searching.

"Oy!"
Phupoom turned around and saw Jarinporn on the ground.
"Oyy!" she yelped.
He rushed to her and squatted down.
"What's wrong?" he asked her.
"I think I sprained my ankle," said Jarinporn, massaging her right foot.
"Let me see," said Phupoom, rolling up his sleeves.
"No!" she exclaimed. "Don't touch it! It hurts."
"How am I supposed to help you if I don't look at it?" asked Phupoom.
"Fine," she said. "Be gentle."
Phupoom tried to be as gentle as he could.
"Yeah, it's sprained," he told her.
Phupoom took off his backpack and turned around.
"What're you doing?" Jarinporn asked him.
"Get on my back," he said. "I'm going to carry you."
"What? No," said Jarinporn.
"Well I can't just leave you here," said Phupoom. "We must keep going. Aie Prin is somewhere out here waiting for us to find him. Do you want to just sit here?"
Jarinporn hesitated and looked around her.
"You know there are lot of snakes out here," said Phupoom.
"Okay," she said.
She threw the backpack over her shoulder and climbed on Phupoom's back.

Finally, it was time to reassemble at the campsite. Everyone returned safely, exhausted and sweaty.
"We need to get out of here and call the police now," said Ajarn Krerk.
Natwara began to cry silently. She remembered the last time she and Prin went to the temple for a palm reading. Maybe the monk was right...she and Prin were not meant to be.
"Soon disaster will strike," she remembered the monk saying. "Nature will take its course and you two will soon be parted. No matter how much you love each other, you are not each other's soulmates. Your actual soulmates do not live in this world."
Natwara never took the monk's words seriously. Now, she was beginning to believe it...

Chapter Four

The sun shone brightly over the Kingdom of Morakot and the birds flew and chirped freely in the skies. Prin smiled at the beautiful and peaceful sight from the window of his bedroom. It would only be a few years time until the collapse of this mighty kingdom. The devastating thought wiped the smile of his face. What if he could never return home? What if he was stuck in this era forever? He would hate to live through and see the kingdom's downfall. Prin closed his eyes and shook his head.
"No, I must not think this way," he said to himself.
He turned away from the window and changed into his "normal" clothes. Even though he hadn't completely recovered, he didn't want to delay time any longer. On the way out, he ran into Princess Minthida and Nang Noi.
"Where are you going?" Princess Minthida asked him.
"I...uh...
The words wouldn't come out of his mouth. Prin looked down at Nang Noi, who was holding his backpack.
"This is yours," said Nang Noi, handing it to him.
Prin grabbed the bag and looked at Princess Minthida.
"Don't worry," she said. "We didn't go through your belongings."
"Thank you," said Prin. "I want to...to say goodbye."
"Say goodbye?" asked Princess Minthida.
"Chai," nodded Prin. "It's time for me to go. This place isn't for me. But, it's not that I don't like it here...I...
"You don't need to explain," said Princess Minthida. "I'll call for those guards now so they'll take you to that spot in the marketplace."
"Khob jai maak," said Prin.
He stared into her eyes and she into his.
"Jao ying jao ka," said Nang Noi, interrupting the silent, awkward moment.
Princess Minthida turned to Nang Noi.
"I will go call those guards for you," Nang Noi offered.
Princess Minthida nodded.
"We will be in the garden," she told Nang Noi.
"Jao ka," said Nang Noi, and she wandered off to fetch the guards.
Prin followed Princess Minthida to the gardens, where he was amazed by all the beautiful trees and flowers. There were no signs of dying plants. It was a wonderful sight as he never saw a garden so wondrous. Prin bent down and picked a white rose. He smiled and handed it to Princess Minthida, who looked up at him with a baffled expression.
"Why are you giving this to me?" she asked him, taking the flower from his hand.
"Because you are pure like this white rose," said Prin. "You have a pure heart who likes to help others. If you hadn't saved me, I probably wouldn't be standing here right now."
"Khob khun," said Princess Minthida, turning away so he wouldn't see her blushing.
"Your face is turning pink," said Prin, looking at her cheeks. "Are you hot?"
He looked up at the sun and held up both of his hands above her head to give her shade. Princess Minthida turned even pinker. She couldn't even stare at him directly in the eyes.
"If you make it back home," she began. "Will you miss me?"
"Of course I will," Prin smiled. "I would never forget my savior."
He thought for a moment.
"No one would forget you," he added. "You will be very well known as you will make a mark in history."
"How do you know that?" she asked him.
"I just do," replied Prin.
"If you get a...
"Jao ying jao ka!"
Nang Noi ran towards them with a look of fear on her face.
"Jao ying!"
"Arai na Nang Noi?" asked Princess Minthida. "Where are those guards?"
"Yae laew!" exclaimed Nang Noi, kneeling before them and trying to catch her breath.
"Take it easy," said Prin.
"The King is back!"
Prin and Princess Minthida exchanged looks.
"Why so fast?" asked Princess Minthida. "Reu wah...
"Just as Khun Prin said, His Highness encountered an ambush along the way," Nang Noi explained.
"Let's go see," said Prin, turning to Princess Minthida.
They hurried to the royal court.

