‘Ong Bak 2′ promo premieres at Cannes
News | by Mark Pollard | 2008.05.15

A new promo trailer for Tony Jaa’s ONG BAK 2 was unveiled yesterday at Cannes. Reporting for Twitch, Todd Brown was on hand to see it and had nothing but good things to say about the action-heavy scenes.

“Production values are fantastic, both in terms of set design and cinematography, and Jaa has obviously been paying attention when it comes to where the camera needs to be to shoot action, said Brown. “Heck, I’ll go as far as to say that the footage from this looks better by far than the latest efforts from original ONG BAK director Prachya Pinkaew.

“The martial arts, which are surprisingly bloody and feature a HUGE range of styles. If TOM YUM GOONG was all about Jaa preaching the value of Thai culture - which it was - then this one is all about Jaa beating the crap out of all comers and proving that he can take you down in any style there is and not just Muay Thai. The weapons work - there are spears, poles, a three part staff, ball and chain, and swords in the promo - is particularly good.

This is good news for anyone who may have been concerned about the quality of Jaa’s subsequent work since parting ways with Pinkaew.

For those who cannot wait to see quality footage of ONG BAK 2, an early promo (see below) was leaked online back in February. The video quality is poor but viewers will be able to spot a long-haired Jaa performing some action in the period setting that the film takes place in.

I'm excited! I just don't really like the time period! Not sure when it's set in, and his hair is pretty long.

This movie was awesome!

I love Tony Jaa's acting and his wide knowledge of other martial arts style that he puts into Ong Bak 2.

I simply cannot wait for Ong Bak 3, now that I know both of my favorite two Thai stars are going to fight against each other again. -_-
