Chapter 15: amusement park (part 2)
AA, ran to catch up with the rest of the group & ask “so, what ride are we going on, first?” beam, look over at donut, & said “since were celebrating donut’s birthday she should pick.” donut, look around wondering what would be the best ride to go on, first. She caught sight of a swinging boat, pointed & said excitedly, “I want to go on that.” Dan’s eyes grew wide as he look over in the direction where she point & ask hesitantly, “o…on that?” donut, nodded happily as she made her way over to the ride. The rest of the group follow close behind her & AA said teasingly, to Dan, “she sure, knows how to pick them. Out of the entire ride here she wants to go on the Viking.” Speechless, Dan simply shook his head & wonder if he would lose his breakfast after riding that thing. Joining her in line the three guys, look up at the ride & watch as it swung back & forth like a pendulum. Dan, felt like the lump in his throat was growing as he heard the mix scream of excitement & fear being emitted from the ride. As they got near the front of the line donut, jump up & down excitedly, & said “this is going to be so, much fun.” beam, smile to see her happy disposition & didn’t even care that they weren’t alone. AA, said quietly, to Dan, as they advance forward “there’s still time for you to back out. Just say you have to go the bathroom. Try riding one of the tamer rides, later.” Dan, shot a warning glare at his friend & reply “tamer ride? If donut, can go on this thing I can’t see why I wouldn’t be able to.” aa, said logically, “she can ride this because, she doesn’t have motion sickness, you idiot. That pride of yours is going to keep getting you into trouble.” Dan, didn’t respond, folded his arm & reassure himself that everything would be, fine. When it was their turn to board the ride the four file in one after the other & sat down. Donut, look to her left & saw that beam, was smiling as he fastens his restraint buckle. She then turns her attention to her right & saw that Dan was doing the same. She notices that Dan’s face look starkly pale as he furrows his brow. she look over to aa, & saw that he was pointing at Dan, as he mouth the word ‘he has motion sickness’. Shock by AA’s revelation donut, quickly unfasten her restraint & yell out to the ride’s operator to let her off. Both, Dan & beam were shock by her sudden outburst but follow her as she exits the ride. Standing at the rides exit beam, ask “what’s the matter?” not wanting to embarrass Dan, donut respond “I don’t know. I was excited to go but then got really, scare when I was on the ride.” AA, smile at her knowing that she had just lie. not wanting to answer any more question about what had occur donut, ask if one of the guys, would accompany her to buy some drink to calm down. Before Dan, or beam, could offer to come along AA, had taken her by the arm to drag her away. As he pulls her away he calls back to the befuddled boy, “I’ll take her! wait for us, ok!” when they were out of earshot from both, Dan & beam, aa stop dead in his track, turn to her & ask “so, when did you start liking him?” taken aback by the question donut’s eyes widen as she stuttered “l…like who?” aa, flash a devilish grin & clarify “I ask, when did you start to like, worrawech Dan danuwong?” blushing from his forward question donut, declare “I don’t like him.” aa, point to her cheek & ask “so, why’re you blushing?” she look to her left & then back to her right before saying “I’m not blushing. It’s cold so, my cheek must be red from the cold.” aa, said teasingly, “didn’t we read a line in a Shakespeare play that went something like, me thinks the lady, do to protest too, much.” unwilling to continue the conversation donut, walk away leaving aa, by himself. AA, pick up his pace & caught up to her as she stood in line to purchase drinks. Seeing that she was very uncomfortable AA, said “I was just kidding. I know, you don’t like him.” donut, look at AA, wearily & didn’t respond. AA, continue “that was nice of you to spare him the embarrassment. that idiot would have been sick for a week, if he rode that ride.” donut, reply “if he has motion sickness why would he want to come to an amusement park?” aa, listen to her question & wonder to himself whether, donut was too, dense to realize the answer to her question or whether, she was just too, innocent to think that Dan, could have fallen for her. seeing that aa, wasn’t answering her question she continue “I guess, it’s just because, he doesn’t like being left out of anything.” aa, smile & said “yeah, that’s probably, it.” donut & aa, saw that Dan & beam, had found a vacant table underneath a tree & made their way over to the pair. Donut, sat down across from Dan, handed him a bottle of water before handing beam, his bottle of apple juice. AA, sat down beside donut, & gave her the cup of hot chocolate. As he drank beam, ask donut, if she would like to go with him on the ferries wheel. She looks at him, smile & said that she would like to do, so. Without another word beam, grab her hand & escorted her towards the ride. Dan sat incredulously, as he watches them disappear into the distance. aa, look at Dan’s expression & thought to himself ‘even if I’m willing to back off beam, surely isn’t going to.’ beam, was very happy to finally, be alone with donut, & took the opportunity, to ask her a question that he had want to ask since he found out about her living situation. Sitting in the cart of the ferries wheel he ask her “donut, do you like living with the Danuwong, family?” donut, reply “yes, I like it there very much. Everyone is very nice to me.” undeterred by her response beam, continue “I told my parents about meeting you at school the other day, & also, told them about where you were living. They suggest that I ask if you would like to come & live with us.” donut, was surprise by beam’s statement & said “they really, said that?” beam, nodded his head to confirm that they had. Donut, sat quietly, feeling conflict as she thought about beam’s parents. Donut, remember that beam’s parent had treated her more like a daughter, than her own parent had. She was grateful for everything that they had done for her in the past but felt that she wouldn’t be comfortable imposing on them. In a very formal tone she replies “I don’t think I can do that. Dan’s grandparent is my legal guardian now, & I have become very attached to the family. Could you tell your parent that I’m very grateful for the offer but must decline?” although, beam felt a tinge of pain upon hearing her response he knew that she was too, modest a person to accept the offer. Seeing his expression donut, said “I’m sorry, p’beam.” beam, look over at her apologetic expression & said “don’t be sorry, it was just a suggestion.” seeing that beam, was now, smiling donut, relax & enjoy the remainder of the ride. Donut & beam, made their way back to Dan & AA, once the ride had concluded & saw that the guy, had bought some food. Donut, smile widely, upon seeing her favorite snack sprawl out on the table. She sat down & grab for the bag of rainbow color cotton candy. She was surprise when Dan, tug the bag back towards himself taking it from her hand. She watches him open the bag, seize handful of cotton candy & shove the content into his mouth. She exclaim loudly, “hey, that’s mine!” Dan, flash a lopsided smile & reply “oh, really? I didn’t see you buy it.” unable to resist since the cotton candy look so, delicious donut, made a grab for the bag & begin to eat it as she ran away. Dan, bolted up & ran after her determine to get back his food. beam, stood up to follow the two but found that he was being held back by aa, who said “just let them go they’re always like that.” by the time, Dan had caught up to donut, she had already finish the rest of the cotton candy. She smile & handed him the empty bag & said “here, you can have it back.” he stare at her in amazement & said “you’re so, dirty. How can you eat food that I put my hand all over?” seeing his expression she laugh & said “your the clean freak. I don’t care if you touch it. Who told you not to share?” Dan was left speechless, at her response & shook his head. Donut, look around & saw that they were standing near the skyline shuttle & ask Dan, “Since we’re here can we go on that?” Dan, look up at the shuttle & back at her face. He could see that she really, want to go on the ride & decided that it wouldn’t hurt to accompany her. He nodded his head to consent to her request & motion for her to follow him. Boarding the shuttle capsule donut, thought to herself that since the ride move slowly, down the wire it probably wouldn’t cause Dan, much discomfort. Sitting in silence the pair peer out the window & watch the sight of the amusement park pass by as the capsule made its way down the wire. Seeing that they were alone donut, thought it would be a good time to thank, him for the kindness he had shown her earlier, that morning. She look over to him & said “p’Dan.” hearing himself being call he turn to face her & ask “what is it?” she reply “I want to thank you, for Dan jr. both, he & you’re a great comfort to me.” Dan didn’t know how to respond to her & only manage to say “don’t mention it. It was, nothing.” ignoring his dismissive tone donut, continue “it was something. It was the nicest thing anyone has done for me in a very long time.” hearing her heartfelt statement Dan, finally reply gruffly, but with a smile on his face “get use to it. We danuwong will continue to be nice to you from here on out.” she smile warmly, at him before saying “I know, & I’ll do my best to forget everything in the past & only be happy, from now on.” he reply quickly, “good.” for the remainder of the day, the four walk around the amusement park, play game, ate & had a fantastic time. They drop AA & beam, off at their respective home & headed back to the Danuwong, house. Exhausted from the eventful day, donut begins to nod off. Seeing her head tilt to the side Dan, move closer to her & position her head so, that it was resting on his shoulder. He thought to himself as he looks at her peaceful expression ‘you should always rest this peacefully.'