"Rise," said Jao Sompohb, upon seeing Prin.
Prin turned to Princess Minthida and she nodded. He thanked the King and stood up.
"I've encountered an ambush attack on the way to the Kingdom of Wasuthep," said the King, in a normal tone.
Everyone in the court was silent.
"But thanks to you, I used this weapon here to fend off my enemies," said the King, holding up the handgun. "This is indeed a very powerful weapon."
"I'm glad I could help," said Prin.
"May I ask where you obtained such a great weapon?" asked the King.
Prin didn't know who to respond. If he said that he got it from 21st century, there was sure to be a lot of commotion. No one would believe him.
"I don't think it matters where he got the weapon," said Princess Minthida.
Jao Sompohb nodded.
"What's important is that he did a great favor for me," said the King. "For all of us."
"It's nothing," said Prin. "The most important thing is your safety."
The King chuckled loudly.
"Young man, I think we started off from the wrong foot," he began. "How about I say we start over?"
Prin was silent.
"Aow la," said the King. "I must reward you. Tell me what you want. I will give you anything."
Suddenly, the court officials broke into excited whispers. Prin looked around at them and shifted slightly.
"I do not wish anything in return," he replied.
Jao Sompohb shook his head.
"I insist," he said.
The shiny butterfly clip in Princess Minthida's hair caught Prin's attention. All eyes were now on Princess Minthida, who was staring at Prin.
"I...I would like the butterfly clip in Princess Minthida's hair," Prin said finally.
Jao Sompohb was shocked and the excited whispers in the court were even louder this time.
"Why?" asked Jao Sompohb. "Out of all the riches and valuables that I own, you want Princess Minthida's hairpin?"
"Khor rup," replied Prin. "Because Princess Minthida saved my life. When I return home, I will have something to remember her by."
"If you wish," said the King.
He turned to his daughter, Princess Minthida, and nodded for her to take it off. While keeping her eyes on Prin, Princess Minthida took off her hairclip and handed it to the soldier to present to Prin.
Prin thanked both the King and the Princess.
"Aow la," said the King. "Now that the rewarding is done for, I must announce that I will be imposing more soldiers around our kingdom and at our borders for tighter security and control. If something out of the ordinary must happens, it must be reported to me immediately."
Everyone in the court bowed down in acknowledgement of the King's order.

"Out of all the riches and valuables that my Father offered, you chose this hairpin," said Princess Minthida.
Prin smiled and came to a halt in the middle of the garden.
"That's because I do not wish for any of those valuables," said Prin. "I only wish to return home and with this hairpin, I will always remember you no matter where I'm at."
Princess Minthida seemed to be on the verge of tears.
"Jao ying jao ka," said Nang Noi, approaching them.
She and the two guards who followed kneeled on the ground.
"I've brought Aie Dum and Aie Khao," said Nang Noi.
Princess Minthida turned to Prin.
"These were the two guards that found you that day," she told Prin. "They will lead you back to that spot where they first found you. I wish you a safe return."
"Thank you again," said Prin. "Thank you for everything."
He turned around and followed the two guards down the garden pathway, turning around one last time to take a final look at the Princess.

