I think you can lose weight with it if you eat it as a meal replacement, then again, you can do that with any healthy cereal. It's just about cutting the calorie intake.

i'm late for this discussion, but i want to point out that Pae most likely didn't intend to offend anyone. the translator/interpreter totally misinterpreted Pae's comments. i've read the original interview in Thai, and i understand that Pae was just trying to say that he is so in love with his girlfriend that no other girl, no matter what nationality she is, could ever tempt him to cheat on his girlfriend. if the film was being made in, let's say, France, i bet Pae would say the same thing, that he prefers Thai women over French women. i've read many interviews by other Thai actors/actresses who state that they think Thai women or Thai men are more beautiful/handsome than so-and-so. it's just something we say to comfort or give credit to each other. we also say it to show our love and pride for the fellow Thais. for example, currently, the Korean fever has hit Thailand and many other parts of Asia. so a lot of people admire Korean idols. when reporters ask celebrities about their preferences in men or women, they would often say, "Thai men/women are more charming or beautiful," because they don't want to sound like they favor other nationalities over their fellow Thai people. that is all. they don't ever say "Thai people are more beautiful, and so-and-so are ugly/undesirable."
some people who got offended stated that they would kill Pae if he entered Laos? that's ridiculous. i know it's not a credible threat, but it's not a smart thing to say either. and saying that his girlfriend is not even pretty doesn't really prove Pae's comment invalid. i would say he did not wisely answer the reporter's question, but i wouldn't say his girlfriend or Pae himself isn't attractive.

in my first post, i quoted the person who said that Siam was part of Laos before the French colonized Laos. the history books i read back in elementary school are not available online. -_-" i was in elementary school when Internet didn't exist yet or if it did, it wasn't popular yet. and i'm certain that most Thai people read history books that say that Laos was part of Siam before the Western colonization. i read that Siam ceded Laos to France during the Franco-Siamese War of 1893. i know that truths and lies are often written on the same page in history books, depending on the country of writers/publishers. from what i've read and learned in school and from my parents, Laos was part of Siam before France colonized the region. i just stated what i learned. i knew some people would disagree because history books from different countries are never the same. accounts of events that happened changed slightly or extremely, depending on the writers/scholars of each country.

Less than 100 years later, all three had fallen to the Siamese" before the French colonized the region in the late 19th century.
so back to the original topic, i still believe that Pae did not want to insult anyone. he simply tried to say that he would not cheat on his girlfriend no matter what.

Since now there is an internet and there is plenty of information to check what's facts and what's fiction and doesn't not written only by Thai scholars the history of Indo-chinese, it would be wise to look up true information written by other authors beside Lao or Thai authors. YT have plenty of information about it also, but it's just touch the surface of things.
Many years ago, a Thai scholar was jailed, because he was trying to rewrite or disputed the Thai history about Siam being part of Laos, and he also found prove the adaptation of the Thai language, etc; but the story was hushed, hushed, up real quick. If you haven't heard about that incident, should look it up. But then again, you have believed and learned about your version of Thai history since elementary school, it'll be hard to change your mind set or the way you believe what is the true history of the Siam now.
But still if you have time, it would good to look up and read something else beside Thai.As for Pae, no one know what he really meant or what he was trying to say but himself. He might or might not meant what he said, but his replied to the reporter only show his ignorant and prejudice thinking toward others.
Before you speak, you control your words and how you want to let it out, but once it's out, the words control you and your actions... so let it be lesson to him and anyone to think carefully before opening your mouth. It will come back and bite you in the butt as it did his now.
Note: "you" not meaning you ok pichayaaznbabe, so don't take that I'm saying you LOL. ^_^
Anyway I'm going to back to cereal talk with the girls :loool: I like the granola(sp?) cereal with either milk or orange juice. Sometime I just eat it plain, picks piece by piece as snack. ^_^

Well that poster was incorrect too. The whole Siam was not part of Laos... but some of the Esan plateau was part of Laos. It was just divided by the Mekong river, but there was so many problem with both Laos and Thai fighting for boundary and lands etc. so to stop the problem, the French just said to divided the boundary using the Mekong river as the border it would be easier to control or guard the border.
The land and country was controlled and changed hands so often, Siam was once part of Laos, and some part of Laos was also part of Siam, with each rulers or kingdom depend on which era you're referring the history to, so it would be difficult to argue which country belonged to which country. But at the moment, Laos is on the side of the Mekong River and Siam or Thailand is on another side... so there is no point of fighting which part is Laos or which is Thai. The only true fact is that some peoples of the Esan region has a close ties with the Lao because their ancestors is that of Lao, so they are Lao ethnicity and Thai by the country they live in. Whether they accepted that fact or not is their choice.
I haven't check out the link you posted... so I can not say... plus I'm not an historian to make any judgement on any of these info. It's just that I like to learn about it and make sure it's not being bias toward one or another without putting all facts together first. Hate to read bias posts, whether is being Lao claimed or Thai claimed. ^_^

