Chapter 2

Yaya sat across from a group of regulars as they discussed some scandal about celebrity actress Sammie, who the media found in the bedroom of some rich fellow. Reports have said that the two were found in the same bedroom and the word ‘rape’ was mention. Some bloodstains on the sheets seem to add fuel to fire. Now the media are going on frenzy, trying to get a scope on what happened that night.

As if she wanted to know. What happen with celebrities are their problems… and she would care less.

“Yaya, have you heard the news?” someone asked. Yaya tried to recall the woman’s name, much to her regret. She meet woman like her every night, so much which their name started to jumble together. Odd, she isn’t one of those types who have problems putting names with faces. Must be the alcohol. How much has she had already?

“Not interested. Celebrity and gossips revolves much around the same thing. Besides, I think I’m ready for another drink. Excuse me.” She left the table before anyone replied. As if she cared about their opinions.

After making her way through the crowded club and somehow managing to find an empty stool at the bar, she ordered her drink. To her left, she noticed that two women were obviously arguing over something.

“I’m telling you. There’s no way I’m getting married to that dude!” The elder of the two women said. The woman seem a little odd. Who would wear a sunglasses in a dark night club? In fact… “I don’t even know him!”

“Not like you have a choice,” the younger one replied, who looks like a regular at the club. “Either that or kiss your career goodbye. You have no choice.” The older women gave her a look of disgust. The younger one seems to reconsider her words. “Actually, you do.”

“What is that?”

“Marry Bie. Isn’t that what your parent wants?”

“WHAT?!! I can’t do that. Peung will hate me!” the older one exclaimed. She rested her elbow on the bar and rubbed her forehead. “There has to be another way, Mint. Maybe I should request for a vacation and get some things sort out.”

Mint sighed. “As if your manager will let you. You have to make a choice tonight. Knowing your manager, she’s already making calls to prepare the wedding.”

Yaya couldn’t help herself and laughed. This is ridiculous. Arrange marriages and work scandals? What era are they living in? No wonder the older one look a little familiar to her, even in that get-up. “If you ask me, I’ll choose the lesser of the two evils.”

Sammie, Yaya guessed from the get-up, quickly readjust her glasses and profile, while the younger one, Mint, looked at her with interest. “The lesser of the two evils?”

Yaya shrugged. “Beats me. I don’t know what’s going on, but if I were you, I would choose the one that will benefit me more. From your predicament, I would choose to marry that stranger.”

“HOW WILL MARRYING A STRANGER BENEFIT ME?!” Sammie practically screamed. Luckily the music was blasting very loud, so no one heard anything.

She smiled. “That’s up to you to decide. Watch some lakorns. You’ll come up with something.” Grabbing her drink from the bar, she jumped down from her stool. “Nite, girls. Hope to see your decision soon. I’ll be looking forward to it.” She winked at them and left, leaving the two with their mouth hanging open.

Sammie and Mint watched the women stride to the other side of the club. Mint was the first to be able to utter a word. “D—did she just—”

“Looks like our cover’s blown,” Sammie replied dryly.

Mint sighed. “That was obvious.” She crossed her arms as she continued to stare in the direction the women had gone to. “Sammie—that woman… I’ve seen her before.”

Sammie frowned. “Me too… She—she looks like….”

Mint clicked her fingers. “I know who she is!”

Sammie looked over to Mint, and something clicked in her head. “Ah! You’re right! She—”

“The photographer, Urassaya Sperbund!” both of them exclaimed at the same time.

Meanwhile, Yaya watched from the other side of the club as the two women left. She shook her head. That’s definitely them alright. This is ridiculous. They just had a scandal and to show themselves here… that’s just stupid.

Luckily they smarten up and left. Yaya sighed. Although she doesn’t personally know Sammie, the both of them had been introduced a year before. Mint was also there. At the time, Sammie was rising in her career and Yaya was hired to do a few photo shoots for her. Though both girls were polite and kind, she was too caught up in her work to really get to know them. To meet them a year after, in this situation… She hopes they manage to get out of this.

A few miles away, in a suite of a five star condominium, Nadech Kukimiya, or Barry to his friends, found himself in an interesting predicament.

“I’m not asking much. Just for you to basically find out what is wrong and help her get through it.”

“I’m not exactly a psychiatrist, Mai. I just treat patients when they are ill and perform certain surgeries. If they have any sort of mental issues, I send them to another doctor,” he tried to explain to his friend. “Besides, you are her sister. Why can’t you talk to her?”

He heard her sighed on the other line. “If only it was that easy. I wouldn’t be asking you if could. I didn’t realize anything was wrong until she moved out. Ever since then, it’s like the both of us are strangers. Now, she won’t even talk to me. Someone recommended a psychiatrist, but I don’t think Yaya would appreciate that. So I thought maybe you could lend a hand.”

Barry scratched his head. So much for wanting a relaxing evening after work. It was one of those evenings he gets to get out early. He closed his eyes and rubbed his nose. He can feel himself giving into Mai.

They met back in college and somehow manage to keep in contact even years after. Although they don’t hang out like most friends do on a basis, due to different work and careers, they still maintain a close relationship. Mai is now a fashion designer with her own clothing line. And since knowing her, he couldn’t recall a single time she had ever asked him for a favor.

“Let me get this straight. You want me to go meet your sister, find out what’s wrong with her, and then help her so she can returned to the person she had been before she moved out ten months ago. Am I correct?”

“That basically covers it.”

Barry sighed. “You owe me one.” The squeal coming from the other line was so loud, he had to hold the phone away from his ear.

“Thank you, thank you. Thank you! I promise I’ll make it up to you! I promise!”

He chuckled. “Don’t worry about it. I’ll see what I can do.”

An hour later, Barry found himself in front of another suite in another five-star condominium. After a quick shower, he had called Mai for her sister’s address, found out her condo’s address and suite number, and drove over. Since it’s only seven in the evening, he expected her to be home. Unfortunately…he’s making another phone call to Mai.

“She’s not here. Her housekeeper informed me that she’s not home.” Barry shook his head at the notion of having a housekeeper when living in a condo. Housekeeping is the condo’s job.

“Oh dear,” Mai said. “She’s must be at the club again. Auntie has been informing me that Yaya had been going there ever since she moved out.”

Barry frowned. “This is a workday. Doesn’t your sister work?”

“I’m afraid not. She just graduated recently. No steady work yet. I didn’t expect her to be out today. I informed Auntie to make sure she stays home today. I have a feeling she’ll be getting herself into trouble again. Lately, she’s been even worse, going out early and coming home in the wee hours of the morning drunk as ever. Do you mind looking for her at the club?”

Yes, he does mind, he almost blurted out. He has no time to deal with wild woman. And he’s only off tonight and tomorrow. “I’ll see what I can do. Where’s her usual club?”

After three night clubs, and many long drives, Barry found himself in a popular night club in one of the busiest part of Bangkok. She better be here, he thought. Although he’s not tired, having become accustomed to the long hours that doctors put up with, he’s coming up with a raging headache and he can feel himself working up some steam. “And she better not make it difficult for him than it already is.”

His worst fears were realized when he found his charge at a crowded table, making a complete fool of herself. She’s obviously three sheets to the wind, singing off-tune and doing her best to dance while keeping her balance. And what’s worst, she’s having fun at it. Men were obviously interested and were encouraging, while the other women clapped their hands and hooted cheerfully. This must really not be his day.

He came up to their table and stood behind her. “The show’s over people, go home.” Everyone at the table paused and looked at him. Everyone, except his charge, since she continued to dance and sing until he placed his hand on her arm. “Yaya. It’s time to go home.”

She paused and turned to face him, or at least tried to turn, since she managed to lose her balance and almost fall on him. But she caught herself and use him as support. “W-who are y-you?”

“Your ride home,” he answered dryly, and tried to steer her toward the exit. But she eluded his grasp and wobbled toward the dance floor.

“No… I—I want t-to dance…”

He followed her. “Playtime’s over. You’re going home.” He tried to grab her again. She managed to escape him again. “Yaya!” She shook her head, while trying gain her balance. At this point, everyone was starting to stare at them. Barry sighed. “Yaya, let’s go home. Your sister is worried.”

That seemed to get her attention. She looked at him “S-sister? W-orried?” She grunted. “Li-like I ca-re.” She lost her balance again and caught the edge of a table close by for balance. After recovering, she laugh. “I-I want to dance.” The started to dance but ended up loosing her balance again. Unfortunately, this time, she caught herself on a girl nearby and ended up grabbing her hair.

Barry winced as the girl’s hair parted with her head. “Ahhhh!!! My Wig! My Wig!” She yelped, staring at Yaya, who sat on the floor at her feet.

The girl started to scream and kicked up a fuss at Yaya, who seemed oblivious and stared blankly at the wig in her hand. After a short silence from her, she started to shake. For a moment, Barry thought she was going to cry. But instead, Yaya let out a laugh, holding the wig up high. “Look! A-a wig! A w-wig! Hahaha.”

Everyone started to laugh while the girl started getting even madder. Having seen enough, Barry walked up to Yaya and helped her up. “Let’s go.” Yaya struggled and tried to get away. But he wasn’t going to let her get away this time. “Stop struggling! Let’s go. You caused enough trouble.”

About twenty minutes later, they were on the road. And Barry’s headache is now an official migraine. “Let me go! Let me go! Rapist, let me go!” Barry focused on the road and tried to ignore her yelling. She had been doing that since he got into the car. “Rapist! Kid-dnapper! Le-let me go!”

Just ignore her and keep on driving, Barry, he lectured himself. Just keep on driving. Easier said than done. She started calling him even worst names and yelling louder and louder until he could no longer stand it. “Shut up!” he yelled. “For heaven’s sake, just be quiet!”

Barry isn’t the type to raise his voice, and people who know him know better than to provoke him when he does. Unfortunately, Yaya doesn’t know him, and she started to yelled and started to kick a fuss by grabbing him and the steering wheel. “Let me go! Let me go! Rapist! Kidnapper! Let me go!!”

“Hey! What are yo—stop this! Let go!” he struggled to her off him. “Yaya, get off! Stop this! Yaya. We’re going to get into an accident! Yaya, stop! STOP!”

Honk, honk! “Damn!” Barry hit the brake turned the steering wheel with all his might and then cover his body over Yaya.

Screeeeeeeeeeeeecchhhhhhh!

I like how mainhia writes cause it doesnt give you a heard time and the reader can easily imagine it. Im going to use that in mine :p I like using just dialogues and i also like to add some paragraph like you to add some spice too. and i agree, you have to think about how/what to write which makes it tougher. but it all good =D