Lol! Ai Dum and Ai Khao. Prin is so cuteee! Asking for her hairpin. Awwwwwww!!!
Haha! I really couldn't think of any legit servant names. Lmao. Let's all just assume that one is dark skinned while the other is light skinned.

Chapter Five

"Are you two sure this is the spot?"
Prin looked around wildly at the open, busy marketplace around him. He attracted a lot of attention. People were now gathering around him but he ignored it. He had to focus on how he was going to get back home. It seemed absolutely impossible.
"This is it," replied Aie Khao. "You were unconscious right here on the ground when we found you. People were gathered all around you just like right now."
"It can't be," said Prin. "There must be a way."
"A way for what?" asked Aie Dum. "I think we should return to the palace."
"No," said Prin, sternly. "I am not going anywhere. If you want to go back, you're more than welcome. I won't resist."
"But Her Highness has commanded us to protect you until you've accomplished your goal," said Aie Khao.
"Chai," said Aie Dum. "If we leave you here like this, it means that we contravene with Her Highness' command. We will be punished."
More and more people gathered around them and all eyes were on Prin. They pointed at him and chatted to each other.
"It must be him," a woman said aloud.
"Look at his clothes," said another.
"He seems lost," added a middle aged man.
"I think we'd better get out of here," said Aie Khao.
"Mai," said Prin. "Did you guys bring me to the wrong spot? Are you sure this is where you found me?"
"We're more than sure," replied Aie Dum. "We were patrolling this area that day and we remember exactly what happened."
This is absolutely absurd, Prin thought to himself. There must be a way back somehow. By the serious expressions their face displayed, he believed that the two guards were being honest.
"I don't want to go back yet," Prin told them.
"Aow, where do you want to go?" asked Aie Khao.
"I want to walk around a bit," replied Prin. "You guys don't have to follow me."
"But we must," said Aie Dum. "We already told you...
"Alright, alright," said Prin, holding up one hand. "Whatever. It's up to you."
While walking around, Prin jotted down notes in his little journal that was initially intended for observation notes during the expedition. This could be accounted for as part of it. He specified every little detail that would help him write about his research as the two guards gawked over his shoulder to fill their curiosity.
"What are you doing?" asked Aie Dum.
"Taking notes," replied Prin.
"What for?" asked Aie Khao.
"People in the future will want to learn about this mighty kingdom," Prin explained. "I must record my experiences because it could broaden someone's knowledge of this kingdom one day."
"Oh, that's a clever idea!" exclaimed Aie Dum.
Prin smiled and kept walking until the guards advised him that they should return to the palace.
"Staying out late is not recommended," said Aie Khao. "If something happens to you, Princess Minthida will blame us."
"Chai," Aie Dum agreed. "It's for your own safety."
Prin nodded and followed their lead back. Actually, he was always a step ahead of them because they were not allowed to walk in front of him. When they were about halfway back, Prin stopped in front of a cart full of fresh fruits. Smiling, he picked out a few.
"What are you doing?" asked Aie Khao. "Are you going to buy some?"
"Yeah," replied Prin. "What do you guys want?"
Aie Dum and Aie Khao exchanged serious looks.
"Why that face?" Prin asked them. "Don't tell me you could get punished for eating fruits that I buy you."
They shook their heads.
"It's not that," said Aie Dum. "It's just that we've never been offered something like by someone before."
"Oh," said Prin.
He continued picking out a few apples, bananas, and oranges as the vendor lady watched on.
"How much?" Prin asked her.
The vendor looked at him up and down.
"You have money?" she asked.
It was then that Prin realized that he didn't have ancient money. He only had the few thousand baht billfolds in his wallet along with a few coins. Prin pulled out his wallet from his back pocket and took out the handful of coins and billfolds.
"This is what I have," Prin handed to her.
"Oho!" exclaimed the vendor.
Her eyes widened and a wide smiled formed on her face. She grabbed the coins from his hand, leaving the billfolds untouched.
"Are these real?" she asked him.
"Of course they are," he replied.
"You can have this whole cart if you want," she told him.
"Huh...what?"
Prin was both confused and amazed. She took it the wrong way. He didn't want the whole cart, just the few he picked out.
"I only want the ones I picked out," said Prin. "If you give these all to me, you won't have anything left to sell."
"Mai pen rai rauk," said the vendor. "This is plenty of money to cover for all of these fruits!"
"Since she approves, you should take it," whispered Aie Dum.
"Mai dai," said Prin. "We must not benefit ourselves this way. It is wrong. Actually, these coins aren't worth much...
"Are you kidding?!" exclaimed Aie Khao. "This is much more than what our wages are!"
Once again, Prin forgot what era he was in. Of course, these few coins worth a lot to them. Nevertheless, he left the remainder of fruits on the cart and took back to the palace the ones he actually intended to buy.

Princess Minthida was delighted to see him back. Nang Noi, on the other hand, was amazed by both Prin's presence and the fruits that the three men brought back.
"Oho!" she exclaimed. "Fresh fruits!"
"Did you buy those?" Princess Minthida asked Prin.
"Chai," he replied.
"I thought you went...
"There is no way back," said Prin sadly. "But that's okay. I believe I will be able to return home someday."
"I don't understand," said Princess Minthida. "Why does it have to be that exact spot? What is it that's so special about that spot?"
"It's a long story," Prin replied. "I'll explain it to you later. Let's just assume that I can't go home right now and I must stay here."
Princess Minthida smiled and nodded.
"Why did you buy those fruits?" she asked. "If you wanted some, you could've requested it and I could have someone go buy them for you."
"I'm not a prince," said Prin. "I don't have the authority to do that and you shouldn't take abuse your title for me either. Plus, I was already there so I went ahead and bought them."
"They look delicious!" exclaimed Nang Noi.
"Come on, let's try them," said Prin, smiling.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It had been two weeks since Prin's disappearance and even with the police force assisting in the search, there was still no word. He seemed to have vanished into the storm leaving no evidence, trace, whatsoever.
"Two weeks," said Khun Chai Suparat, Prin and Jarinporn's father. "Two weeks and still no answer."
Khun Ying Suparat buried her face in her hands to hide her tears.
"What if something...
"No, don't say that," said Jarinporn, cutting her mother off. "P'Prin must be okay."
"And you," said Khun Chai Suparat, turning to his daughter. "I just don't understand why you tagged along when you're not even involved in that project."
"Chai," agreed Khun Ying Suparat. "What if you went missing too?"
"Toh, Khun Por ka, Khun Mae ka," said Jarinporn, with a sad face. "I only wanted to see what it was like being outdoors. Besides, P'Prin's friends took great care of me."
"Luckily you only came home with a sprained ankle," said Khun Chai Suparat.
"I'm not the one you should be worried about," said Jarinporn. "It's P'Prin and P'Nat that we should be worried about."
"Noo Nat," said Khun Ying Suparat. "How is she? Oh, she must be devastated!"
"It's worse than that," said Jarinporn. "She refuses to eat or drink anything at all."
"Toh aoey, Noo Nat."
Khun Ying Suparat sighed and collapsed into the sofa nearby.

"You must eat."
Nadech held up the bowl of chicken congee in front of Natwara, hoping that she would take a few bites of it.
"I bought it from your favorite place," he said.
"I don't want it," said Natwara.
"You haven't consumed any food for days now," said Nadech. "If you keep like this, you will be in this hospital even longer."
"Gaw dee," said Natwara. "Just let me die. It hurts so much to live already. Without P'Prin, I don't think I can live."
Nadech sighed, pulled up a chair, and sat down next to Natwara, who was lying on her back on the stretcher.
"Do you think you're the only one in pain?" he asked her. "I am in pain too. I am devastated too. Aie Prin is my best friend. He is like my brother. We grew up together and we had a lot in common. We went to the same school and liked the same...
Nadech paused there. He almost revealed the confession he had held onto for years. Natwara wouldn't be happy if she heard it.
"Please, don't torment yourself like this," he said. "If Aie Prin sees you in this state, he surely won't be happy."
Natwara finally turned to look at Nadech.
"What do you want me to do?" she asked. "Even if I had the strength, I wouldn't be able to go search for him. It would be useless because there is no trace of him at all!"
Natwara began to cry softly as Nadech sat there and tried to comfort her. She was right. There wasn't anything they could do but wait for the good news from police...or bad.