Chapter 16: realization
Exhausted from the eventful day, he had spent at the amusement park Dan, slept soundly, throughout the night. He was awakening the next morning, by the sound of his alarm clock & wonder why it was going off on a Sunday, morning. Annoy, he pull on the alarm, yanking its power cord from the wall socket & threw it onto the floor. He toss & turn trying to get into a more comfortable position & try to go back to sleep. Much to his distress he found that sleep wouldn’t come. He looks over at the wall clock & saw that it was already eleven o’clock. He had slept through yet, another Sunday, breakfast & decided to get up & head downstairs. Upon reaching the lower level of the house he notices that his family was assemble in the sunroom near the porch. He thought to himself how it was strange for them to be sitting in the sunroom when it was raining outside. He rush over to where everyone sat & ask “why is everyone out here?” his grandfather, reply “were just enjoying the nice morning rain.” Dan, sat down beside his grandfather, & wonder what was so, nice about a morning, rain. His eyes scan the room & saw that donut, wasn’t present. He figure that she was still asleep, fatigued from going on so, many rides the day, before. with that thought in mind Dan, ask “is donut, still sleeping?” his grandfather, look at him, smile slyly & reply “no, she’s out in the backyard with, beam.” startled, by his grandfather’s response Dan, sprung up from his seat & ask “she’s where & with who?” his grandfather, didn’t seem to register his strange reaction & simply repeated “she’s in the backyard with, beam.” without saying another word Dan, quickly made his way to the backyard. When he reaches his intend destination he saw that donut, was sitting with beam, underneath the main gazebo. He grew frustrated upon realizing that she was wearing the same navy blue empire-waist a-line with sweetheart neckline, spaghettis strap & hi-lo he. Chiffon; satin dress she had worn on the summer solstice day, when they two had sat beneath that very same gazebo. He ask himself in an agitated tone “what the heck is she doing wearing a that dress when it’s cold out here? Is she crazy?” his agitation quickly, turn into anger when he saw beam, grab donut, & pull her towards his body in a tight embrace. Not able to contain himself, Dan rushes over to the pair & demanded “what’re you two doing?!” he was shock when the two didn’t break apart even though, he stood before them. Beam, only look at him & said “I’m hugging my, girlfriend. What’s it to you?” Dan was speechless, upon hearing beam’s response but couldn’t believe what he heard. Upset that she wasn’t clarifying the issue Dan reaches out & pull donut, away from beam’s grasp & ask her pointedly, “you’re his what?” Dan, watch as she stood still not responding to his inquiry. Her non-response cause him to become even angrier & the next thing he knew he had blurted out “how can he be your boyfriend, when I’m the one who likes you so, much?” astonished by his own confession he let go of her arm & step back. Seeing that donut, was beginning to open her mouth to respond Dan, was suddenly, startled by the abruptness of his contact with the ground. He looks around in disbelief & saw that he was in his bedroom still in his pajamas. Thinking back to what he thought he had just witness Dan; begin to ask himself a series of question “it was all a dream. What did I say? Did I really, say I like her? what the heck is going on here?” standing up slowly, from the floor Dan, brush himself off before asking himself “do I like her?” shock by his own realization Dan’s eyes grew wide as he finally, admit to himself “I really, do like her.” bewildered by the emotion he was feeling Dan, resolve to not think about the issue any further, & decided to go downstairs. Upon making this decision he proceed to exit his bedroom just in time to see that donut, was also coming out of her room. He felt like a deer caught in headlight & was only able to stare at her, blankly. She looks at him, smile & ask “did you sleep well, last night?” unable to speak he simply nodded his head & quickly, walks away. When he arrive downstairs Dan, found that he hadn’t miss breakfast & watch as it was being serve. He made his way to the dining room table & sat down beside his, mother. He then begins to shovel food into his mouth, hastily. His mother, looks at him, smile & said “you’re up early today, & you look like you’re starving.” Dan, continue to eat & only nodded his head to acknowledge his mother’s comment. A short while later, donut enter the room & greeted everyone before taking her seat by, Dan. He tense upon feeling her within such close vicinity to himself & try to eat faster hoping to escape the room as soon as possible. donut, notice that Dan, was eating very quickly, not bothering to chew his food very well & said in a concern tone “you should slow down or you’re going to choke.” immediately, after she had finish the warning Dan, suddenly cough as food had actually, gone down the wrong pipe. Seeing her prediction come to fruition donut, quickly stood up & begin to pat him on the back hoping to help him clear the remaining food from his throat. when he manage to control his fit of coughing Dan, stood up & excuse himself from the room in order to go & clean himself up. His parent wonder, why their son, was behaving so, strangely but concluded that it was because, he wasn’t use to eating breakfast so, early on the weekend. Seeing him leave donut, politely excuse herself from the room stating that she want to make sure, he was, ok. The adult watch as she left & comment on how she & Dan were very close just like real relative. Staring at himself in his bathroom mirror he asks his reflection “what am I going to do? I can’t very well avoid her forever, she lives here, after all.” unable to come up with a satisfactory, answer to his own question he wipe the water off of his face, turn off the light & walk out of the bathroom. he was startled to see that she was standing in the doorway of his room & ask “what’re you doing in here?” donut, observe that he had regain most of his color & reply “I came to see if you were, ok.” waving her off he said in the most unaffected tone he could muster “I’m fine. you can leave, now.” she stood still not moving & ask “did I do something wrong?” not providing a response to her question he proceed to ask her “what’re you talking about?” ignoring his instruction to leave donut, walk into his room & came closer to him as she reply “you seem to be angry with me for some reason. did I do something wrong?” seeing the discomfort on her face Dan, soften his tone & said “no, I just don’t quite feel like myself today, & just want to be alone for awhile.” donut, was relieve to hear that she wasn’t the root cause of his issue. Although, he had express a desire to be left alone donut, was still unwilling to leave. Holding up a string & a needle she asks “should I help you with this?” seeing the instrument in her hand Dan, ask “what’s that? Are you trying to sew something in my room?” she laughs & said “no, I want to help you prick your finger so, you won’t have any lingering negative affect from the indigestion.” Dan, was confuse & ask “how’s pricking my finger going to help with indigestion?” donut, shrugged her shoulder & said “this is what the adult in my family did for me when I had indigestion & I always felt better, afterwards. do you want to try?” sensing that she wouldn’t go away until she did what she had set out to accomplish Dan, reluctantly nodded his head in agreement. With that signal she walks over to him, took his hand & led him to the bed. As she held onto his hand he could feel his heartbeat speed up & felt as if his heart would just burst from his chest. Letting go of his hand donut, pointed for him to sit down. Already feeling weak in the knee he sat down obediently, & looks up at her. She sat down beside him & begins to get to work. She warn him to brace himself as she was about to prick his finger. After she had finish she look up at him, smile & said “you have a really, high tolerance for pain you didn’t even seem to notice when I prick your finger.” looking at her smiling face he thought to himself ‘that’s because, I can’t feel anything besides, the pounding of my heart.’

