For GEEKS and ICQ'ers.
I came from the generation of ICQ'ers. It was developed by a Jewish group of programmers who's talent was sold to AOL and since went down hill. Damn corporate peeps.
I loved the future of live chat conversations where you were able to type in real time. You saw the other person erase and type as you typed. It was a true live conversation by text.
Since AOL took over, that feature got removed and most of the youth today don't even know how cool that feature was.
Then AIM took over for a while and people forgot about ICQ. MSN showed up and those who were lazy to dl the IM programs made it hit the charts. Yahoo came in later and well... and since then we've had so many IM progs that I think GOOGLETALK never made it to people's desktop.
I don't even have to mention TRILLIAN, Jabbers, etc. that tried to consolidate the programs.
And some of you guys ask me about SKYPE. Geez, these myspace sites and IM programs are soo numerous.
Its nice to see that Yahoo and MSN have made some compatibility compromises.
But what I missed was those real time chats that ICQ had in the early stages. I gave up on them after they left ICQ 1999 or 2001 without the real conversation as that was the only thing that made them stand out amongst the other IM'ers.
Now there is a ICQ 6 PREVIEW and they have people testing it. It is supposed to return to the basics. If any of you know anything about it, please PM me or post here.
I have two questions.... one is if anyone here knows anyone who is beta testing it. If the answer yes, my second question is... does it have this realtime chat feature.
Thanks for reading and sharing your input if you have any in regards to this.