Prin flipped through the pages of his notebook and read what he had wrote earlier. Then, a sudden thought came to him. He dashed across the room to his backpack and whipped out a pen. He was going to start a personal diary. Perhaps, one day it could be published into a book based on his real life experiences. He smiled at the thought of it and began to write.

It is actually not short at all. And I love the fact that you're so descriptive!

Chapter Six

Early
next morning, Prin left the royal palace alone and went to the
marketplace again. There had to be a way back and he refused to give up.
He looked around carefully in case there was something unusual,
something out of the ordinary that would catch his eyes and lead him to
believe that it could be the way back.

The
market wasn't as busy as yesterday evening and Prin guessed that it was
due to the fact that it was too early in the morning. What time was it?
He had no idea. His watch had stopped ticking sometime last night and
Prin woke up to find it already dead. Nevertheless, he didn't take it
off in case it started ticking again.

After
standing there at that spot for a long while and in deep contemplation,
Prin concluded that it probably wasn't time for him to return home yet.
He believed in miracles though and one day when that day came, he would
be able to go home.

"Where are you from?"
Prin
turned around to see a young boy looking wildly at him. Actually, the
young boy wasn't really a young boy but more of a really young and
feminine looking teenager.

"Where are you from?"
Even his voice hasn't deepened and matured yet. "He" sounded quite girly.
"Uhm, I'm not from around here," Prin replied.
"I can tell that," said the boy, smartly. "Mind telling me where you are from though?"
"I
uh...am from Bangkok," Prin responded, this time hoping the boy would
stop questioning him. "How about you? Where are you from?"

"My parents are poor," the boy replied.
That was not the answer Prin was expecting. It wasn't even relevant.
"I'm from the outskirts of the kingdom," the boy added.
Oh, thought Prin.
"Well what are you doing wandering in the markets alone?" Prin asked him. "Aren't you afraid?"
The boy laughed.
"Afraid of what?" he asked. "There's nothing to be afraid of in this world."
Prin
shook his head. Cocky little bastard, he thought to himself. He thought
it best to drop the subject and walk away. Just as he turned around,
the boy grabbed his arm.

"What do you want?" Prin asked him.
"You havent' answered my question," he replied. "What is Bangkok?"
"It's a place very far from here," Prin responded. "You wouldn't know."
"Are you calling me dumb?" the boy asked.
"No," said Prin automatically. "I didn't mean it that way. Look kid, I've got to go."
"Sorry about the other day," said the boy.
Prin was stunned. The boy had just apologized to him for what reason, he did not know.
"For what?" Prin asked him.
"I accidentally hit you the other day on the head with a pole," the boy replied. "Don't you remember?"
"What?" asked Prin. "I don't know what you're talking about."
Suddenly,
he caught on. Prin remembered when he first opened his eyes that day
and felt that throbbing pain on his head only to be told by Princess
Minthida that he had suffered from a blow to the head.

"You were the one that hit me?!" Prin asked the boy, loudly.
"Yeah,"
replied the boy. "I didn't mean to though. You showed up out of no
where and was caught in the middle of a fight between me and some
hoodlums and I accidentally hit you on the head."

The boy looked around.
"It happened right here," he added.
Prin
sighed heavily and closed his eyes for a second. Things made much more
sense now that he knew how he got that head injury. The guards from the
palace must've been breaking up that fight at the time. That's how he
ended up in the palace.

"That's alright buddy," Prin told the boy. "I don't blame you."
"Really?" asked the boy, giving him a weird look.
"Yeah," said Prin. "What's your name anyway?"
"My name is...er, you can just call me Rath," said the boy.
"Rath," Prin repeated.
So
this Rath boy was the one responsible for all of Prin's injuries.
However, if it weren't for Rath, Prin probably would've ended up on the
streets of Morakot.

