When you say exotic... first word in my head is seductive...

I don't really like to use the word 'exotic' on people..like when non-Asians refer to Asians as being 'exotic' it feels I don't know, just weird and wrong. Usually you would describe other things as being exotic like 'exotic plants' or 'exotic animals'...blah I'm just rambling.

i know what ur trying to say, in terms of the word, "exotic", well at least i think i know what ur saying. are u trying to use it in the sense that it's "unique" or a "distinct kind of beauty"?

the problem is that it hasn't been used that way by most westerners, like the other ppl says. it's something used to describe "physical objects"...so it's been used to objectify women from non-anglo ethnic backgrounds. that's why it's kind of and .....eeeeek...word. personally, i hate using that word and definitely hate it being applied to me. but most europeans use it a lot, because it goes along the lines of the idea of wild (sauvage for french) and they think it's a good thing, it "could" also mean beautiful to them. however, it has many other negative connotations that i had to eventually burst my friend's european bubbles with. :)

if ur trying to be too western, ur no longer exotic because being exotic is to have the originality of the first package like culture and customs, the food and language spoken.

BUT u can still be exotic in an erotic way. lol....- _ -

im like....err...w/e....i just got home from work..tired...

i don't see why some people didn't love the term exotic , in my opinion when someone tell u that u are exotic it's generally to do a compliment....like here in France sometimes u meet some peolple tell u tha u have an exotyp type... but it's not a bad things like kawiitonyo say it mean unique, rare and of course differents... i prefer keep this difference because i khnow that a ot of people are really jealous by that.....

If you like to consider yourself exotic that is your perogative. You have a right to claim your own identity. I would just challenge you to develop a deeper understanding of what the histories and cultures of your various ethnicities are and perhaps you will see some of the problems with the use of the term “exotic”. Cuz if you just say that your “asian, melanesian and british”, but have no understanding of what that means than what’s the point?.
Anyway,I think that its great that mixed ethnicity is gaining notice. I love diversity and I enjoy seeing mixed racial couples and their children,i am one of those, lol. It represents more to me than just “good-looking” or “good-stock” offspring. It represents the blurring of the color line, spotlighting diversity as a positive thing and encouraging people to open their eyes and their hearts to what is different from themselves. I have learned to not get too upset about people making mistakes about ethnicity. Some people are ignorant, but that doesnt make them stupid. As long as they are open-minded and willing to listen and understand, then there is no reason to be annoyed or upset. I see it more as an opportunity to expose people to different cultures and teach them about what I know of my own.