It really would have worked out if he said that he just preferred Thai girls over Lao girls. But in this case, he used the 'more beautiful'... he didn't say anything about Lao girls being ugly... it was whoever overlooked the statement and assumed Lao girls are ugly. But still, it wasn't a very smart move of him to say that one nation of people is prettier than another nation of people, just base on the few girls he seen that were Lao. Or he could even have said, both Thai and Lao are full of beautiful women, but he prefer Thai girls. But hey he made himself look like a shallow person after that comparison of Thai and Lao girls. Koy should just dump him... lol so any Thai girls can make him lose feeling for her. AHAHAHAHAHA!!!

'Ai Lao' race was way before the Lan Xang Kingdom. Google it and read about the 'Ai Lao' or 'Lao' race from China. Maybe you will learn more about where or how Muang Lao and Siam/Thailand came about.

thanks for the info, fun4fun and KEdoubleNY. i know that many countries in modern days used to be a part of Pangaea (i appreciate ur sense of humor, fun4fun), and people of different ethnic groups used to belong together. but again, i quoted that person who said that Siam was part of Laos before the French colonized Laos. as Maya_Fantasy stated, that claim made by khamporchai was inaccurate. i don't know why no one was eager to correct that claim at all, but when i tried to correct it, i got history lessons. :huh: i did not say that Laos had always forever been part of Siam. i just wanted to point out that khamporchai's post was incorrect, and that Siam was not part of Laos before Western colonization. it was the other way around.
thanks for the suggestions, Maya_Fantasy. i know very well that i could look up information and read history books by non-Thai and non-Laotian authors now that the Internet is widely popular. but i was responding to ur post that requested links to the history books i first gained my information from, so i had to let u know that i had studied Thai history since elementary school; therefore, i could not post links of those old elementary school books because they're not available online. plus, they were of course written in Thai, not English. i could and i did study history taught by a non-Thai and non-Laotian professor, Professor Geoffrey Robinson (u can Google him), a professor at UCLA. i made a wise choice to take his course of Southeast Asia Since 1815 this past winter, and it's a well-known fact that Siam was not part of Laos before the Western colonization, but it was the other way around. i think "Southeast Asia" by Keat Gin Ooi and "Thailand: Buddhist Kingdom as Modern Nation-State" by Charles Keyes are credible sources.

Keat Gin Ooi wrote that the kingdom of Laos on the left bank of the Mekong and Cambodia were considered Siam's vassal states. in March 1893 France laid claims to the whole of the east bank of the Mekong. in April 1893, French troops were sent to take control of Laos. Siamese troops in Laos resisted the attempt which led to the death of a French officer. as a result of the Pak Nam incident, the whole kingdom of Laos was ceded to France.

Do they have to be Thai or non-Thai?"). if the celebrities say they prefer or think people from a foreign country are more attractive than Thais, they'd get criticized almost the same way Pae is being criticized right now. they would be branded with "u don't have love/pride for your fellow Thais." regular people can say whatever they want (for example, http://www.yelp.com/topic/fullerton-asian-girls), and not get bashed so severely. i personally think that Thai actors and actresses are more attractive than Korean actors and actresses because i prefer big eyes (i.e. P'Tik, Chakrit, P'Bird Tongchai, P'Nok Chatchai, Aff, Joy Siriluck, Janie, Taew, etc.) while other people prefer light skin complexion that Korean people have. but i don't get bashed by a large group of people because i'm not famous. i wouldn't threaten to kill or call anyone ugly or unattractive (because that's just a personal attack, not an actual attack on their ignorance, bias or prejudice) if they say their own people are more attractive than mine. i would just think that they're missing out. plus, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. what's attractive to me might be unattractive to other people. if people in Laos or people of Laotion descent abroad feel very strongly about banning Pae and his movie, they should go ahead and make that known. i support their decision to send letters to the Laotian officials. protest near the movie set. send letters to the magazine/newspaper that published Pae's interview. ban everything and anything Pae is a part of. that might affect Pae's financial status as an actor, the movie studios' income, etc. and it might send him a message and let him know that he must be more careful with his words in the future because he's a famous actor, not a regular Joe.