Chapter 17: misunderstanding
Donut, sense that something was weighing heavily on Dan’s mind & wonder if there was anything she could do to help him. she remember, he had mention wanting to be alone & reluctantly, said “if you’re feeling better, I’ll leave, now.” seeing his unresponsiveness she stood up from his bed & started to make her way towards the door. Before she was able to reach the exit she heard Dan, suddenly groan. Upon hearing the sound she spun around & saw a distinct look of discomfort overtake his face. She watches as he then proceed to repeatedly, pat his chest with his right hand. She concluded that he must be experiencing indigestion pain & rush back to his side. In a highly, concern tone donut, ask “are you, ok?” he look up at her with a wounded expression & reply “my chest hurts.” puzzle, donut said “I mustn’t have prick your finger, correctly. I’m so, sorry.” unsure, of what should be done, she begins to rub his back hoping that this would ease his discomfort. Much to her dismay she observe that even rubbing his back wasn’t helping. She tries desperately, to think of other method that could be used to reduce indigestion pain & recall that applying pressure to the chest area was also recommended. Without any hesitation she wraps her arm around his back & pulls him into a tight embrace. She figures that hugging him tightly, was the only other alternative to apply pressure since she knew he wouldn’t allow her to sit on top of his back. While hugging him, she explains that she needed to apply pressure to his chest to relieve him of his indigestion pain. Dan was shock by their sudden closeness & didn’t know what to do next. When he had decided to fake his pain in order to keep her in the room he never imagines that this would be the end, result. Although, this was an unexpected turn of event it most certainly, wasn’t unwelcome. Relishing the moment, Dan smile broadly & thought to himself that it was as though he had found his other half. Noticing that Dan’s body seem to become more relax she concluded that the apply pressure was beginning to help ease his pain. Breaking away from their embrace donut, step back & look at him intently, to observe if he was feeling better. She was glad to see that the discomfort previously, shown on his face had all but disappeared. donut, want to confirm that he was indeed, feeling better & ask “does your chest still hurt?” Dan, shook his head to indicate that it didn’t & said “even if it doesn’t hurt right now, it might start to hurt again, later.” donut, thought that this was possible & said “I think, your right, you can never be too, sure with indigestion pain.” she wonder, if she should go ask butler passin, to see if there was any medicine he could take to prevent this from happening. Her thought were suddenly, interrupt when she heard Dan, ask “can you stay here with me until I feel hundred percent better?” donut, look at him, smile & said “of course, I can stay.” Dan nodded his head & slightly, smile upon hearing her response. Dan, suggest that since she was there that they play a game of ‘go fish’ to pass the time. Donut, smile & nodded happily. He point to his desk & said “the card is in the bottom drawer.” donut, walks over to his desk & retrieve the card. The two sat on his bed & begin to play. As the game progress Dan, thought that he would take this opportunity, to ask her some question about matter of the heart. although, he was very nervous Dan, try his best to sound casual as he ask “donut, since you’re a girl, I want to ask you about something.” donut, didn’t look up from the card she held in her hand & reply “sure, go ahead & ask. I’ll try my best to provide you with good answer.” still trying to remain calm Dan, ask “if guy A likes girl B do you think, he should tell her?” Dan’s question causes donut, to look up from her card & become fluster. she felt a painful sensation creep over her as she realize that he was asking for her advice on whether, he should confess his feeling to another, girl. Although, donut felt uncomfortable, with the topic she replies “if he really, likes her, he should tell her.” Dan contemplated her answer before asking “but what if he doesn’t know whether, she likes him back or not. If she doesn’t like him back then their friendship would be ruin by him confessing to her, right?” donut, could tell that the girl, in question was someone who was very special to, Dan. donut, was surprise that he would go as far as to conceal his feeling for the girl, just to have the chance to be by her side even if it was just as a friend. Part of donut, want to advise Dan, against confessing to the girl, but she finally, decided against doing so, since this would end up hurting him. She reluctantly, replies “it sounds like guy A really, likes girl B & if that’s the case he should take the risk & tell her. if he continue to keep his feeling a secret she’ll never know & by any chance, that they could be together would be gone, right?” Dan, listens to her answer, nod his head & said “I guess, your right, but I think, it’s much easier said than done.” after the question & answer session donut, discover that her level of discomfort continue to increase as she sat with, Dan. Since she didn’t want to be around him any longer she excuses herself by saying that she needs to go to her room to study. Wanting to stay with her a little longer Dan, ask “do you want to study in here with me?” she thought carefully, before saying “no, it’s ok. My notes are on my computer so, I can’t study here.” Dan, furrow his brow & reply “if your notes are on your computer just print them out & come back here & study with me.” having already made up her mind donut, said “you won’t study you’ll just bother me. I won’t get anything done so; I would prefer studying by myself.” Dan was taken aback by her comment & wonder why she was behaving so, strangely. Concern, he asks “are you mad at me?” donut, look over at him & ask “why would I be mad at you?” Dan shrugged his shoulder & reply that he thought she just seems upset. Donut, reassure him that she was neither mad nor upset & repeat that she just want to study by herself. She made her way out of his bedroom & stood in the hall as she thought to herself ‘I’m not mad or upset but for some reason I’m very sad.’

Chapter 18: birthday party (part 1)
sitting alone in her room donut, hug Dan jr. tightly, & ask him “if guy A already likes girl B & you throw into this equation a silly girl C who has fallen for guy A doesn’t that just complicate everything?” she look at Dan jr. & wish that he would tell her how to solve this seemingly, impossible equation. recalling the question that aa, had ask her at the amusement park about when she had started to like Dan, donut admit aloud to Dan jr. “I start to like him the night be gave you to me.” realizing that she would become heartbroken if she continue to leave her feelings for Dan, uncheck donut, decided that avoiding him would be the best possible solution. With that solution in mind over the next couple of day, donut proceeds to limit her interaction with Dan, as much as possible. When they were at school she was careful to gravitate towards beam, or AA, in order to reduce the amount of time, she would have to spend alone with Dan, & when they were at home she waited until he was busy downstairs before entering to clean his room. She was also very careful to finish up before he return. She didn’t know that her action over the past few days had put Dan, into a complete state of turmoil. Since donut, wasn’t a very discreet person Dan, quickly figure out that she was purposely, avoiding him. he wonder, repeatedly to himself whether, she was avoiding him because, she had figure out that he was guy A & that she was girl B. if that was truly, the case then he could only assume that she did no, reciprocate his feelings & became frustrated that he had even mention anything in the first, place. His level of frustration cause the interaction that he did have with her to become very strain. By mid-week, AA had already begun to see that something strange was going on between, Dan & donut. He wants to figure out what was going on & made an attempt to draw out information from Dan, but soon realize that none would be forthcoming. He then turns his effort towards donut, who by all estimation was the easier of the two to break. Under the guise of needing help with their upcoming history, exam AA, ask donut, if she would stay behind after school to help him study. Seizing the opportunity, to miss riding home with Dan, donut quickly, consented to the request & although, Dan had begin to voice his opposition to the pair plan he could say no, more when aa, reassure him that permission had already been granted from his grandfather, to allow donut, to stay behind at school if aa, promise to escort her home when they were done. Reluctantly, Dan left home in the family car by himself. When they were finally, alone AA, begin to get to work on his information search & casually, ask her question which were non-related to their history, lesson. donut, quickly saw that he wasn’t interested in studying for their history, exam & ask him “if you didn’t want to keep me here, to help you study what is it that your trying to do?” aa, smile at her sudden acuteness & reply bluntly, “I notice that something was going on