External Burners

ok... I jus had enough of my burner .. like it will read... but it won't burn.. like it will keep spinning and it'll eject the disc saying .. that I need to insert a blank when what I entered was a blank.. so I guess its broken and I need a new burner... thinking about buying an external one .. anyone have any suggestions on what I should look or be weary of when buying an external burner?

and system requirements for adding an average external burner?

p.s.s... yeah yeah grandpa is gonna tell me to just buy a new computer.. but I will .. when my parents give me money muahha cause ... I dun wanna use my own cash for it LOL I'd rather spend it on other stupid stuffs o__O

ok u might've answered this already somewhere but i must ask again... is it because of the cd that u're using? some writers aren't able to read some media to write on. i find it strange but it's happened to me before, i don't have an external but i've experimented alot with burners because i used to use it alot, and some blank disc are ok on one burner but while i put it on another computer it doesn't read the disc to burn. it's quite odd.

muahha I've tried like 7 different brands Lmfao .. and umm now in my room I have over 1000 blank discs LOL thats just cd's too! lol because they are like diff brands lmao each tower has like 100 cd's hahah and I have 10 towers.. lol and umm dvd's are a diff thing lolx =x

I know and its so frustrating to have all these discs and can't use them!!! LOL darnit .. and also umm.. umm lol like when i wanan burn cd's and don't have any of them but then now i have them and can't use it LOL darN!

Happen to me a couple of times. I usually restart the computer and it will work again. If you leave you computer on for a long period of time and suddenly you go to Nero or whatever burning programs you use to burn music/dvd. Sometimes the CD-R drive or DVD-R drive would not be noticeable. Or when when you put in a blank CD, it would just say please insert another blank CD.

Try to restart your computer when it happen again. If that work than yea .. you have to restart everytime you get that 'msg'. If it don't than it might be that your burner is jack or the disc is unreadable or not capable with the CD-R/DVD-R Drive.

As for external drive. I wouldn't recommend it because it will break faster than the internal drive. But if you gonna buy it. Buy a cheap one cus it will read just about any blank cd or if you gonna get a external DVD-R drive .. blank dvd-r. Beside, if it break than all you have to do is throw it away and buy a new one. If you have warranty than go get another one. I think all computers parts come with 1 yr manufacturing warranty.
