I agree. Honestly, I'm not excited by many of ch3's lakorns that are being filmed currently. A lot of the lakorns on my to watch list from ch3 is because of the actors I like, not so much for the actual story. Take Klin Kasalong for instance, if it wasn't for Yaya, I wouldn't have watched. Now look at ch7, a few years ago I would barely even watch their lakorns but heck I'm excited for Prom Pissaward and I'm not even too big of a fan or Pim or Boom but the lakorn itself looks very alluring (the teaser has 1.2 million views, so I take it as Thailand feels the same way). Ch3 lakorn storylines aren't as interesting as they were since Padiwarada has aired.

I agree with you. I am a total Ch3 fan but honestly their storylines have not been so great. I usually will watch lakorns if I like the pairing nowadays but they usually are pairing the same couples so I haven’t really been tuning in.
Lately I watch more Ch7 lakorns and like you mentioned, I don’t even know the actors and actresses sometimes. What I like about Ch7 is they do have good storylines and they don’t overdo the pairings. Usually it’s a variety of pairings which I enjoy more. I like to see people show their skills with other partners. It’s boring to see the same people onscreen constantly.

Yeah, ch3 doesn’t have much variety of pairings(not the pairings I want to see), and there’s not that many I like watching either. Ch3 does a lot of fan service so that’s why they keep pairing the same couples.
Family happens... after it’s founder died, they pretty much had family rivalry going on on who should run the company. It worths billions of baht mind you.
During that time, I would say budget got delayed, new program going haywire therefore you are seeing the effects of all that rivalry. Now they decided to give it’s management to three ladies of the family after then men screw up. Let see how that’s going to be.
One thing good is their resident artist still feel save enough to be with them.

I’m kinda new to lakorn world, don’t have the time or care to watch many of them, but I do read news here and there. One thing that stands out for me is that CH3 (I only follow their news, ‘cuz I like the gloss seem to remake lots of old lakorns. Don’t they want new materials, are they playing too safe? I don’t know, but it’s like Chinese broadcast companies remaking period TV dramas based on Jin Yong’s novels again and again.
About fake kisses, I’m so frustrated with that. Either do it or don’t do it at all, please don’t fake it or do it but act like a wooden statue. That just kills the mood.
But based on the recent lakorns, it seems CH3 are stepping up their games in the imitate scene department, which I think is a good sign. To me, kiss scenes make love stories more believable. CH7 actors and actresses do not seem to hold back in those type of scenes.
About the koojin thing, no matter how big the fandom is or how popular the stars are, lakorn is still a very small world and each koojin, even the most popular one, attract a relatively small number of die hard followers. They help create and maintain the impression of how popular a star is. Casual fans or normal lakorn viewers would not be affected much by the star power in their choice of what to watch. Hence the level of popularity doesn’t guarantee high ratings. At the end of the day, die hard fans can’t outnumber the public to really affect the viewer ratings.
