Nothing Can Tear Us Apart :: Cee/Kwan/Pinky/Win

Scene 4: Just In Time

Usamaneee rushed up to her father’s office, knocking the door furiously. Sweat was running down her forehead and onto her blouse. Why hasn’t he asnwered? Without thinking, Usamanee pushed the latch down and swung the door open. Mr. Taechapanit sat on his head chair. There were interns, doctors, accountants, and sponsers surrounding him. Embarassed by her own mistake of barging in, Usamanee quietly crept to her father and his secretary.

“Dad, Pinky got stung by a wasp... Usamanee informed, her eyes glancing up and down the U shaped table. Mr. Taechapanit dropped his coffee and turned, switching all of his attention to the girl in front of him.

“What? How did this happen, Kwan? Mr. Taechapanit asked, confused. All he remembered was that he had ordered the gardeners to spray the vast garden since Monday. And, today was Friday. How can some wasp be left to sting his beloved daughter? “Where is Pinky now, Kwan?

“She’s in the Emergency Room, with some of the emergency doctors. Usamanee answered, tugging on her father’s suit. She whispered in his ear, “Please come see her; Pinky was crying when I left her…I’m not sure if I can comfort her that well. You know how Pinky is, Dad. She’s not going to calm down unless you’re therer beside her. Mr. Taechapanit turned himself to face the employees.

“We’re going to stop the meeting for now. When I come back, we’ll continue. He told them, pulled away by Usamanee. Both father and daughter when down the elevator, as fast as they could. As for Savika, she was just in time; when they arrived, she was in bed and crying…it was not actually a stunt, since one of the doctors told her that they needed to get another shot in her. And, they didn’t let her EAT!!!

“Hello, Daddy. Savika greeted, sobbing a bit at the same time.

“What’s wrong, Pinky? Come on, that’s not my big girl! Mr. Taechapanit insisted, knowing that his “soothing words would get Savika to stop crying.

“I got stung…by a mean wasp!!! Savika told her father, unable to see the reason he was still asking. Afterall, didn’t Usamanee tell him already? Savika turned to Usamanee. “Thanks na ka, P’Kwan. You’re the best!

“Yes, I know I am. Pinky, you’re my only sister. Of course I wouldn’t let ANYONE do anything to you! Usamanee assured. Pinky, I’ll always be with you…no matter what. Savika smiled.

“Thanks for comforting me all the way, too. I really appreciate it. Savika thanked, eyeing the hot dog she had gotten from 7-Eleven.

“Hungry? Mr. Taechapanit asked. Savika nodded. Usamanee got around the "patient bed" and over to the counter where the hot dog was placed. She walked back to Savika, and handed her little sister the prized hot dog. Savika thanked Usamanee and started gobbling away. Speaking between mouthfuls, Savika told her father to go back to his meeting. He nodded, and kissed both Savika and Usamanee goodbyes. They waved as he went to the elevator.

“Feeling better? Usamanee asked.

“Yep. I want to go home now… Savika replied, using her puppydog eyes.

“The emergency doctor told me that he’s preparing another shot. We’ll go home after that. Usamanee told her little sister, who pouted.

“I don’t want another shot! Savika wailed, burying her face in Usamanee’s blouse.

“Do this first, and when we go home you can tell me ALL about him. Usamanee said. Savika looked around.

“How did you… Savika trailed.

“Know? Usamanee asked. Savika nodded. “Pinky, jeez little sister. One of the assistants told me all about your encounter…

“Oh… Savika replied, slouching.

“C’mon! Brighten up! Usamanee half begged, half instructed. Savika smiled.

Ok, P’Kwan! Savika agreed, smiling. What was his name again? Tawin? Win?

Haha guys I'll stick to the girls for this one again...nothing really going on with Siwat OR Tawin.

Scene 5: At Work...Holiday?

Savika trailed right behind her elder sister. As Usamanee walked down this and into that, Savika always there. Even though Savika's arm was still throbbing, she knew she had to follow her sister. Usamanee looked sad again, and three guesses why: Siwat. Savika didn't really know how to comfort her sister, for it had always been Usamanee there for HER...so, in this case, Savika was better off keeping her big mouth shut. Usamanee made another right turn and was infront of the modeling agency she was part-timing for. It was only 2 blocks away from her father's hospital, so he agreed to let her do it...at least it would keep her mind off of things. This was going to be one stop and they were both going back to Maisak and the car. As for Savika, she had never came here before; this was the first time Usamanee let her little sister close to her while on duty. And, Savika was grateful.

"P'Kwan, why do you work for a modeling agency?" Savika asked, curious. Daddy had enough money for both of them to live in the life of luxury, so why work?

"Pinky, we might be rich AND hisos but we must work. Knowledge can never run out, but money can..." Usamanee replied simply, repeating the words Siwat had told her when she had asked that question 3 years ago. Thinking back to that lead a tear into Usamanee's brown eyes. She simply reached up and wiped it with her manicured finger.

"But still! A model? That's just obsurd. Why don't you become an actress? I bet you'll get much more money..." Savika suggested, knowing that her sister would say no anyhow. Savika didn't understand why Usamanee liked modeling too much. To be honest, Usamanee wasn't very good at it...

"Pinky...do you NOT want me be to bring you next time?"

"Course not, P'Kwan...sorry." Savika replied, scared.

"Aww Pinky, I didn't mean to! You are just too spoiled, aren't you?" Usamanee asked, knowing the answer to that question by heart. Savika shrugged.

"I donno, it's been like this since...I don't know when, actually." Savika answered as she and Usamanee rounded the corner. Usamanee nodded.

