Chapter 1: The Beginning of Change
point of view: Toey

New. It was the only word stuck in my mind since forever. It was only last year when that devastating event occurred leaving me with no hand to hold. I ws by myself, alone again. Mom and dad had passed away in a plane accident going to France for their anniversary.
“Mom. Dad. New.” I spoke softly so that no one else would hear and only I and the spirits of my family could hear. I closed my eyes still remembering their clear images. This past year, I have been like a lifeless person with no hopes and happiness but I still don’t remember what got me to engage to him, Sakon Stratastedet. He was every girl’s dream. Tall, handsome, great build, and had the to-die-for smile. Although, he wasn’t my dream guy. Before I could think of anything else, hands set down on my shoulders massaging them. I already knew it was Chakop so I didn’t care to turn around.
“Please smile for me, Toey.” Sakon replied but his words were like waves which bounced off things and didn’t matter. I was uncomfortable with his hands on my shoulder, so I moved them away crossing my arms.
“Go away if you want me to smile.” I said knowing that it was harsh, but this guy didn’t seem like he cared about my parent’s death. It seemed like he wanted them to die, but I didn’t want to think about that.
“Toey, -” he spoke again.
“Please…go away.” I demanded hearing the noise of footsteps behind me decrease. The door behind me shut. I was grateful to be in the V.I.P part of the train so that no one could bug me. Sakon had insisted on the V.I.P. part of the train because he knew how annoyed I was by the outside world. We were going to my dear friend, Wratida’s farm. Her dad wasn’t feeling well and I didn’t know him well but I could feel Wratida’s hurt. Wratida and I have went to middle school and high school together, all the same classes but then she moved away before going to college. I was hoping that maybe the farm would make me some how happier. Minutes later, I sat there thinking about yesterday.

Flashback
“I can’t believe you’re coming tomorrow to my dad’s farm. It’ll be like old times.” Wratida replied.
“Anything to get my mind of what happened…last year.” I replied sitting glumly on the chair before my laptop. I had just plugged in my camera to the computer to put in the photos I had taken. They were of New and I at the flower garden. I looked on the screen seeing a photo of New and I with huge bulging eyes as New stuck out his tongue. He was so cute.
“Toey? Toey? Hello, are you there?” Wratida kept calling.
“Huh? Oh yeah, I’m here. I’ll see you tomorrow. Good night.” I spoke hanging up. I stared at the screen as a teardrop fell from my eye. I wiped it softly.
“What is this?” a voice hollered behind me. I turned around seeing Sakon.
“Nothing.” I said covering the computer screen with my hands. I stared at him with a red face as he walked quickly over to me. He stared at my suspiciously ripping my hands off the screen. He stared at the photos of New and I and then back at me.
“I said, what is this?” Sakon asked.
“Uh, uh, it’s just a friend.” I spoke.
“Do you think I don’t know him? He’s New, that jerk that died.” Sakon replied.
“Don’t dare call him jerk!” I said standing up from my chair.
“He is a jerk! A bastard! A-” Sakon replied as I slapped him. He had no right to call New anything. Sakon held onto his cheek staring at me hard as he grabbed my arm.
“Forget about him, remember, from now on you’re my fiance.” Sakon replied. I slapped him again.
“Don’t call me fiance. We are just engaged because of my parents. I have no intention of being with you!” I remarked pushing him away. He grabbed my camera looking at the photos. He deleted all the photos and threw the camera on the ground.
“Stop being such a bad mouth.” Sakon replied walking out of the room.
“Stupid!” I yelled as he shut the door behind him and when I said stupid, I meant it because I had already put the pictures onto the computer.

