Hey you guys...so my husband was using my computer. Not sure if he caught a virus or not, but he said that the computer went blank and it shut off I think and when he turned it back on. Everything was gone. There are no files what so ever. WindowsRecovery popped up and scanned it and it keeps telling me that I have a Hard Drive Failure.

Critical hard disk drive error has been detected!
Windows Recovery detected a bad secton on your hard disk drive.

- Data corruption and loss
- Hard drive inaccessibility
- System erros and failures.

So do you guys think there is a virus or it's really just a Hard Drive issue? What do I need to do to fix this?
Help please.

It's a virus or malware to be exact. I get these every once in awhile. I don't get them anymore since I started using VIPRE (It's an awesome antivirus!)

But here is a link that tells you how to remove it

http://www.expertsupportnow.com/979/how-to-remove-windows-recovery-virus-malware/

You can also try this link, it has pictures of what the virus or malware looks like so you can see if it's the correct one. Sometimes it can be the same one just different colors and etc

You'd have to start your computer under safemode though because the malware won't allow you to open some of these stuff. Hope that helps

Tina, Thanks for the help, but will it bring all my files back after I remove it? Because my computer is totally empty. Not even a single button...programs files are all wiped out and everything. I'm currently on my laptop right now. I'll give a try on the safemode though. I think the link you gave me for the Windows Recovery Virus is exactly what I have.

Thanks Tina, the websites you gave me above were very helpful. I do need one more help though. All of my program files under the start menues have returned but the contents within the folders under all programs are all wack. It's not in it's apporiate folders. The folders are empty, but when I search for them with the C drive it's all there. Just all in the wrong places. How do I get them back into it's orginally settings. I tried doing a Restore Point but all of my restore points are gone. Please help.