between, you & Dan, so I want to figure out what it was.” donut, became uncomfortable, with the mention of Dan’s name & ask “is it really, that obvious?” aa, nodded his head with an exaggerated motion & answer “yeah, it’s so, obvious that your avoiding him & that he’s getting really, mad about it.” donut, knew that aa’s assertions were correct & she also knew that Dan, had become very upset with her dismissive & avoiding behavior. Since it was clear that AA had already found out her true feelings for Dan, donut was happy to confide in him the real reason behind their strain relationship. she told him about the conversation that she & Dan, had on Sunday, afternoon & said dejectedly, “ever since I found out that Dan, has someone in his heart I’ve felt very uncomfortable, around him so, I’ve been trying to avoid him so, that these feelings can go away.” once, aa had become fully aware of the problem that exist between the two he ask himself ‘how can donut, not know that she’s girl B?’ he wonder, why she hadn’t realize that she was the only girl, that Dan, had ever bother to interact with. Although, AA had become fully aware that this whole situation was a big misunderstanding he knew that it wasn’t his place to resolve it. AA thought that it would be best if Dan, reveal his true feelings for donut, himself. He did however, advice donut, to stop avoiding Dan, since this wasn’t the proper solution to her problem. Seeing that she wasn’t completely, convince with his advice AA, ask her “didn’t you tell Dan, to confess his feeling to the girl, that he likes?” donut, nodded her head not knowing why aa, had ask her this question. seeing her confuse expression he continue “so, shouldn’t you take your own advice & tell Dan, that you like him?” donut, was startled by his question & quickly, ask “huh, why would I do that?” aa, reply “didn’t you tell Dan, that if a person hid their feelings from the other person that they like that it would mean that by any chance, that they could be together would be gone.” donut, contemplated his words but didn’t know how to respond. Seeing her bewildered expression AA, said “I’ve like plenty of girls, in my day, & know that matter of the heart can’t be avoided. you should try to face your issue instead, of running away from them.” aa, contemplated his own relationship with donut, & said with sincerity, “even if you can’t be with the person you like sometimes, just being by their side as a friend has its own reward.” donut, nodded her head in agreement & decided that what he was saying was absolutely, correct. She smiles at him sweetly, & thank, him for listening to her trouble. AA, return the smile & reply “I’ll always be here if you need me.” with a renew sense of serenity donut, enter the house after she was drop off by AA’s driver & quickly, went to Dan’s room in hope of mending their somewhat, tattered relationship. She knocks on his door & heard him ask who it was. she reply “it’s me, I want to let you know, that I was back & want to see if it was ok, if I could come in to clean your room, now?” Dan was surprise that it was donut, & quickly, made his way to the door. when he open the door he saw that she was standing before him with a smile on her face & wonder what was going on. He noted that she seems like a completely, different person & wonder what had cause the sudden transformation. Trying to remain calm he beckons for her to enter & ask “so, how did your study session go?” she places her shoulder bag down on the floor with her textbook & proceeds to walk further, into his room as she replies “surprisingly, well. I think, I learn a lot, today.” Dan didn’t fully understand her response but was glad to see that their interaction with one another had return to normal. Dan, watch as she clean his room & ask her if she was excited about her birthday party this upcoming, Saturday. She looks up from her task & smile at him saying “yes, I’m looking forward to it. At first, I thought, I might be very anxious, about the party but I think, I’ve gotten overcome that anxiety, now.” Dan, thought to himself ‘oh, so she’s been acting so, strange because, she was worry about the party.’ he found that his thought were interrupted when he heard her say “have you prepare a good gift for me, yet?” looking up at her relax smile he reply playfully, “of course, I’ve prepare a good gift you know, how thoughtful I can be when I put my mind to it.” seeing his bright smile as he talk donut, was very happy that aa, had convince her to stop avoiding him & thought to herself ‘the reward of being friends with the person you like is truly, a great gift. I’ll treasure it, always.’ at school aa, noted that it appear as though Dan’s relationship with donut, had been fully restore as the two begin to come & go with one another as usual. Beam, also notice that the pair was on much better term now, & wonder what was actually, going on. The remainder of the school week, pass relatively quickly, & the day, of her big birthday celebration had finally, arrive. Everyone in the danuwong, household was busy preparing for the party & the women, of the house had taken donut, out to the hair salon to get her hair & make-up done. Dan too had an important task to complete & headed out of the house to go to the east side of town. With only an hour, before the party was schedule to start everyone in the danuwong, household was assemble in the main hall as Dan’s mother, gave her instruction regarding the guest, food & entertainment. Donut, look out her window at the backyard & saw that a big white canopy had been erected on the back lawn. She watches as people enter & exit the canopy with trey of food & beverages. She looks at herself in the mirror smiling at the reflection at peer back. She couldn’t imagine that she would be able to have such a grand sweet sixteen, party & tilt from side to side to see her dress sway. Hearing that she was being called by Dan’s grandmother, from the hallway donut, quickly exit her room & met the elderly woman, near the stairway. Dan’s grandmother, smile broadly, as she look at donut, & said “you look so, beautiful in that dress.” donut, blush at the compliment & wonder what Dan, would think when he saw her. Dan’s grandmother, ask whether, she would be wearing the necklace that she had given her a while, back which cause donut, to startle. She didn’t know how to respond since she knew that the necklace had already been pawn. Dan’s grandmother, smile & said “the necklace would go very well with your dress but if you don’t want to, it’s ok.” donut, felt a deep sense of remorse & begin to say “I…I would like to wear the necklace but…” before she could continue she was interrupted by the sound of Dan’s voice as he interject “grandmother, I think, she would love to wear that necklace tonight.” donut, look up astonished at Dan, as worry quickly, overtook her face. Dan, simply smiles at her & looks back towards his grandmother, & asks “would it be ok, if donut, stay up here for a little while, to help me with my tie? I can’t figure out how to tie it, correctly.” Dan’s grandmother, smile & reply “of course, but both of you come down when you’re ready. Try to hurry, since the guest will be arriving in less than a hour.” daze by the turn of event donut, tentatively follow Dan, into his bedroom & quickly, ask “why did you say that I would wear the necklace you know, that I pawn it already?” Dan, saw the concern on her face, took out the necklace from his pocket & reply “I said, that because, I have it right, here.” shock, donut watch as he dangle the necklace in his hand. she couldn’t believe that he had gone back to the pawn shop to retrieve it & said gratefully, “Dan, thank you so, much for doing that.” he smile upon seeing her so, thrill & was finally, cognizant of the way she look as she stood before him. He observe that her hair was in an undone up do style while her long orange strapless a-line with detachable spaghettis straps. Chiffon dress hugs the curve of her body. He thought to himself how stunning she look & found it hard to look away. donut, blush as she saw his expression as he look at her & wonder whether, he thought that she look, ok. realizing that he had been staring at her for too, long Dan, quickly averted his eyes & said “you look nice, today.” donut, blush at his compliment & reply “thank you.” turning his attention back to the necklace he held in his hand he ask “do you want me to help you with this?” donut, smile & nodded her head to indicate that she would like his assistance & turn her back to him as he put on the necklace. He walks up to her tentatively, & draped the necklace around her neck before closing the clasp. Donut, readjust the necklace & turn back around to face him. She ask “how does it look?” Dan, stood speechless, for a moment, before replying “it looks great.” knowing that the family was waiting from them, Dan reluctantly, suggest that they head downstairs but before he could move past her, donut reminded him that he still didn’t have his tie fasten. She went to his bed, grab his tie & walk over to him. She held up the tie & offer “here, let me help you with this.” he nodded & observe her as she begin to loop the tie around his neck. He watches as she focus on fastening his necktie & was happy that they were able to share this moment, before the party guest had arrived.

