[Ch3] Bpoop Phaeh Saniwaat (Broadcast Thai) : Pope Thanawat / Bella Ranee

@pangiaxiong I wanna say “namnao” can also imply “shitty”, when most Thai people refer to a lakorn as “namnao” its kind insinuating as it being “shitty” or just bad altogether.
Actually, no....There are "good" nam nao lakorns to watch. LOL. It can be a lot of people's guilty pleasure.

For example, "Sawan Bien" with Ken T and Ann T is a classic nam nao. So much drama....demeaning female characters, revenge, r scenes (several!), falling in love with your abuser, .... you name it, that lakorn has it. Yet, it is a beloved lakorn. One of the highest ratings with shutting the city down kind of ending support from the audience. Last year, I'd say KluenCheewit and PlerngBoon are both Nam Nao and highest rated for Ch.3.

BUT, I think the culture changing and I am thankful for that as a female viewer of lakorns.
There are more willings then r scenes and now there is a great lakorn like BPS which has a smart sassy n'ek. I think strong feminism in BPS is what makes this lakorn popular too.

A prequel would be even better for culture, that way they can pick any era before BPS and start fresh. How much could things have changed in 20 years? What other historical sites popped up in 20 years that they can tie in to the movie?

But yeah agree on the nam nao. The author isn't above it lol. I haven't read other works by her but some have been made into lakorns. Ruen Payom with Camilla and Win was the definition of nam nao. And not all her rom-coms are funny either. The one with Poo and Oil was annoying. I did like the modern one with Janie and Aum. Wait that one and its sequel wasn't bad either. But it did seem repetitive.
Could it be that this part 2 is more of a request from Broadcast vs her wanting to write it. I mean how long ago did she write BPS? If she really wanted to make a sequel she would had already. Just like Reang Ngao, they didnt think about writing a part 2 til broadcast asked them to.

Yes the culture is changing. I like the interviewer saying that in today's time a lakorn does not have to be nam nao, with physical violence (slapping back and forth) to be popular and that producers should take notice. I mean I like me a good revenge lakorn but serious sometime it's a bit much. Like the time for throwing a mistress down the stairs because she stole your man is gone. If it isn't, it should be.

When the book started Karakade was 16. Kadesurang was older, like early 20s? I just remember her age because Kade was shocked when Pin and Yam was telling her she was close to being an old maid and Kade was like at 16?? Lol. So by the time they got married Karakade's body age would've been 21.

You know the thread we have here "you know you're watching a lakorn when..." that's the definition of "nam nao." It means all the typical stuff that's in every lakorn, usually in a bad way. Like crazy over the top n'rais, villains, ton of stupid misunderstandings between p'ek/n'ek, slap-kisses, fighting over men and women, the bad people going crazy at the end etc. It's pretty much 95% of all lakorns lol.

You’re right haha but “namnao” is a term that can be defined broadly don’t you think?

“Shitty” in the sense that it’s unrealistic and just namnao—but no arguing that namnao lakorn arent popular at all lol many “namnao” lakorns are indeed very popular haha.

I have no shame to admit that I like a "good" namnao. lol. It's my guilty pleasure. You should see me crying my eyes out watching some lakorn nam nao. I don't watch all because I don't like bad lakorns.... but some nam nao are fun.

BTW, if I say, I love Thai Soap Opera, I get funny looks so I guess that is the same as saying I enjoy some nam nao.

Probably. They shouldn't be rushing her though. Why don't they just write something themselves! Haha.

I'm glad we don't see those as often anymore. Haha.

Ha! Yes, a great "nam nao"....

I am torn about remakes... I don't want to see remakes after remakes but Jam Loey Ruk would be a great one. Maybe we can have PopeBella in it. LOL.
Oh no, oh no! Haha. KA's SB and AA'S JLR should be the last of their kind. Haha.

But realistically speaking, many, many if not most thai soap operas (lakorns) are namnao lol who goes back to their abusive p’ek again and again? Who’s willing to take back their p’ek who’s supposedly slept with n’rai? Who’s willing to take back a p’ek that gets abused by his n’rai everyday? Lol ahahahaha lakorns are just drama, drama and drama... but they’re entertaining that’s why people like me or us can’t stop watching lol

And yes, I do like most ch3 namnao lakorns, but with OneHD or Gmm25 or ch8 lol sometimes they’re too psycho so I have like no taste for their namnao lakorn cuz it’s just like real psychotic! :nut:

Are we off topic with this nam nao discussion? LOL

I don't even know what is off topic and not on this forum any more.....

Back to BPS, I don't know about the sequel too.... Often, they don't live up to the hype. Also, we'll be all over their BTS (at least me. I love spoilers and hate myself after) and when the lakorn airs, you'd know the story already in your head. At least with BPS, I didn't watch any behind the scenes so it's all fresh and fun to watch. I really was thinking of skipping this until I saw Bella's face on IG on BPS first episode. That pulled me in and got stuck. hahaha

Gmm mini series are good 4-10 eps....simple and straight to the point
Yes I like their mini series. Some of them are cute. There's good nam nao and bad nam nao lol.

BPS is like a game changer. Theres no frustration (Except we had to wait 14 ep for our multiple love scenes), no eye rolling, no rated R (Except when having to explain lo sam pao lol), no fighting over stupid airhead praeks. It was so refreshing..

BPS is a lakorn that we didn't know we needed. We are exhausted from nam nao or boring lakorns and BOOM comes BPS and makes us all crazy for a good story line with great characters. I mean, even Joi's chicken got popular! :p

Yeah, BPS is a success in that it wasn't hyped at all, especially in here. It had nothing to lose. With BPS2 though everyone will be hyped for it, and if it doesn't live up to that hype its gonna lose a lot.
