I was in a world for years lost. I was weak and helpless. I needed a helping hand to guide me through the right path. One day, I met that special person who guided me through. He was always there for me and was always positive. He was my everything. Not only did he know to make my heart race but he also knew how to give me the butterflies.
Chapter One
Day One
I stared outside in awe at the beautiful scenery below me. I had just gotten back from the United States. For the past few years, I had been going to school there and now I was finally returning to my beautiful town in Bangkok. My mom and dad were going to be so proud to see their baby girl come back home.
“The plane will land soon.” a voice said over the loud speaker. I took a long deep breath knowing that soon my whole new life was going to start. Back then, I was helpless and always got pushed around but now I was stronger and knew how to manage.
“Miss. Miss.” a voice hissed in my head. I quickly opened my eyes to see a young woman standing there.
“Huh. Yes?” I asked wiping my eyes.
“It’s time to get off the plane now. You fell asleep.” she spoke. I suddenly realized that I was the only one left in the plane. I smiled at her.
“Thanks, Miss.” I replied and walked out of the door. The Bangkok aroma filled my nose as I walked into the Bangkok Airport. I wondered who was going to come and pick me up. Hopefully, not the person I had in mind…
“Toey!!” a voice yelled. I turned around facing the person who was just a couple of feet away from me. There he was, a handsome guy who seemed like he was going to a formal meeting. I recognized him by the eyes and face.
“New!” I yelled as we ran to each other hugging. I could’ve sworn that if someone was watching us, it would be like a movie where the na’ek and pa’ek run to each other hugging tightly. We finally let go of each other staring at each other. Was it my sight fading or what? New, the chubby and mean kid, was this handsome and inviting stranger.
“Like my new look?” New asked. I nodded looking around for other family members.
“Oh, they’re all not here. They’re planning… something.” New replied. I was a bit disappointed that they didn’t come to pick me up but New was all I needed now.
“Come, we have to get to the bus before it leaves.” New said holding out his hand. I stared at it for a moment then grabbed it. He lead the way to the bus as I kept staring at how his expression was like.
Minutes Later
We were in the bus sitting next to each other.
“How’s America? Met any new guys? Missed me?” New said saying any possible questions ever.
“Actually America’s great. I met a lot of guys but not anyone that fits my heart and no, I didn’t miss you.” I said. He laughed. Ahhh….that great laugh. I stared at him for a while and then looked away. Don’t just judge people on their looks, Toey. I kept telling myself.
“You must’ve missed me the most. Remember, fat kid?” New said.
“Of course. What happened?” I curiously asked.
“Well, my girlfriend helped me loose some pounds. She works out all the time.” New stated. I was a bit disappointed that he already had a girlfriend. Not that I wanted to be his girlfriend, but New and I would always joke around saying that we were lovers when we were younger. It really wasn’t a surprise that he found someone. Anyways, he was amazingly handsome. I couldn’t help myself from staring at me.
“Staring, much?” he asked. I finally broke out of my long stares. Geesh, I always hated those long stares, where I would look at people or guys, and they would think that I liked them.
“Sorry. You just look… different…in a good way.” I said not wanting to hurt his feelings. He smiled.
“Not a problem. So you want to tell me a story or what?” New asked putting his arms behind his head. He rested on his arms. I could tell that this was going to be a pretty long ride so I thought I should tell something to make him think that I wasn’t my boring old self.
“Well…what should I talk about first?” I asked. He put his finger to his chin thinking.
“Tell me…about your friends.” New said. Why did he want to know about my friends? Was he concerned about who I was hanging out with. In the past, I was always bullied but New always helped me. Kids would laugh at him and call him Fatty but he was a good ignorer and always got me out of trouble. I loved Fatty.
“Sure. Well, I had a friend name Lolo. She’s very nice. She was so good at English and Thai. Whenever I needed help, I counted on her.” I explained. He seemed interested but that made me even shyer. I looked away from him thinking that would make me less shy but it didn’t work. I started sweating and I could feel my face get red.
“Are you okay? You’re face is getting red.” New said putting his hand up to my forehead. I stared into his dreamy eyes then looked away.
“I’m alright. Thanks.” I spoke.
“Maybe you should get a rest. You’re head is warm.” New replied. I was feeling a bit sleepy, so I decided not to lie. He took his sweater off and put it under my head as a pillow. I smiled looking out of the window. I didn’t want him to see me when I was sleeping. It seemed as if this New was a complete stranger. He had seen me sleeping a ton of times before but this time I didn‘t want him looking at me. I kept struggling to find the right position that would make me comfortable but nothing worked, so I faced New. Finally, I was comfortable. I could feel someone take a strand of hair away from my face. It was of course New. I smiled and then fell asleep.
Later
I woke up minutes later. It was probably hours later because it was very dark outside. I looked beside me to see if New was still there. He must’ve fell asleep after I went to sleep. I looked around to see what everyone else was doing. Suddenly the bus stopped.
“People, please stay put. The bus has just received a flat tire.” the voice said over the loud speaker. Great, I wanted to get home so soon but now that soon was fading away. New awoke seconds after the loudspeaker went off. He must’ve woke up from the racket people were making. They were talking about not getting to their destination right away but all I wanted to be right now was home…with my mom… and dad….and in bed… with no worries.
“What’s wrong?” New asked.
“Flat tire.” I said glumly. He yawned and stretched.
“Sucks.” New said. I smiled. I was grateful that he didn’t get rid of that word. He used it all the time…when we were younger.
“Yep.” I said not wanting to break the conversation.
“Everyone, please get out of the bus now. There is a garden place nearby where everyone can rest. Please exit carefully.” the loud speaker said once again.
“We shall go.” New said getting his bags. I also grabbed my bags as he held my hand in his.
“We have to stay together. There’s crowds of people. You might get lost.” he spoke.
“Me lost? I never get lost.” I said and I meant it. I never ever did. I remembered easily. Once I’ve gone to a place once, I would remember how to get there every time. He smiled and we kept walking. Our hands held each others tightly. I could feel my hand sweat into his. We were running through the crowds of chatting people. It was by far the weirdest day of my life. How often do buses break down from a flat wheel? How often do people get to rest at a garden place? How often do people get to spend time with a handsome guy? Not only was I stuck at the garden, but I was stuck with a prince, New. I didn’t get to go home yet, but staying with New made up for that.