*Rath is Yaya, Urassaya*

Ever
since Prin's disappearance, Ajarn Krerk buried himself in loads of
research. For the past two and a half weeks, he flipped through pages of
books, magazine articles and newspapers hoping to uncover and find some
leads regarding Prin's disappearance. He was sure that Prin couldn't
have just ditched this breakthrough discovery and vanished into thin
air.

"He
must've found something that day," Ajarn Krerk said quietly to himself
as he fumbled through Prin's past research papers and works.

Prin
was Ajarn Krerk's best student. He was the most determined, hard
working, and dedicated young man that Ajarn Krerk had ever met. That was
probably why his daughter, Natwara, fell for Prin. Not only he
qualified as a great student but he was also as gentlemanly as can be.

"Ajarn, Ajarn krub."
There was a knock on Ajarn Krerk's office door.
"Come in," Ajarn Krerk called out without asking who the knocker was.
In
came Phupoom and Pakorn, who were also Ajarn Krerk's students. The two
friends looked around Ajarn Krerk's office in amazement.

"Oho," said Phupoom.
"So this is what you've been up to?" asked Pakorn. "Do you really think Prin...
"Yes,
I do," said Ajarn Krerk without allowing Pakorn to finish his question.
He already knew what the guys were here for, anyway.

"We just came by to see if you were ready," said Pakorn.
"Ready? Ready for wh...
Of
course! Today was their scheduled second expedition trip to that
forest! This time, it would only be the three of them as Nadech had
volunteered to stay behind to take care of Natwara. Ajarn Krerk had
planned this trip immediately following Prin's disappearance. There was
something in that forest that led Prin to it and Ajarn Krerk was anxious
to find out.

"Let me just get ready," said Ajarn Krerk, putting his papers and books and things away.
The
more he tried to organize, the more cluttered his office got. He
probably realized it too since he just pushed everything to the side and
grabbed only a few necessary items.

"Let's go," he said to Pakorn and Phupoom.
They encountered a surprise at their van. It was none other than Jarinporn, Prin's younger sister.
"What are you doing here?" Phupoom asked her. "Didn't I already tell you you couldn't go?"
She shrugged and looked onto Ajarn Krerk.
"If you want to go, you can go," said Ajarn Krerk. "Four heads are better than three. Perhaps, you could help out."
"Ajarn krub," said Phupoom. "But...
"Let's go!" said Jarinporn, happily.
"Mai dai," said Pakorn. "Last time, you came back with a sprained ankle. What if you disappear too?"
"That is very unlikely," said Jarinporn. "Aow na, I won't wander off anywhere. I want to help find P'Prin too."
"We're
not just out to search for Aie Prin," said Phupoom. "We don't know how
long we will be gone this time. Our research isn't completed yet."

"I just want to help," said Jarinporn. "Please."
"Aow la, aow la," said Ajarn Krerk. "We're just wasting time. Let's just go."
Jarinporn
opened the sliding door of the van and jumped in at once. Phupoom and
Pakorn looked at each other and shook their heads. They shouldn't have
argued with Jarinporn in the first place as they knew that she was a
very rebellious and curious young woman.

Prin
returned to the royal palace around late evening to find that the front
gates were locked. It seemed that no one was around. Prin put his hands
on his hips and looked overhead at the seven or eight feet walls. He
decided to climb over it. He obtained a few crates from nearby and
stacked them atop each other to assist in his climbing. Finally, he was
sitting on top of the walls. Making sure that there wasn't anything in
his way below, he jumped down and landed on his back with a thud.

"Who's there!"
Two figures were approaching in his direction.
"How dare you climb over my palace walls!"
Prin
recognized that voice now. It was Jao Sompohb, followed by his personal
guard. The guard charged towards Prin and aimed his spear at Prin's
neck. Prin fell backwards on the ground again.

"It's you?!" Jao Sompohb asked with a loud voice.
"Khor rup," replied Prin.
He gulped. His eyes were fixed on the spear.
"What are you doing outside the palace this late?" Jao Sompohb asked him.
"I
left early this morning to take a walk," Prin replied. "I was lost and I
just found my way back. I didn't know the gates would be locked at
night so...

