***updated thread***

i went to class this morning and turned in 3 topics

1. ethnic group -- Hmong (history/origins, culture/traditions, etc..)
2. the Hmong New Year celebration (past, present, activities)
3. Shamanism (explain what it is, what is done, and how it's done)

i'm still debating on what i should do it on..
i was thinking about topic #1 because i ordered a book that might help me with my research

topic #2 would be fun for me because i will be able to use "fun" visual aids

topic #3 will receive many questions because it might seem a little bizarre for some people. lol.

oh yeah.. my presentation date is wednesday, march 4th

okay.. here's another topic from me.. asking for some help from you guys..
i'm planning to do an informative speech in my communications class
i was thinking about doing it about the Hmong people
because many people do not know who the Hmong people are
i'm going to take a poll in the class on monday when i go back to class
but uhm...
i need some websites, books, etc..
basically.. just places where i can get credible information
i will be required to cite things i say during my speech
and it has to be 5-6 minutes long...

www.hmoob.com and look under their "resource" link...they have a few good hmong sites.
www.hmongnet.org...they have lots of links.

That sound like a great topic. I won't google hmong. The source can't always be right. But here a website you can check it out. www.hmongabc.com
If you live in Minnesota it would be easier if you stop by. Hope this website help you.

You know..when i was in college I did a speech for my communication class on "what its like being hmong"

And I used this poem from the book bamboo among the oaks entitle "we hmong women"

It was the start of my speech...and really gave the rest of my speech an edge...I think you should look it up and see if you can use it...
