How safe is it?

besides the whole trust issue on the uploader, is there any other way to get a virus (besides downloading one from a misleading link?).
like could u get a virus from opening a certain website such as the uploading ones (turboupload, sharebigfile, filefront...).
for the whole illegal issue, the sites used seem a lot safer than kazaa, morpheus, winmx, etc.. cuz arent the sites used for uploading large email attachments?? (except, here at sarnworld we use them to upload media).

You won't get a virus from going to the wrong site.. but you will get spyware and trojan and other stuff. Those are as bad as viruses. No you won't get them from reputable sites but if you go to certain sites like crack and porn sites you WILL get these annoying buggers.tang071 said:
Naw alot of people use the sites to transfer music and stuff. For services like filefront where files are stored a long time.. there could be an issue but a service like yousendit.com where the file will get erased from the HD after a few days.. Its pretty much impossible to track.

yeah going to websites for cracks and free ware stuff... there's alot of those spy wares but there are softwares to get em out from download.com... i think its called seadware or something, that's pretty good
as for uploaded stuff if u are unsure... u can always scan the file before downloading...unless u can't and u can scan before you open the file... like something u have to unzip.. but other than than... hmm i'm not sure.

ooh I think it's pretty safe...except I kept getting a virus out of one of the sites..I forgot which ones..but then it's all up to you whether you feel okay downloading it...if you do download anything..just make sure you have an antivirus installed on your computer because you never know what you will find... h34r:
