If I got something like that, first of all if it's not someone I know, wouldn't open it at all -- just to be safe.
Second, if for some strange reason I did opened it to find that message I wouldn't think much of it. I'd just think it was spam mail and block the sender.

As for the PMs, I was getting the same thing!
I keep coming to check only to find nothing.