"This is the place, Pinky. Come in, and be quiet. No buts!"

"P'Kwan! You want a girl like ME to be quiet?"

"Yes, Pinky. I do. Please be quiet. This is not Daddy's hospital where you can do anything you please." Usamanee scolded, knowing what will happen next. Just as suspected, Savika started to walk to the nearest sofa, her hands and legs both crossed. She stared off into the distance, not having eye contact with anybody, especially her elder sister. Usamanee sighed and looked to the information counter.

"Hello, my name is Amika. What can I do for you?" The old lady asked, tipping her glasses down.

"P'Amika, it's me....Usamanee Taechapanit!" Usamanee replied, hoping the lady remembered her.

"Oh, Kwan. Sorry...I didn't recognize you there!" Amika replied, smiling. "Mrs. Wilawan is in her office. Go, she is waiting."

"Thanks, P'Amika." Usamanee replied, walking east towards Mrs. Wilawan's office. Reading the labels, she found one with the name she was looking for. Usamanee knocked on the elmwood door. "Mrs. Wilawan, it's me...Kwan."

"Come in, Kwan." Mrs. Wilawan replied. Usamanee came in, and sat on the sofa opposite of the lady. Usamanee's eyes darted.

"You wanted to see me-" Usamanee started, but the she was cut off.

"Yes, I did."

"What for, Mrs. Wilawan? Did I do something that displeases you?"

"Course not, Kwan. You're one of the best models we have!" Mrs. Wilawan praised, smiling. Usamanee could feel her cheeks burning.

"So you wanted to see me because..."

"Oh, I have an offer."

"Offer?" Usamanee asked, unsure of what to think.

"Yes, an offer. We got contacted to do a magazine photoshoot for Honeymoon + Travel. And, they said they wanted a new face. But the thing is, their theme is sisters... I heard you have a sister?" Mrs. Wilawan informed, asking at the same time. Usamanee figited.

"Umm, yes...her name is Pinky. Savika Taechapanit, to be exact. She's 4 years younger than me. But I don't think she likes modeling much." Just at that moment, there was a knock on the door and in came Savika. "Pinky?"

"Yep, I've agreed when the lady over there asked me. She said we'd have time for R&R too, y'know. I thought YOU could use some relaxation."

"Pinky, yes, but-"

"P'Kwan, listen to me. I don't want you to work to forget about everything, ok? I don't like workaholics."

"But you're going to work..."

"Yep!" Savika smiled. "For the best sister anyone could ask for!"

"Are you sure you want to do this, Pinky?"

"Sure! C'mon, they said it would be on some island near Phuket."

"Phuket!?!" Usamanee strained, trying to keep focused. Siwat...

"Oops, my bad." Savika told herself loudly. There goes her big fat mouth...AGAIN. "C'mon, P'Kwan! It's been 3 years since...oops."

"It's ok, Pinky. But I'm not going..." Savika's eyes were wide.

"You're NOT going? I'm going to tell Daddy!"

"Savika, NO." Oh oh... Whenever Savika got called by her real name, ohh her sister was mad...

Scene 6: Daddy, Please?

Savika and Usamanee sat in silence all the way back home. There were no discussions of Win or any sign that the sisters would ever talk to each other ever again. It seemed as if Savika was mad, and that Usamanee was annoyed. Usamanee didn't get why Savika acted like this; whenever she didn't get her way, the drama follows. Savika, on the other hand, didn't understand why her sister was being so negative. What if they met Cee? Or like got real famous? Savika knew that none of these seemed like the right set of ideas for Usamanee. Usamanee liked living with the truth, even though she herself knew it hurted - a lot. Worried about the girls' subtle behavior, Maisak phoned Mr. Taechapanit and told him everything. Mr. Taechapanit had told Maisak that he would be on his way home as soon as possible.

When Mr. Taechapanit arrived on the scene, Usamanee was in her room, and Savika was in the garden, dictating. As soon as Savika saw a glimpse of her father, she ran to him, forcing those tears to run down her face like she always does.

"What's wrong, Pinky?" Mr. Taechapanit asked, eyeing Savika carefully.

"It's P'Kwan, Daddy! Her modeling agency had an offer for her to go to Phuket with me and she turned it down!" Savika replied, sniffing for the special effect on her father.

"Phuket? You know Kwan doesn't like it there anymore, didn't you Pinky?" Mr. Taechapanit asked his daughter, thinking back.

"Yes, but-"

"No buts, Pinky. Trust in your sister...I don't think she'll do anything displeasing. She always knows what to do..."

"Why are you on HER side?" Savika asked, crying rivers.

"I'm not, Pinky. But you need to understand her, ok?"

"Daddy, I do understand her! But I wanna go!"

"Pinky, listen: I need you two girls to understand each other. Call Kwan for me, will you?"

"Ok..." Savika replied, walking up the stairs. She pouted, but followed her father's command. Savika knocked on the door. "P'Kwan, Daddy wants to talk to you." Usamanee opened the door.

"What did you say to him now, Pinky?"

"The truth..."

"I've been thinking, and ok, I'll go. I guess I do need some relaxation..." Usamanee replied. She couldn't stand seeing her sister so miserable. Besides, it wasn't such a bad idea anyway. Savika's eyes were wide.

"REALLY, P'Kwan? You're da best. Lemme go tell Daddy!" Savika replied, grinning from ear to ear, literally. Even though Usamanee didn't know what she would face on this trip, she knew that she would have a great time. She missed the old Savika too, and this was just the thing to bring her little sister out of all of it. What if she found Siwat? No, that was impossible. Siwat was dead, Usamanee reminded herself. But in her heart, there was this glimmer of hope.