Chapter 19: birthday party (part 2)
Dan & donut made their way downstairs & headed towards the canopy which had been constructed on the back lawn. Although, it was a cold day, strategically place heat lamp around the canopy help to spread warmth within the structure. The comfortable temperature within the canopy allows donut, to wear her strapless dress with little need for even a light jacket. When she enter the canopy donut, look around & saw pristine table cover with white linen tablecloth surrounded by chair complete with white slip cover adorned with pink stashes tie in perfect bow. Bouquet of pink stargazer lily in elegant flower vase sat atop each table surrounded by eight place setting all place at equal distance apart. A stage had been set up towards the front end of the canopy with a small dance floor position at its base. Pink & white balloon attach with spiral string floated in the air. Dan, saw that donut, was completely, awe struck by what she saw & lean towards her to ask “doesn’t this look more like a wedding set up then a sweet sixteen, party?” donut, look over at him & saw that he was smiling at her sweetly, & reply “I have never been to a sweet sixteen, or wedding party, so I can’t really, answer that.” hearing her response Dan, said “well, since your having a sweet sixteen, party that’s this grand we’ll just have to make sure, your wedding party, is even more impressive.” Dan’s eyes grew wide upon realizing what he had just said & quickly, clarify in a fluster tone “I mean that my grandparent & parent would want you to have an even better wedding. I mean…oh, never mind, I don’t even know why were talking about wedding.” seeing that Dan, was becoming somewhat, fluster donut, jokingly reply “we weren’t talking about wedding you were talking about wedding & in any event, you should just leave my wedding plan to my future, husband.” glad to be off the topic of wedding Dan, ask donut, whether she was hungry & offer to get her some food. being in a playful mood donut, ask “why’re you being so, nice to me, today?” he look at her with a confuse expression & counter “are you trying to say that I’m not usually, nice to you?” donut, smile at him & said “not as often, as you should be.” he look at her with agitation, held out his hand & said “if that’s the case give me back the necklace.” she put her hand over the necklace & reply “once you’ve given me something you can’t have it back.” with that she walk away leaving Dan, speechless as he thought to himself ‘I guess, you’re right. Since I’ve given you my heart there isn’t any way, I can think of a way to take it back.’ Dan, speed up to catch up to donut, as the two made their way over to where his family member were gather. After the pair had made their formal greeting to the adult Dan’s grandparent excitedly, comment on how adorable they look & express that they hope that donut, would enjoy her big night. Dan’s mother, smile broadly, as she look at donut, & said “you’re so beautiful, today. Looking at you like this I really, wish I had a, daughter.” Dan’s grandmother, reply “Dan, will be marry one day, & when that day, comes you’ll have gain a, daughter in law.” upon hearing the discussion turn towards Dan’s future wife, donut’s heart sank as she begin to recall his mystery girl B. she look at Dan, & wonder if his girl, would be at the party tonight. She didn’t have long to dwell on these thought as Dan’s grandmother & mother, begin to usher her towards the canopy’s entrance to help greet the guest. Within an hour, all of the guest had arrived & were enjoying the music, food & beverages as they mingle among themselves. Since donut, was typically, uncomfortable with being the center of attention she was relieve when the formal guest greeting were over. With that formality, complete donut, was happy to be able to rejoin her friends at their table. Dan’s grandparent thought it would be best to have her sit with her friends, instead. Donut had a sweet smile on her face as she approaches her group of friends & took her seat in between, Dan & beam. Before she even had a chance to drink the cup of punch in front of her, she found that she was being drag away by AA, & led to the dance floor. she ask him as he led her along “what’re you doing?” aa, look at her & reply “I’m stealing the first, dance.” seeing his ever liveliness donut, reply “you didn’t have to steal it just ask next time & I would be happy to dance with you.” when they reach the dance floor aa, place his arm around her waist but quickly, found that she had reposition them to rest on her shoulder, instead. she smile at him & said “you know, better than that.” with an amuse grin he reply “you can’t blame a guy, for trying.” the two continue to dance & chat happily as donut, inform him that everything was ok, between Dan & herself, & that she was now, at peace with the situation. He reply that he was happy that she had been able to let go of her burden & ask that she now, focus on repaying him for his good advice. donut, smile at him, place her head on his shoulder & said “is this enough repayment?” to which he reply “I would have prefer a kiss but I’ll take what I can get.” donut, laugh & said “your such a flirt.” back at the table Dan, sat fuming as he watch the pair interaction & said to himself “do you have to be close with every guy, in the room?” of similar thought beam, wonder where donut’s heart really, lay. Restless, beam decided that he didn’t want to wait on the sideline for her affection any longer & made his way to the dance floor. Before their song was over he tap AA, on the shoulder & asks whether, he could cut in. AA couldn’t refuse & handed donut, over to her friend. beam, place his arm on donut’s shoulder & said “you look so, beautiful tonight.” she blush at his compliment & reply “thank you, but you don’t have to say that.” before he could respond donut, suddenly said “they’re playing your favorite song.” beam, look up at the band & listen as he heard the beginning note of ‘alone’ (song by heart). turning his attention back to donut, he ask “you still remember, that this is my favorite song?” donut, nodded her head & reply “of course, I remember, your my best friend.” she didn’t let him respond before continuing “I never understood why you like this song so, much it’s so, sad.” beam, slightly smile & said “I have my reason.” not fully understanding his comment donut, simply smile & dance comfortably, in his arm as she listen to

When the song had concluded donut, thank beam, for the dance & suggest that they return to their table. When they arrive back at the table donut, sat down & begin to take a drink of her fruit punch. The guy, at the table all asks her if they too, could have a spot on her dance card. She smile & said she would be happy to dance with everyone. she look over at Dan, & hope that he would ask her to dance but notice that he had a sour expression on his face as he stare off into the distance. She wonder, what had upset him & ask him discreetly, “are you, ok?” he turn to her & answer gruffly, “no, I’m not, ok. Why do you keep bothering me? why don’t you just focus your attention on trying to dance with as many guy, as possible.” she was dumbfounded by his response & reply in a hurt tone “just because, your mad about something don’t take it out on me.” with that she turn her body to face beam, leaving Dan, even madder. AA, had witness the scene, lean close to his friend & said “Dan, please accompany me to my car I forgot to bring donut’s gift?” Dan, looks at him strangely, & replies “why do I have to come with you? You’re a big boy, you can get it yourself.” undeterred, AA reply “its heavy pal, would you just come & help?” Dan shook his head, sigh & reluctantly, follow. Donut, watches as Dan & AA, walk out of the canopy & couldn’t get over the sense of melancholy that was washing over her. Feeling suffocated by her unpleasant encounter with Dan, donut said to beam, “I’m going to step out for some air. I’ll be right, back.” beam, stood up as he saw her start to move out of her chair & ask “do you want me to come with you?” donut, want to be alone & reply “no, it’s ok. I’ll be right, back.” sensing that she was trouble he didn’t want to become overbearing & said “ok, hurry back.” on the other side of the house Dan, walk beside aa, & ask “where did you park your car?” aa, look at him & said “we aren’t going to my car. I just want to get you out here to talk to you.” Dan, look mad & ask “you couldn’t just talk to me in there?” AA, reply “no, I couldn’t. I didn’t think it was appropriate to ask you why you’re being such an idiot in there.” Dan, stare at his friend blankly, & ask in an agitated tone “what did you just say?” AA, shook his head feeling that his level of annoyance had reach its peak & reply “we’ve been friends our whole lives & I can tell that you like, donut! Why’re you treating her like that if you have feelings for her?! Do you think she’ll just fall for you if you continue to make her feel bad?! It’s her birthday, after all!” Dan was stung by his friend heated tone & said “how am I suppose to act? She’s dancing with this guy, & that guy, & she doesn’t even care how that makes me feel.” AA, reply “it’s her birthday party, of course; she’s obligated to dance with us. Did you tell her you like her? If she knew that you like her & still act like that then yes, you would have every right, to be angry but knowing you & your stupid pride I know, you haven’t told her anything.” Dan, listen to AA’s word but counter “how can I just tell her? What if she doesn’t like me? what if we can’t even bear to be around one another after I confess?” aa, seem to have become calmer as he said “those question are all valid & I know, it’s scary putting yourself out there like that but don’t you think having the chance to be with her is worth the risk? if you keep this up sooner or later, someone else is going to swoop in & take the risk that you weren’t willing to take & then you really, will have lost her.” knowing that his friend was right, Dan was unable, to respond & simply nodded his head, pat aa, on his shoulder & turn to run back towards the canopy. When he reach their table he saw that donut, wasn’t in her seat. He then proceeds to look towards the dance floor & saw that she wasn’t there also. He walks up to beam, & ask “where’s donut?” beam, hesitantly reply “she said she want to get some air & just step out.” Dan thought to himself ‘where could she have gone?’ & without another word he exits the canopy. Beam, watch as Dan, left & felt a sense of uneasiness, overtake him. Dan ran back into the house & went to donut’s room & found that she wasn’t there. After a moment, of contemplation it finally, dawn on him that she might have gone to the gazebo. Whenever, she wants to be alone he notice that she would always go there. He quickly, headed towards the gazebo & found that she was indeed, standing there alone. Her back was turn to him as she gaze up at the night sky with her arm wrap around herself for warmth. He approach her quietly, & ask “what’re you doing out here?” hearing his voice she turn around to face him but didn’t respond. Seeing that she wasn’t answering Dan, continue “aren’t you cold?” she shook her head to indicate that she wasn’t cold. He knew she was lying since he saw the goose bump on her arm & her lips quiver as a gust of wind swept by. The two stood there for a short while, in silence before donut, finally ask “what’re you doing out here?” contemplating his answer he reply “I came out here to ask you if you still had room for me on your dance Card?” she look at him with a surprise expression & watch as he held out his hand to her. Although, she was upset with him for his early, behavior she couldn’t pass up the chance to finally, be able to dance with him. She took his hand but ask tentatively, “but there’s no, music?” Dan, reply “we don’t need music I’ll sing you a song that we can dance to, instead.” donut, was dumbfounded by his response & wonder why he was acting so, strangely. before she could consider the situation any further, she felt that he had wrap his arm around her waist, pull her in close to his body & begin to guide her body swaying from side to side. She closed her eyes & gasp as she felt their closeness & listen as he begin to hum a familiar melody & sing ‘crush’ (by David aculeate)

She saw the adorably, anxious expression on his face & bashfully, respond “it’s real for me, too.” elated by her response he hug her tightly, & thought to himself that he never want to let go.

