What an extremely mediocre lakorn and I think I'm being overly generous. I liked Kah Ma Gub Prah from Coliseum. That was a fun lakorn with interesting characters and relationships. This one was a dud.
First of all, the pra'ek, Tawan, is absolutely useless, weak, and void of personality. Kem's acting was pretty dead and emotionless here and I don't think it's all his fault even. He didn't have very much to work since Tawan was such a dull character that didn't have very much going for him. Tawan's role was to pretty much be the victim. That's basically it. He could hardly defend himself from the bad guys and just stood there as he got hurt, he let the n'ek get out of his grasp even though it was so easy to save her when she was kidnapped, and he never once thought to help his dad get the cure for his curse. Dude literally just sits and stands around as people do things. The n'ek, Pim, she was cool. She at least had personality and wasn't completely helpless. She actually took action and took charge. Homeboy also did not fight for the n'ek at all, she was always the one to come to him first. The romance was a snore fest. Kem and Tubtim have some chemistry but lakorn wasn't doing anything for them. Their misunderstandings near the end with Tawan pushing Pim away was dumb.
The most pointless thing was killing Tawan's mom off. The lakorn even acknowledges that it was pointless when Tawan asks why she did it. Why the hell did she take a bullet for Tawan knowing that he's bulletproof. Also, Rul had way too much surgery done on her face. She looks completely different from what she looked like in Mon Ruk Arsoon.
I was rooting for Sangae and Pukong a lot more than the main love story. Sangae and Pukong actually had development in their relationship and they were interesting. I enjoyed their scenes in the forest.
The secondary villains, Kloy and Klae were kind of comedic relief. Their gang was so dumb it was funny. Their gang was so useless, most of their plans end up failing badly. The villains in this lakorn took up way too much of the lakorn it was like 70% bad guy scenes, 10% Pukong and Sangae's story, 15% n'ek's story, and 5% pra'ek's story.
Coliseum is an action production, it seems that they care more about the action rather than the story telling. This lakorn would have been so much better if they utilized the past scenes more rather than spend so much time in that damn forest. They could have spent time developing the pra'ek and n'ek's love in the past scenes and did flashbacks back and forth. It looks like they just spent one day filming the past life scenes. Tawan and Pim hardly even acknowledge their past either. Usan is literally the main villain but he hardly does anything in his quest for vengeance. The Bhalat is also such a one dimensional bad guy as well. Hands down the best character is the Pukong. Kah Ma Gub Prah is way better in terms of storytelling and relationship development. BigM's Sak character is also way better than Tawan. The camera work is pretty shoddy here too, like DaraVDO quality.
