can't hear online video on speaker

anyone can help my problem here?

somehow my sister computer can't hear audio anymore. I mean when play song in Window Media it hears, but when watching videos online like youtube, veoh, etc. the audio isn't working. i adjust the volume in the volume control to it's highest, but still can't hear anything from online video.

Does she have 5.1 surround sound on the laptop?

I think that might be it. Change it back to default.

it's her pc that doesn't hear sound from online. i did some research and it says to open control panel to adjust the volume. but the thing is control panel is gone. don't know where it goes after she reboot her computer. is there a way i can restore control panel?

Let me explain to you what I mean.

The videos on the internet uses regular sound and 2 channel at that. That means if your system is setup a certain such as 5.1 surround sound then you might not hear the sound (even though its actually working)

As for the control panel, I'm not sure about that. It shouldn't disappear at all. Are you using xp ? Perhaps she just changed how it was arranged?

There's probably nothing wrong with your sister's pc, but it might lack the proper audio codecs that were used to compress the audio of those videos on youtube, veoh, or other online streaming sites.

Since you're getting the audio codec might as well update your videos as well.

Just pick anyone of those codec package....like K-Lite Codec or K-Lite Mega Codec Package [FULL]

It'll solve the audio problem unless there was something else that's causing it.