End of Flashback

Minutes later, the train stopped as I fell forward hitting my head on the table.
“Oww.” I remarked rubbing my head. I had just fell to sleep, I think. I stood up trying to hold my balance. Sakon was behind me holding our suitcases so I continued walking out of the train with him behind me. We were both quiet and I felt a pinch of guilt from saying that before, so when we looked at each other, I smiled politely letting him know I was sorry. He smiled back.
“Toey!” a voice screeched. I was startled and looked to where the voice was from. Of course, it was from, no other than, Wratida. She’s a short but very pretty girl. She’s shorter than me but only by about 5 centimeters. I ran over to Wratida embracing her in my arms. We hugged for a while holding each other tightly.
“Wratida, I missed you.” I spoke with watery eyes. But don’t worry, they were tears of joy.
“Me, too. How’s life?” Wratida asked as we let go of each other.
“Fine, yours?” Toey asked.
“Simple, but I have so much to tell you.” Wratida spoke. Then she went on rambling about something and to tell you the truth, I wasn’t paying attention. I loved Wratida, but sometimes she was just a loudmouth. We continued walking until I paused. Wratida stared at my face stopping mid-sentence.
“What’s wrong” she asked.
“Oh, yeah. Forgot. There’s my fiance.” I said swirling around and pointing at Sakon.
“Oooooh, he looks cute from the back. Why didn’t you tell me?” Wratida asked approaching Sakon. I felt bad for forgetting him but I was in the phase of seeing Wratida. I walked slowly over to Wratida and Sakon. They were picking up clothes that Sakon had dropped all over the floor from his suitcase. His pants and shirts were everywhere. Hopefully, no underwear.
“Hey, sorry, Sakon.” I said walking to them. I stopped and studied their strange expressions. They stared at each other not blinking until I waved my hand in between their staring. They blinked.
“Oh, hey Toey.” Wratida said quickly picking up the clothes as if she was in a rush to get home.
“Hey.” I spoke still staring at their faces. I knew there was something weird going on but since I didn’t want a headache, I ignored the fact. After we were done picking up his clothes, we crawled in Wratida’s small, red car. She was driving as I sat in the passenger seat. Sakon sat in the back but I could see Wratida looking in the mirror at Sakon after each minute. I put my arm out of the window feeling the fresh clean air slapping against my skin. It was a great feeling, I have to admit. We were now at the countryside and I was excited, for once. I haven’t felt this feeling in a long time. I had a hope to have fun here with Wratida, but then there was this feeling in me like something great was going to happen. Something great, what could that possibly be?
“We’re here.” Wratida said as I snapped out of my thoughts. I smiled at her as Sakon opened the door for me. I exited staring at the building in front of me. Surely it wasn’t like anything I’ve ever seen.
“Here, come in.” Wratida said leading Sakon and I into the house. He followed me and we went into the room that was already set up for us.
“Ummm, is it possible for Sakon to sleep in another room?” I asked Wratida.
“Toey.” Sakon replied.
“Aren’t you guys engaged?” Wratida asked looking at both of us.
“Yes, but…..but I’m just not ready.” I said looking at Sakon. He seemed mad like he wanted to sleep with me or something.
“Sure. There’s an empty room over there but we didn’t clean it yet.” Wratida said.
“Oh, it’s alright.” Sakon said still looking at me. Wratida lead Sakon over to that room as I entered my bedroom for now. It was alright. I could live in it. Anyways, I liked the color of the room. Lime green walls with pitch white carpet. It was comfortable and so was this farm. I stared outside at the farm and all the animals from the window until I spotted a guy wearing a hat. He seemed familiar but I couldn’t quite tell who he was since he was so far away and he was wearing a hat.
“New, I wish you were here…with me.” I said holding my arms together and as I saw that a butterfly flew towards me landing on the window sill. I smiled.