Chapter 20: our relationship
although, donut delighted in the fact, that she was being held so, tenderly in Dan’s arm she knew that their presence would be miss at the party & started to step back from their embrace. she was surprise when Dan, suddenly pull her back towards his body asking “where do you think you’re going?” the tone in which he deliver the question sent her heart aflutter but she manage to reply “um, I thought, that we should probably, head back to the party.” knowing that she was right, Dan unwillingly, loosen his grip & broke free from their embrace. He looks at her face & couldn’t tell if she was blushing from their close proximity, to one another or if the night air had caused her cheek to become flush. Fearing that she might become ill due to the cold weather he quickly, remove his jacket & draped it over her shoulder. Not wanting the moment, to end so, soon Dan, suggest that they remain in the gazebo for a couple more minute. Seeing that she wasn’t opposing to the suggestion Dan, took her by the hand & lead her over towards the bench. Donut, look down at their clasp hand & thought to herself how well they fit together. a faint smile appear on her face at that thought which was notice by Dan, as he ask “what’re you smiling about?” she didn’t verbally, respond to him, opting instead, to show him as she raise their clasp hand. Dan, chuckle at the sight of her bashfulness & change the subject by saying “our anniversary should be easy to remember, since it’s only one day, after your birthday.” donut, look at him & playfully, reply “you must like me a lot. I haven’t even been your girlfriend, for 10 minute, & you’re already talking about our anniversary?” embarrass by donut’s astute observation Dan, quickly clarify “it’s not because, I like you, a lot that I’m talking about this. it’s because, I’m a very organize person who always plan ahead.” donut, could sense his embarrassment but couldn’t resist the chance to prod him further, as she reply “well, if you don’t like me very much then let go of my hand. there are plenty, of guys, at the party who would probably, better enjoy my company.” as she finish her statement she proceed to pull her hand away from his grasp causing him to involuntarily, tighten his grip. He watch as a knowing smile appears on donut’s face & knew that from that moment, on she would have the upper hand in this relationship. turning his attention to more pertinent matter Dan, said briskly, “since you acknowledge that your my girlfriend, you should know that you need to keep a good distance away from those guys, at the party.” before she could respond to his gruff demand Dan, continue “come to think of it keep away from them at school, the mall, restaurant…” before Dan, could finish his thought donut, interjected saying “if you keep naming places we’ll be here, forever. Let’s go back before the adult begin to worry.” as she spoke she saw that the expression on Dan’s face had suddenly, change & started to realize what was troubling him. She asks in a serious tone “what’re we going to tell your family? Will they be ok, if were like this with one another?” Dan didn’t know the answer to her question but reply “we aren’t related, at all. My grandparent just happens to be your legal guardian. They probably, won’t have a problem with this. I’ll talk to my grandfather, tomorrow & let him know what’s going on. So, don’t worry, about it.” although, Dan had tried to appease her fear donut, was still apprehensive about the situation. Even though, the Danuwong, family had always treated her kindly, she understood that she wasn’t a suitable match for Dan, given her rather undesirable lineage & her social ranking in life. Not wanting to dwell on the issue any longer Dan, suggest that they head back. With that the new couple made their way to the canopy. Before they enter donut, drew away her hand & gave him back his jacket. Dan was unhappy with her action since they show her desire to keep their relationship a secret. Seeing the upset expression on Dan’s face donut, explain “I think, we need to be careful so, that our relationship isn't reveal before you speak to your family. I don’t want to put them in a difficult position.” Dan’s expression softens upon hearing her explanation since he knew that she was only looking out for his family best interest. He nodded his head in agreement & opens the canopy door for her to enter. Once, inside her & Dan, took their respective seat at the table. their friends inquire about where they had gone off to which prompt the two too, quickly reply “we just went out for some air.” aa, look over at his friend & gave him a knowing smile as he lean in to say “looks like you took care of business.” Dan, smile & reply “yeah, all thanks to you.” AA, nodded his head please, with himself & said “you two better remember, my contribution when you get marry.” since donut, was now, paying closer attention to Dan, she overheard the conversation between the two friend & smile shyly, upon hearing the mention of marriage. Dan caught a glimpse of her smile & discreetly, grab her hand beneath the table as he flash his irresistible smile at her. It quickly, came time for donut, to cut her cake & open her present. Once, these festivities were complete the guest begin to leave & all express their warmest birthday wish to her. Exhausted from the party every member of the Danuwong, household slept in the next morning, except donut, who had gotten up early to prepare breakfast? she had ask the kitchen staff whether, it would be ok, if she prepare the morning, meal since they had all work so, hard at her party the previous day. The kitchen staff gratefully, accepts her considerate gesture & left as she begins to get started on the meal. She had only finished preparing everything a couple of minute, before she heard voice in the dining room. She quickly, place the prepare dish on a tray & head out. Upon entering the dining room she saw that the entire adult had already taken their seat at the table. She smile, raise the tray & said “I thought, I’d make breakfast today, to thank, everyone for the wonderful party yesterday.” all of the adult smile happily at her & thank, her for her thoughtfulness. Happily, donut places the dish down in front of each member of the family & continues to return to the kitchen to retrieve the rest of the meal. upon her final trip back to the dining room she walk in to see that Dan, had taken his seat by his mother, & was now, staring at her with a wide grin on his face. She was struck by his sudden presence & self-conscious of his constant gaze but tries her best not to become too, affected. She sheepishly, walks over to him & places his dish on his place setting before stepping away. Dan, watch her as she walk to the side table to place the serving tray down & remove her apron all the while thinking to himself how cute the pink & white apron look on her. He said to himself ‘she’s really, going to make a good wife, one day.’ & was startled with the realization that he had already seem to consider her as his future, wife. When breakfast was complete the family member went their separate way since they all had previous engagement. Dan was disappointed that he wouldn’t have the chance to speak to his grandfather, about his situation with donut, but was happy to find that he could now, spend the day, comfortably with her without supervision. Seeing that donut, had intend to spend the day, studying Dan, complain about how she wasn’t a good girlfriend, leaving her boyfriend, to spend the day, alone. Seeing his disappointment donut, conceded as she ask “if you don’t want me to study then what do you want to do, instead?” he smile at her & reply “let’s go to the park.” donut, agree to the suggestion & went to her room. When she was dress appropriately, she headed back downstairs to see that Dan was already at the front door waiting for her. She saw his expression as he stare at her & said to herself ‘I guess, he likes my outfit.’ Once, in the family car Dan, asks the driver, to take them to the nearest park. The driver, did as he was instructed & was subsequently, ask by Dan, to come back in two hour, time. Dan & donut, stroll around the park hand in hand before Dan, stop to say “I didn’t get a chance to give you your birthday present yesterday.” donut, didn’t understand his statement & reply “what do you mean? You already gave me back the necklace.” he shook his head & reply “that wasn’t my present. That was my grandmother’s present to you.” donut, protest “but you had to spend money to buy it back from the pawn shop.” Dan, nodded his head & simply reply “yeah, but I would have gotten it back even if it wasn’t your birthday.” upon completing his response he guide donut, over to the bench & instructed her to sit. Sitting on the bench she watch as he stood in front of her while taking out a nicely wrap box. She excitedly, held out her hand to him as she beam with anticipation. he laugh upon seeing her expression & said “your just like a little kid on Christmas day.” she didn’t respond & only extended her hand out further, to indicate that he should hand over the gift. Dan, place the gift in her hand & watch as she quickly, tore the wrapping. as he saw her ripping away the paper he comment “if I knew you were going to be like this I wouldn’t have bother wrapping it so, nicely.” donut, stop momentarily, & reply “should I slow down then?” she then proceed to gently, rip away the remaining wrapping. He laughs at her playfulness, & said “oh, just hurry up.” she smile at him & said “see, you want me to open it quickly, too.” & resume her previous, frenzied pace. Donut, look at the small rectangular box with eagerness & carefully, open its lid. She peers inside & saw the most beautiful hand-craft hanging ornament. The ornament was in the shape of a yellow sun with amber, red & orange ray & came complete with a bead tail. She was speechless, & was only able to look up at Dan, with astonishment. seeing that she like the gift Dan, explain “now, you don’t have to wait for the summer solstice to be close to the sun.” he look at her & notice that she wasn’t responding so, he continue to say “its hand-blown glass & it took me forever, to make it but seeing your expression is well worth the time.” without a word donut, stood up from the bench, threw her arm around Dan, & pull him in close to her as she move forward to kiss him. Dan’s eyes shot wide open as he felt her lips atop his & was shock that she had initiated their first kiss. He wraps his arm around her & responds to her kiss as he thought to himself ‘I guess, she likes the gift.’ Unbeknownst, to the couple two set of eyes were staring intently, at them. The elder Mr. & Mrs. Danuwong had come to the park early that morning, for a stroll & was shock to see donut & Dan, in such an intimate situation. Dan’s grandmother, turn to her husband, & said “is that really, them?” Dan’s grandfather nodded his head in disbelief & quickly, turns his wife, away to walk in the opposite direction. As the two walk away they were dumbfounded & didn’t know what to think of the situation. Dan’s grandmother finally contended “I guess it was bound to happen. they’re always together & they’re so, close.” Dan’s grandfather, respond hesitantly, “but this will complicate things much more.” with a worry sigh his wife, reply “for the sake of us all I pray that our family past tie never become unearth.” Dan’s grandfather, look worriedly, at her as she finish her statement & only nodded his head in agreement.