"So you decided to jump over the walls?" Jao Sompohb finished.
"Khor rup," said Prin.
Unexpectedly, the King broke into a loud laughter, which probably echoed the whole palace.
"Clever young man!" exclaimed the King.
He motioned for the guard to retract the spear from Prin's neck.
"Rise," he said to Prin.
Prin did as he was told. The King laughed again. He swung his right arm around Prin's neck.
"So you really have amnesia, huh?" the King asked him.
"Uhm...khor rup," replied Prin.
He
had no choice but to play along with the lie that Princess Minthida had
started from day one. Why did she lie that way he did not know. He even
forgot to ask.

"Well how do you know your name is Prin?" the King asked.
"There was a source of identification on me," he replied.
Prin
was referring to his driver's licence in his wallet, which was in his
back pocket when they had found him. He explained the phenomenon to Jao
Sompohb.

"Oh," said Jao Sompohb. "That's very interesting. You are a very interesting and mysterious young man indeed."
Prin
didn't know what to say. He remained silent the rest of the little
night walk with the King. They met Princess Minthida in the gardens. To
prevent further possible problems, he kneeled before her.

"Where were you all day?" she asked him.
Prin
told her the same thing he had told Jao Sompohb earlier but he knew
that she didn't buy it. She could sense his lies from a mile away.
Finally, Jao Sompohb decided to go to bed.

"Don't stay out too long," he told Prin and Princess Minthida.
The two nodded and watched as the King walked away in the distance. Princess Minthida turned to face Prin.
"I know you're lying," she said to him.
"I have no choice," replied Prin. "Why did you lie to your father that I have amnesia? This complicates things."
"I
was trying to help you," she told him. "How do you reckon he would
react if you told him you are from Bangkok? We are unfamiliar with at
that place. Curiosity leads to questioning and my father is no
different. You're not a prisoner. Therefore, you don't deserved to be
questioned like one."

"Thank you," said Prin. "I understand now."
"Now can you tell me where you've been all day?" she asked him. "Don't you know how much I worried about you?"
As soon as she said this, Princess Minthida blushed and turned away. She couldn't believe she had just let that slip.
"I'm sorry," said Prin. "Next time, I won't do that."
For
some odd reason, he felt his heart beat unusually faster than usual.
Everytime when they were alone, it was hard for him to breath. It seemed
as though, she took his breath away...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Nadech
got to the hospital the next morning to find out that Natwara had been
released and left earlier than expected. He immediately noticed the note
under the phone and dashed over right away to retrieve it.

"Nadech,
thanks for taking care of me but I can't just sit here in the hospital
without doing anything at all. I know what you mean now. I'm off to meet
up with my father in the forest. I will do whatever it takes to find
P'Prin. -Natwara"

He
crumpled up the note and tossed it into the wastebasket nearby. About a
thousand thoughts rushed through his mind. His heart was racing. After a
moment of panic, he decided to go after Natwara and the others. He
would never forgive himself if something happened to Natwara.

Nadech
went home and hastily stuffed some clothes and necessary things into
one luggage. He grabbed his outdoors backpack and shoved a few more
items into it and dashed out of the house. Since he knew exactly where
to go, it wouldn't take long for him to get there. He would be there in
no time.

Nadech
sped on the highway to beat the dark, ugly, storm clouds in the sky. It
was going to pour down any minute and he didn't want to get caught up
in the middle of it. Good thing he made it to his destination before the
storm. As soon as he parked, Nadech swung his backpack over his
shoulder and trekked into the forest. He found the campsite but since no
was present, he assumed they were doing field work in the forest.
Natwara must've been with the others because her things were outside the
tent. After putting his luggage aside, Nadech went into the forest
after them.

As
Nadech got deeper and deeper into the forest, the sky overhead became
darker and darker. This was beginning to look like that day, Nadech
thought to himself. It started to rain hard. Nadech squinted his eyes a
few times and tried to catch his breath. He ran under a large tree for
shelter. Then, he saw it. Nadech walked towards the tunnel and
everything around him began to spin...