Chapter 2: Puzzle Pieces
Point of view: [unknown]
Day: Same Day as Chapter 1

Sigh. What was wrong with me? It seemed as if I was dead or something but riding horses always got my mind of things. I loved Shinyy, my male horse. I’ve only been with him for months, but it seems like he’s part of my family. Shinyy stopped as if he sensed danger, but I knew who it was. Wratida. I could hear footsteps behind me coming closer. I smirked.
“Wratida? Do you really think you can scare me?” I said. I could hear giggling.
“No, I just try to scare you but it never works. How did you know?” Wratida asked stepping in front of me.
“You mean, how wouldn’t I know?” I asked her.
“Ugh, never mind. You never actually answer the question.” Wratida said kneeling on the grass. I kneeled before her.
“That’s just me.” I said poking her cheek. She smiled. Wratida had a pretty smile. Her smile always included her shiny white teeth and she always smiled. To make her smile was about the easiest thing, just like another person….
“Let’s go see my dad.” Wratida said standing up.
“Yes.” I said as she dragged me into the house. Wratida’s dad was sleeping in his room on the bed. He had been stuck with a terrible disease that made him weaker these days. We walked into the room quietly trying not to wake up Uncle Mondooliya, Wratida’s dad.
“Uncle.” I said seeing his eyes open.
“Dad.” Wratida replied running over to the side of the bed. I followed as she bent down beside her dad with tears.
“Dad, I’m so worried about you. My friend, Toey is visiting today, Dad. I’ll be picking her up soon.” Wratida said holding her dad’s hand in hers.
“If you need help, I’ll be here. I’ll stay with you in here, Uncle Mondooliya.” I spoke.
“Thank you, my beautiful daughter and my handsome son.” Uncle said patting Wratida’s head. I frowned. It seemed as though Uncle was getting weaker. I was worried but tried not to think about it at all.
“I shall go now. I’ll see you later, Dad.” Wratida said to her dad. He nodded as Wratida got up and left the room.
“Boy, come here.” Uncle said.
“Yes, Uncle.” I said kneeling beside him.
“I want to ask you something, something important indeed.” Uncle replied practically trying hard to spit out every word.
“Uncle, what is it?” I asked.
“Please take care of Wratida…..if I’m not here anymore.” Uncle said close to tears.
“Uncle, please don’t say that. You’ll be alright.” I said.
“You have to take care of Wratida, promise me. Promise me that you’ll take care of my only daughter.” Uncle said yelling. I held his hands in mine.
“I will, I promise, Uncle. I promise with all my heart.” I said and I really meant it. Wratida was just like a sister even though I only knew her for months, she was like someone I grew up with.
“I trust you, boy. I trust you.” Uncle said right before he stopped talking and his eyes closed. I was freaking out and took my cell phone out of my pocket ready to call the hospital when I heard something.
“Boy, that was just a test. I trust you. You care about me and my daughter and I want to say thanks.” Uncle said with a great big smile. I took a deep breath.
“Thanks for trusting me.” I said smiling. Uncle was great. I should’ve seen it coming since he always gave me tests to see which kind of person I was. Uncle…saved my life and I’ll never forget that day…..
“Please let me rest.” Uncle said as I put the blanket on him gently. I nodded and walked out of the room softly closing the door. I walked outside into the barn house to get Shinyy. I put on a hat so the sun wouldn’t burn me. Shinyy always made me feel better and think about what was important, not about what worried me.
“Shinyy, boy, come here.” I said clapping my hands together. Right then, Shinyy came running up to me. His eyes glittered at me as I smiled. I stepped into his back and rode out into the field. Minutes later, I heard a car pulling up in the driveway. Here they were, those people. I went back into the stables with Shinyy. I hated meeting new people. I didn’t like change that much.

Minutes Later
I sat on the wooden fence fanning myself. Boredom kills. It’s true. Where was Wratida? Usually by now, she’d be entertaining me.

Change of Point of View: Toey
Time: Currently Continuing from [unknown]’s point of view