Chapter 21: am pathinya punlerdwongsakul

Back at the danuwong, house Dan’s grandfather, sat in his office staring at a weather photograph which had been age, by the yellow hue around its edge. The image capture in the photograph was that of himself at the young age, of twenty-five, standing beside his best friend, am pathinya punlerdwongsakul. Am, was the son, of his father’s primary attendant & subsequently, became his own attendant. Even though, am was his attendant by name Dan’s grandfather, regard him as a brother, & a most trusted confidant. The two provide support for one another in their study, relationship & even share the same dream of one day, become successful in the architectural world. While Dan’s grandfather, had all of the benefit of coming from a rich family he saw that am’s talent far outweigh his own. Am, had the ability to produce blueprint of the most creatively functional architectural structure he had ever seen. Dan’s grandfather, look at the date stamp imprinted on the bottom of the picture & remember, that it was on this date that they had decided to become business partner in their own construction company. The partner decided to name their new company DP unlimited. The company’s name held the imply meaning that when danuwong & punlerdwongsakul, were join the possibility, were unlimited. Dan’s grandfather, recall that during that period of time, both men, were working so, hard to gain recognition within the architectural community that they often, neglected their own growing family. As a testament to his unwavering commitment to their partnership am, had even miss the birth of his only son, in order to accompany Dan’s grandfather, on a business trip to the gyeonggi province. Am, had insist on coming along with him to assist with the contract bid-defense. the trip to the gyeonggi province prove to be successful, since the partner were able to secure the contract to break ground on a large scale high-rise apartment complex in the metropolitan city of inch eon. Both, men knew that the inch eon project would either catapult or sink DP unlimited. Up to that point in time, the company had only ever complete small scale project including building private home, renovations of existing home & office suite construction. Although, it was am’s blueprint design that had won the inch eon contract bid for the company the financial resource to keep the company afloat came from Dan’s grandfather’s family. Since this was the case am, had always insist that Dan’s grandfather, take the role of president of the company while he would remain the company’s primary project consultant. Half-way through the preparation period of the inch eon project Dan’s grandfather & am, receive disturbing news that several of the home that they had built several year, earlier had collapse under the pressure of a mild earthquake. A total of 12 people had die as a direct result of the building collapse which prompted a safety, review board to conduct a private investigation on the soundness of the building structure. Nearly a month had gone by before the report was release to, Dan’s grandfather & am. The report note that while there were no, structural deficiencies with the blueprint design or construction of the home it did attribute the collapse to gross negligence on the part of DP unlimited. The report cited that the steel beam use to construct the home weren’t up to code & different from the one listed on the supply contract. The report finding held that DP unlimited weren’t only civilly responsible but also criminally, responsible for the death of the 12 victim. Dan’s grandfather, recall that he had been so, stung by the report finding that he could do nothing, but sit daze & confuse in their office. Meanwhile, am work to contact the supplier for that project? Am, soon found that the supplier was no, longer in business & begin to investigate to see why they were now, defunct. His investigation led to the realization that the supplier had been embroiled in a two year, civil suit in America over the structural safety, of their steel product. Since the company was still in pending litigation, news of their product manufacturing deficiencies couldn’t be made public. Although, it could be argue that DP unlimited wasn’t aware of the misdealing of their supplier, in the eyes of the law the company was grossly negligent in failing to inspect the building material prior to using it in their build. Dan’s grandfather knew that once the report was made public their company wouldn’t only lose the inch eon build but would also begin a series of intense civil & criminal litigations. Bracing himself for the worst Dan’s grandfather, assure am, that they would face the upcoming challenge together. Am, was in agreement with him & the two men, promise to weather this storm together. Dan’s grandfather, remember that he had gone home that night, to his family with the deepest apprehension for what the next day, would bring. During dinner that night, he receives a call from am, asking him to meet at the office tomorrow morning, at 9:00am to discuss their option with their lawyer. Dan’s grandfather, agree & hope that the lawyer would be able to figure out how the company would be able to at least, avoid any criminal charge of gross negligence. The next morning, before he was schedule to meet with am, & the lawyer Dan’s grandfather, turn on the television to see whether, the content of the safety, review board report had been leak to the media. Much to his astonishment he saw image of am, being arrested outside of their office building. The television news anchor report “in a shocking turn of event DP unlimited primary contractor am pathinya punlerdwongsakul, has admit to the embezzlement of company fund. the police have release a statement indicating that the contractor work with supplier to swap quality, steel product for imitation low-quality, noncompliant product as a mean of embezzling company money.” Dan’s grandfather, was confuse by the report & quickly, made his way to the police station where am, was being held. He brought the company’s lawyer & gain admittance to meet with his partner. He sat with the lawyer in the police station meeting room & waited for am, to be brought out. The company’s primary lawyer indicates that he & his team would start working on the bail issue while Mr. Danuwong & Mr. Punlerdwongsakul, spoke. After twenty minute, of waiting a police officer, escort am, into the room & left locking the door behind him. Seeing the look of confusion on his partner’s face am, explain “this was the only way I could think of to save the company.” upon hearing his friend’s explanation Dan’s grandfather, reply “you shouldn’t have done that. Were both responsible for this? We should’ve done a thorough check on that supplier & their product before using it in our build.” am, sat quietly, for a while, before saying “how could we have known we were new to the business but that isn’t important now, what’s important is the company. Since I was the primary contractor on those entire project it only make senses that I admit, fault this way so, the company is neither civilly or criminally, responsible.” Dan’s grandfather, stare at am, intently before saying “but that makes you responsible. Don’t you understand that you’ll be put in jail for this.” am, nodded his head solemnly, & reply “I’ve weigh all of the option & I’m ok, with this. However, I do think that we’ll need to make reparation to the family of those 12 victims.” Dan’s grandfather, slam his fist on the table & angrily, said “I’m going out there right now, to tell them the truth you aren’t going to face this alone.” am, look calmly, at his friend & ask “if you do that who’ll take care of our family. Do you want our wives & children to have no, one to take care of them? While I’m in here do your best to build our company & help me look after my family?” Dan’s grandfather fought back his tear realizing that his ever logical friend was correct. If they both were in jail their family would be the one to suffer the most. Resign to circumstances Dan’s grandfather, conceded to his friend’s wish & watch over the next couple of month, as am, was charge & convicted of gross negligence & sentences to 5 year, in prison. Following the sentencing am’s wife, divorce him stating that she was ashamed by his dishonorable action & quickly, remarry. Dan’s grandfather, did his best to remain in contact with the punlerdwongsakul, family to provide monetary assistance but found that after am’s wife, had remarry she had done her best to cut the tie between their families. The stress of prison life couple with his depression over the loss of his family cause am, to become deathly, ill. Unable to help his friend Dan’s grandfather, could only watch as am’s condition continue to deteriorate. Shortly thereafter, he receives news that am’s illness had overtaken him & that he had die alone in his prison cell. With the passing of his friend Dan’s grandfather, remember that he had vow to find am’s family to care for them as though they were his own. This promise led him to employ a private investigator to track down am’s family which ultimately, results in him finding donut, & her family member. The recollection of this tragedy, cause tears to stream down his face as he put away the photograph. He then look over to a frame picture of donut’s smiling face & said remorsefully, “I’m truly sorry, for hiding this from you but I believe it’s for the best.”

