Yak, I used to rent movies from a Store in Oakland. The lady told me she hated Mayura Business practice and that is why she cut business ties with them. I asked her why.LMAO! Really.. What video store you go to.. I live in San Francisco and there's none out here besides Oakland.. And Oakland doesn't really have much..
This is what happened, back during the VHS days she would buy video tape from Mayura at $15 per episode. It was rental at that time so I believe she rent them at $1 per episode. She made copies and rent them out as so. Mayura does not want buyers to do that. They want buyers to buy multiple set from them and rent out the originals and not make copies and rent them out. Do the math, $15 per episode and say 10 episode in a Lakorn, that mean the buy in cost is $150 per set. How many people do you have to rent it out to break even? If it's a good lakorn, she maybe lucky, but it not... then what? Mayura do not buy back. Imagine if she has to buy 2-3 set of a title? WHAOOO.. that was how Mayura made a lot of money and able to afford many properties including wives back in Cambodia. None of my business... but Long Beach is a Cambodian community so you tend to hear things. Yet with all the money they made they fail to take viewers comments and suggestion - like I stated in my previous post.