“Oie, where is Wratida and Sakon?” I asked myself wandering through the grasses.
“Hey.” a voice spoke as I looked up. Although, the person wasn’t talking to me. I also couldn’t see the face of the mysterious “hey” person. He was the guy I had seen before at my window. What was he doing here? From what I know, Wratida didn’t tell me anything about “him.” It was my job to go find out who he was. I looked up at him to see his gentle face then recognizing it.
“New?” I asked shocked. We stared at each other as if we had never seen each other. It was New. He had everything just like him. His face, his structure, his smile. I cried hugging him so tight that it seemed like we were going to get stuck.
“Toey.” he said hugging me back. Suddenly, I was scared. What if this was just my imagination? What is this wasn’t true?
“Wait, are you sure you’re human?” I asked poking him to see if I could actually touch him. He smiled.
“Yes, why? Am I alien?” New asked. I hugged him again so tight.
“Oh, New, I have so much to tell you.” I spoke. We started walking as his hand was in mines.
“You man stealer! I thought we were friends.” Wratida said running over to us. She pushed me away as I fell to the ground. New ran over to me picking me up.
“Wratida, it’s not like that.” I said standing up. I held her hands in mines.
“Then what are you doing? New is my crush!” Wratida yelled. I looked at her shocked then at New. I was now engaged and my best friend liked him. It was all too sad. I couldn’t believe it. I looked at both of them then ran away as fast as I could before someone could ask me what was wrong. Then I stopped until I reached the house. I sat down on the tender grass. I just met New but my friend likes him. What was I going to do?

Change of Point of View: Wratida
Time: Currently Continuing from Toey’s point of view

I smiled at New standing before me as he looked at the direction Toey had just ran. I felt a bit guilty for pushing Toey but I couldn’t lose New, I loved him so much.
“Wratida.” New spoke.
“Yes?” I asked.
“We need to talk.” New replied. I nodded following him. On the way, I passed Sakon and didn’t even care to look at him.

Flashback
“If you ever tell anyone about what happened between us,…” Sakon said.
“Why not?” I asked staring at him.
“Because now I’m in love with Toey and only her.” Sakon remarked. Those words hit me like huge boulders of rocks. I frowned. The history of Sakon and I was ongoing. I should’ve knew he didn’t like me but still I liked him. We had been dating in high school a lot over and over until he left me and didn’t tell me anything. I’d been crying over that for days, actually months. I stared at him remembering everything we shared together, all the memories and smiled we always had on our faces. I leaned in to kiss him.
“Things can’t be the same. We know what will happen if we kiss.” Sakon replied moving his head. He walked away as tears rolled down my eyes.
“It was all a joke, wasn’t it?” I asked myself as I sat down on the ground covering my face with my hands.

Back to the Real World
“What is it you need?” I asked New as he sat down. I sat down beside him on the couch in the main room of the house.
“I need to tell you about…..Toey…and I.” New said. I was unsure but then nodded. I didn’t want to ignore their past together.
“Toey was my fiance before and we were going to get married. Your dad told me that he found me laying down by the lake. I wasn’t quite sure how I got in the lake but all I remembered was that I was driving to the wedding and there was an accident. I didn’t want to go back to Toey when I got better because I wanted to stay and help your dad. I know your dad saved my life but I love Toey a lot. God has gave me another chance to live again to see Toey.” New explained. At the end of his explaining, I was bawling my eyes out.
“I see how it is. Some people just aren’t meant to be happy and one of those people are me. Thanks for explaining New. I will always love you as a brother.” I said now realizing why New had drew that picture of him and that little girl. It was Toey.
“Thanks, Wratida. I hope one day, you get a guy who’ll actually love you back.” New spoke walking away. I nodded staring before me at the window.

Change of Point of View: Sakon
Time: Currently Continuing from Wratida’s point of view

I stared inside at Wratida crying. I couldn’t help myself from feeling hurt. I was only marrying Toey for….what reason. I couldn’t explain it except all I knew was that in my head, love only meant hurt. Ever since I was young, my parents hated me. Toey’s parents always loved me and would always bring food to me. I wanted to pay them back by marrying Toey and loving her as much as I would love them. I thought Wratida would throw me away but she never did. I regret my actions.
“It’s time to do something I have to do.” I said to myself. I went to look for Toey.

