Chapter 15
It was a typical day on Arisoya’s kindergarten. The teacher was telling a story about a baby when suddenly a little girl raised her hand.
“Cindy, you have a question?� Their kind teacher asked.
“Teacher, where do babies come from?� The little girl asked.
“Babies are from heaven. You are all God’s gift to your parents.� The teacher told the class and smiled. The teacher’s statement made Arisoya confused so she raised her hand and asked a question.
“Teacher, I thought Mama and Papa are the one who makes a baby? My Papa told me that he and Mama are already trying to make a baby brother for me.� Arisoya asked. The teacher didn’t know how to answer her. She can’t explain the real how-to-make-a-baby process to this bunch of 4-year-olds. They are still too young.
“Uh…well…it’s like this...when your papa and ma..� The teacher couldn’t finish her sentence because a little boy suddenly stood up, adjusted his red eyeglasses up to the bridge of his little nose and spoke.
“According to the story books that our Mommy reads to us, a stork delivers the baby to his or her parents.� Red, Arisoya’s classmate exclaimed in his I-know-everything tone of voice. His twin brother, Blue, also stood up beside him.
“Yes! That’s what our Mommy told us!� Blue agreed with his twin brother. .
“That’s not true!� A little girl shouted at him.
“Babies are from cabbage patch! They grow from cabbages!� The little girl with braided hair explained.
“No, babies are from eggs. Our mommies lay eggs like a chicken does.� A little boy blurted out. Almost every kid in the class has his or her own idea on how a baby is made. The teacher instructed the children to calm down first so she can finally explain their subject matter.
Meanwhile, in a restaurant in Bangkok, Aff was sitting in a table near the window. She was staring outside while drinking her cup of coffee and thinking so deeply. The conversation she had with Tik an hour ago, once again played on her mind.

Aff entered the restaurant nervously. She didn’t know why Tik Jedsaporn, her ex-boyfriend, wanted to meet her all of a sudden. She didn’t understand why he flew all the way back to Thailand just to meet her. Aff searched the room and finally found Tik seated to the table near the window, smiling at her. She made her way to the table confidently.
“Have a seat, Dr. Paksukcharoen.� Tik said, still smiling at her. Aff took a seat across him and looked straight to his eyes. She was not actually delighted to see him.
“What’s with the look, honey? Not happy to see me?� Tik asked.
“Yes, I’m not happy to see you.� She said coldly. She couldn’t forget and will never forgive the things that Tik did to her. Tik was her first love. She thought he was the perfect man for her. He was the kind of guy that every woman would surely love. Aff fell so deeply in love with him in past but Tik never had that feeling for Aff. She didn’t know that he was an ultimate playboy and he only considered her as one of his many girls. When he was sick and tired of Aff, he broke up with her. Aff couldn’t face the reality that Tik didn’t really love her in the first place. She was blinded by love. Depression took over her life and she eventually became an alcoholic. Good thing, her mother and her best friend, Rita, came to her rescue and helped her to have a happy and normal life again.
“I’ve changed now. I’m not the same Tik as before.� He told her. Aff shook her head and chuckled. She doesn’t believe on Tik anymore.
“What do you want from me?� Aff finally asked him. He looked at Aff seriously and began to spoke.
“I heard you had a daughter.� He said.
“Yes, I have. And what does she have to do with you?� She said coldly.
“She has something to do with me. That little girl could be mine!� Tik explained. His voice was becoming fierce now. Aff chuckled.
“My daughter? Yours? How can she be your daughter when nothing really happened between us?� She asked him.
“Oh…Something happened between us. Haven’t you remembered the night we had in Phuket 4 years ago? We were both drunk that night and you passed out. I carried you to my room and you started kissing me, remember?� Aff was very confused now. Yes, she remembered she went to Phuket before and had a one-night stand with a guy but she couldn’t exactly remember who that man was. She was beside with her gay friend, Tommy, when she woke up the next morning so she assumed that Tommy was Arisoya’s father.
“But…Tommy was the one sleeping beside me when I woke up and I was sleeping in my hotel room…� Aff said slowly, trying to remember that particular night. Tik shook his head in denial.
“I left my room after we did it. Tommy probably carried you back to your room.� Tik explained. Aff was so confused now. Tik was telling him that he spent a night with her but Aff was certain that she didn’t even saw him during her stay in Phuket. Aff thought for a while and began to talk again.
“Even though you’re saying that we spent a night together before, my daughter is not yours. She’s someone else’s child.� Aff lied. It is possible that Tik is really Arisoya’s father. Aff only did it once before and if Tik is really telling the truth; he could really be Arisoya’s biological father. If that’s the real case, how on earth would Aff explain everything to Arisoya?�
“Someone else’s? Who could be that someone else?� Tik was also confused now.
“My husband, Aum Chumnanont.� She lied again. Her voice trembled a little. Tik was surprised on what she said. She stared at her blankly.
“You’re married?� He asked.
“Yes, I’m married. After a couple of months after we broke up, I met a good man. I know that he loves so much and he is indeed faithful to me.� She told again another lie. Tik shook his head. He couldn’t believe it.
“You’re voice is trembling. I know that you’re lying.� He said. Aff was surprised that Tik noticed that.
“To make it sure, let’s just have a DNA test for the 3 of you. You, my daughter and my husband.� She proposed. Tik agreed with her. He held her hand tight.
“If it’s proven that I’m her real father, I want to take responsibilities in raising her.� Tik told her softly. He stood up and kissed Aff on her cheek. She tried to pushed him away but it was too late. He then left the restaurant. Aff was left alone there. She was very confused now. Tik could possibly be Arisoya’s real father. If that is the truth, how could she possibly explain to the little girl that her Aum is not her real Papa?

Aff was staring outside the window, thinking deeply. Everything happened so fast. She hates herself because she couldn’t remember what exactly happened that night. If she could only remember it then this would never happen. She took a sip on her cup of coffee and sighed. Aff didn’t know that Aum saw everything. He saw his wife enjoying a cup of coffee with another man. He saw the way the man looked at her, the way he held her hand and even saw that he kissed his wife.
