I'll be going there too, but only as an entrance and exit city. I'm visiting a small city close by (I think). Some of my international friends here at school are from Beijing and will be going back. They say it's a huge city. You'll get lost.
From my studies in China history, go visit Tianeamen Square(sp) (a great historic place). Beijing has lots of great sights (of course, because it is the capital) so there are many places you can go. I suggest you be real careful about your purse, wallet or bags. Keep it in front of you. There are many pocket thieves.