Chapter 3: Unforgettable Close
Point of view: Toey
Day: Next Day of Chapter 2

I yawned stretching my arms out. Sakon had told me to meet him outside on the swing set. I rolled my eyes as I saw him. He walked over to me getting up from the swings.
“Toey, let’s cancel this engagement. I can’t endure it any longer. I love Wratida, not…you.” Sakon replied.
“Sakon, I’m glad to hear that. I was meaning to tell you something, too. I love New. I found my sweetheart. He’s also here, too. Can’t you believe it. He’s not dead.” I spoke hugging him. He hugged me back.
“I’m so happy for you, Toey.” Sakon remarked hugging me. I smiled. He was actually nice. I guess what made him nice was knowing that he was going to do something he wanted to do and that was to get Wratida. Although, she still liked…New. At that very moment, Wratida decided to walk over to us.
“Toey, please be happy with New.” Wratida said hugging me.
“What?” I asked. Wratida put my hands in hers as I could feel everything getting better. I remembered that yesterday, sadness occurred but now everything was getting better. I couldn’t help myself but smile.
“New and you love each other. I actually don’t love New as much as I do with someone else. Although, I don’t know if that person actually loves me.” Wratida replied glancing at Sakon. I laughed.
“How about you ask him?” I asked.
“Hey, I’m too shy.” Sakon said giving me a jokingly push. Wratida and I laughed.
“New wants to see you. Go the barn.” Wratida replied.
“Thanks, Wratida.” I said walking to the barn. Wratida smiled at me and then looked at Sakon. I knew things were going to get better for them but what about New? What if he changed and didn’t want to be with me anymore? I was at the doors of the barn deciding if to go in or not. I walked in deciding to take all of it in that was going to happen. Whether good or bad, I’ll endure it all. I stepped in staring at the huge mural of a girl with a pink dress and a guy with a blue collar shirt. They were walking on this spotted sidewalk through these bright-colored flowers. It was the flower garden and the people were New and I. I smiled as tears filled my eyes. Tears of joy.
“Like it?” New asked putting his arms on my shoulders.
“New.” I replied turning to face him.
“I made it just for you. I remembered everything about you. Everything.” he said putting his hand on my cheek.
“Me, too.” I spoke.
“You know where I want to go now?” New asked.
“Where?” I asked.

Change of Point of View: New
Time: Currently Continuing from Toey’s point of view

“Open your eyes.” I said to Toey. She immediately took off the bandana on her eyes and stared at the place before us. It was the flower garden. The garden where our dreams and happiness occurred.
“New, it’s our….” Toey remarked.
“It’s our dream place and home.” I spoke.
“Home?” Toey asked.
“Of course. I bought this place and soon we will build a house over there and live here forever, Toey. Now you can wake up and see this beautiful flower garden.” I poke.
“Oh, New.” Toey said hugging me. I smiled at him.

Weeks Later
Sakon and Wratida were getting along although they were always fighting.
“You messed up. You’re supposed to paint the sky blue!” Wratida yelled at Sakon.
“But it’s pink and orange because of the sunset.” Sakon hollered. I and Toey laughed. We were painting a mural of all of us standing here at the flower garden with Wratida’s dad. We were also going to build a second house for them here, too. Therefore, forever, we would always be together to help each other. I smiled at Toey as we drew each other on the mural.
“You made me too short!” Toey said pointing at the drawing I was doing.
“You are short.” I spoke.
“Hey!” Toey screamed putting some red paint onto my face. I guess the whole day, instead of painting a mural, we painted each other.

Change of Point of View: New and Toey
Time: Currently Continuing from New’s point of view

I guess in the end all our puzzle pieces went together and things were the same, more happier. My dream of living in a life with no regrets and only happiness was coming true. Although, we both had a lot of problems, we endured them all. Every single one. It was all worth it. I love my sweetheart and we love each other.
“You’re breathtaking.” New remarked.
“Oie, do you see normal people saying that?” Toey asked.
“Nope, but I do see me doing it.” New said embracing Toey in his arms.
“I love you.” New spoke.
“You’re too cheesy.” Toey replied.
“I do like cheese.” New said.
“Haha, crazy.” Toey remarked. Toey and New both laughed running off into the garden to find their destinations and happiness.

As you can see, the end for them was full of happiness. It was all worth it for what problems they had to endure.
