Harit rushes to the cabinet. Carefully puts the key inside the keyhole, it fits. He slowly turns it, click, it opens. His heart starts pounding. don't be afraid, there's nothing scary in here, it's only father's cabinet. he looks in, and BAM! nothing. no gun, no drugs, no hidden money, nothing except some letters. he started to relax and at first, harit was going to blow it off, but he had an urge to read the letters. sitting there on the floor of his father's office, deciding which one to read first. he then picked up the one on the top of the stack, he began to read it to himself:
August 4, 1983
Dear My Sweet Mam:
Do you still remember who I am? It is I, once your lover, Tom. Are you happy now? I still think of you day and night. Your lovely smiles, gentle kisses, those dark seductive eyes, and the smell of peaches that reminds me of our summer days on the country farm. God, every day is like turtore without you. I miss you like crazy.
And I want to tell you that I still LOVE you, and only you until the day I die, you will be the only lady in my heart. My father was horrible to split us apart and forcing me to marry Pim. I don't love her, I never will, even though she is carrying my child now, it still makes no difference. No matter how long it takes, I will wait for you. I will give up everything for you, my riches, my estates, my family, and even my life.
I do not care if you married my best friend and having his child. We can help raise your child as our own. If you can find it in your heart to forgive me and take me back, you will make me the happiest man alive. Nothing in this world means more to me than YOU. Just to see you once more would mean the world to me, I even moved to Malaysia just to be near you.
Love Always and Forever Yours,
Tom.
Harit heart sank. His father never loved him nor his mother. He drops the letter to the ground. A bit of sadness ran through him, but it quickly turned to rage and anger. All his life spent pleasing his father, no more, whoever this Mam is and her family will surely pay, pay for all those years he spent never having his father's love nor his respect, pay for the lies and the endless torture of how Harit feels, pay for everything! Many things started running through in Harit's mind, where to begin, and suddenly click, he must find out where they live, and start from there. Yes, he will not let them go even if it's the last thing he does.
A smile crawled onto Harit's face, he then began laughing madly. Harit picks himself off from the ground, and grabbed the letters. He closed the cabinet door, but took the letters with him to his room, he wanted to learn of his father's past.
