A story of comfort women who were sexual slaves during WWII

Feb 17th (Fri): 12pm (play), 1pm (workshop)

This Play, ¡°A Bird Returning Home without a Wing,¡± directed by SeungIl Shing, is a very powerful story of Comfort Women.

¡°Comfort Women¡± is a euphemism for the over 200,000 young women and girls forced into sexual slavery by the Japanese military during World War II. While 80 % of the women were from Korea, others were taken from China, the Philippines, Burma, Indonesia, and other regions occupied by Japan. Japan¡¯s Emperor has never formally apologized or provided reparations for its crimes against these women.

Even today, many aged formal Comfort Women, ¡°Grandmas,¡± are protesting outside the Japanese Embassy in Seoul, Korea every Wednesday since 1992, ¡°Wednesday Protest¡±, regardless of rain and snow¡¦

After the play there is a workshop, ¡°Past, Present, and Future of Comfort Women¡± by Cliff Lee (Young Koreans United of USA) and Eun Sook Lee (Korean American for Peace and Justice).

On Saturday (2/18) at 4pm, we will have a car pool at the Korean Resource Center. Please contact at <djyoon @ krcla .org> for it.
