BARUN SOBTI
Model turned actor Barun Sobti started his acting career with the serial Shraddha on Star Plus but it is the just concluded serial Iss Pyaar Ko Kya Naam Doon? that made him a household name. Playing the role of a business tycoon Arnav Singh Raizada, this Delhi boy has stolen many hearts with his good looks and soft demeanour. Even though he quit the show, his fans refused to accept another star instead of him and the serial had to be discontinued.
What makes them hot?
A majority of Barun's female fans swear by his chiselled features and are happy to call him 'the most dashing guy on TV'. A lot of them feel happy with the fact that he keeps a stubble as that makes him look sexy.
What their fans say - good and bad, what do they get blasted for?
Ask Barun about the kind of feedback he gets from his fans and he tells you sheepishly that he is quite disconnected as far as social media is concerned. "I believe that everyone has a right to have an opinion about things or people and fortunately I have been lucky to have heard usually good things about myself. However, I must admit that people can be quite critical about your role also," says the actor who is as soft spoken in real life as his character is.
The kind of role they would love to see themselves in?
Although Barun's no-nonsense business tycoon character Arnav Raizada was loved by everyone, we asked him whether there is any particular type of role he would love to see himself in. "I'm an actor and it is not for me but for the writer to offer the best role to me. For me essaying that role to the best of my ability is more important. I have played both serious as well as lighter characters also and have been satisfied with both types," says Barun.
Three things to do for looking hot?
The minute we ask Barun to tell us about three things he does to look hot, he just says one word - Nothing! "Whether you believe it or not, but I have been blessed with a good genes and that's why irrespective of how much I eat, I still retain my lean look. On top of that, I have hardly worked out in the last one year that I have been shooting for Iss Pyaar Ko… and also don't follow any particular diet. The only thing I do is t walk a lot. I am always walking, even on the sets when we are not shooting, I can hardly sit still and used to play a lot of sports," explains Barun adding that for some odd reason he is both restless as well as patient at the same time.
As far as grooming is concerned, Barun says that when he entered the industry, he was advised by everyone to look a certain way. But, he has never paid any attention towards creating a look for himself. "I never wear makeup or believe in using various products on my skin. The only thing I make sure to do is to keep my face sweat free after every shoot and, yes, I do believe in smelling good. That's very important for me. Though in the serial I am always seen in very formal clothes, but my real style is veey casual. I am most comfortable in them," reveals Barun.
What makes his role interesting?
The fact that Arnav, the character, doesn't talk much and is not too keen to show his emotions works best for me. A restrained romantic is what I would like to call myself in the serial. Moreover, the fact that the role has been written so well makes it so interesting for me.
Previous serials
Shraddha, Baat Hamari Pakki Hai, Dil Mill Gaye
New offers
Have already shot for my first film, Main Aur Mr Right with Shehnaz Treasurywalla.
Favourite co-star
No favourite in particular, I have enjoyed working with everyone.
One way in which you think you can improve.
That can happen only when I take time off from the regime of non-stop shoots and that's the reason why I decided to quit Iss Pyaar Ko...
Who are the other guys that they think are hot?
Both Karan Wahi and Karan Singh Grover are hot.
Do you have any fear or regret about the fact that they are completely recognized by the character they are playing?
No, it's the character only that has made me famous. No regrets.
