There was this young guy (he is younger than me) who graduated from college, I knew he likes to write & he was going into medicine so I bought him a leather journal, alarm clock, note pads, highlight markers for his medical school.

You could also get them gift cards from their favorite stores & when in doubt I just give money as presents lol.