Chapter 22: blessing

on their way back home from the park Dan, notice that donut, had press herself against the car door in order to create the most distance from him as was physically, possible. He understood the motive behind her avoidance but didn’t think it was necessary. He had already decided that he would tell his family about their relationship the moment, they arrive home. Since he didn’t have the same reservation as donut, he proceeds to move closer to her. Donut, immediately sense his presence as he was now, only a few inch away from her. She furrows her brow at Dan, tilting her head to indicate that he should move away. He smile upon seeing her expression & mouth ‘no, I don’t want to’. seeing that he had no, intention of being discreet Donut’s eyes grew wider as she quickly, respond in a stern but low voice “do it or else.” teasingly, Dan whisper softly, “or else what?” Dan, could see the wheel in donut’s mind turning as she thought of what she should do next & grin to himself thinking that there was nothing, she could do. Much to his surprise she suddenly, stomp on his foot causing him to back away & yelp in pain. As he held his foot he look over at her with astonishment, & saw a satisfy expression overtake her face as she said “I already warn you.” playing up his injury Dan, close his eyes, grimace & exclaim “ow! My foot really, hurts!” seeing him writhe in pain donut, quickly rush to his side, bent down to focus her attention on his foot & said “I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to do it that hard. Are you, ok?” a wide grin appears on his face as he watches her fret over him. seeing her in that state he bent down to covertly, kiss her on the cheek & whisper “all better, now.” his affectionate behavior cause a red hue to appear on her cheek as she move away & look out the window trying to conceal her own bashful smile. hearing all of the commotion coming from the backseat the driver, ask “is everything ok, back there?” Dan, gave a slight chuckle & reply “everything’s great back here.” when they got home they were met at the front door by butler passin, who inform Dan, that his grandfather, was waiting for him in the formal study. Dan, indicate that he would be in shortly, to see his grandfather, & thank, butler passin, for the message. He then turns to give donut, a reassuring nod & told her that everything would be, ok. Seeing that they were now, alone donut, held onto his arm & ask “what do you think your grandfather, want to see you about? do you think he knows?” Dan, wrap his arm around her shoulder pulling her closer before replying “I don’t know, what he want to see me about but I intend to talk to him about our relationship, anyhow. Go back to your room & I’ll stop by when I’ve talk to him.” donut, was nervous about the whole situation & could only agree to wait for Dan, to return. Although, Dan tries his best to remain calm in front of donut, he could tell that he was becoming more nervous the closer he got to his grandfather’s study. Once, outside the large oak door Dan, ask “grandfather, were you looking for me?” Dan’s grandfather said behind the close door “yes, come in here.” Dan, open the door & saw that his grandfather, was sitting behind the large marble desk staring at him. He notices that there was something strange about his grandfather’s expression, taking particular note of his puffy red eye. Seeing that his grandson was staring at him the elder Mr. Danuwong, instructed “come sit down I have a serious matter to talk to you about.” Dan, did as he was ask & sat with anticipation wondering what his grandfather, want to discuss. Dan’s grandfather, gave a long sigh before saying “your grandmother & I, were at the park this morning, & we witness something very interesting.” realizing that his grandfather, was fully aware of his situation with donut, Dan quickly, respond “so, I guess, you know, everything then. I want to talk to you about it this morning, but you had already left. I really, like donut, & I don’t know how you feel about the situation but there’s nothing, that’s going to stop me from being with her.” Dan’s grandfather was astonished by the conviction in his grandson’s voice as he spoke & knew that there was nothing that could be said to deter him from pursuing his relationship with, donut. Dan’s grandfather, thought to himself ‘am, perhaps this is your way of forever, intertwining our family.’ Dan, saw that his grandfather, hadn’t respond to his early, statement & ask “grandfather, will you give us your blessing?” not answering his grandson’s question his grandfather, reply “I’ve heard everything I need from you. go get donut, I’d like to talk to her alone.” Dan was worry about his grandfather’s request & didn’t want donut, to have to face him alone & said “you can’t convince her not to be with me either & if you try to send her away I’ll go with her.” Dan’s grandfather, soften upon seeing his grandson’s fervor & reply “who said anything about sending her away? I would sooner send you away than her. I just want to ask her about how she feels about this situation before I can come up with any decision on the matter.” relieve by his grandfather’s response Dan, excuse himself to go get, donut. Dan, enter donut’s room & saw that she was sitting anxiously, on her bed hugging Dan jr. upon seeing him, donut quickly, got up from the bed & ask “so?” he move closer to her & reply “I told him everything.” being sure, to omit the fact that his grandparent had seen them earlier at the park. She looks at him apprehensively, & asks “what did he say? Was he mad? Did you get yell at? what’re we going to do?” Dan, smile at her & ask “which question should I answer, first?” too, nervous to humor him, donut demanded “tell me, what did he say?!” seeing her worry state he reply “he said he wants to talk to you about the situation before he can make a decision about the matter.” donut’s eyes widen upon hearing his response & ask in a low voice “how can I talk to him alone?” Dan, hug her tightly, & reply “I’ll be right, outside the door so, don’t worry, about it.” donut, made her way down to Dan’s grandfather’s study with trepidation & look at Dan, before taking a deep breath & enter the room. She looks onto the ground & stood frozen with fear. Dan’s grandfather, felt for her as he saw her terrify disposition & said in a gentle tone “come sit down.” still avoiding eye contact donut, made her way to the chair & remain focus on the floor. Seeing that she was very uncomfortable, Dan’s grandfather, explain “Dan, told me about your relationship & I want to ask you here to confirm that it is indeed, the truth. Are you two together?” she took a deep breath before nodding her head shyly, confirming Dan’s statement. upon receiving her confirmation, Dan’s grandfather, ask “do you really, like him?” seeing that she could no, longer remain silent since Dan’s grandfather, was waiting for a response she look up at him & said as calmly, as possible “I understand that I’m not a good match for Dan, & your family has been so, kind to me over the last year, but I have to be truthful & tell you that I really, like Dan, very much. I have never felt this way about anyone in my whole life.” Dan’s grandfather, listen intently, at her response & thought that while she & Dan, were very young their convictions about love were very mature. He was about to speak when he notice that his door had become ajar. He stood up & calls out “Dan, come in here it’s not polite to eavesdrop on other people’s conversation!” donut, quickly turn around towards the door to see Dan, enter bashfully, upon being caught by his, grandfather. Donut’s face turns bright red upon seeing him & realizes that he had overheard everything that she had just said. To lighten the awkward moment, Dan’s grandfather, address donut, causing her & Dan, to turn their attention to him as he said “donut, you said that you’re not a good match for our, Dan. I don’t agree with you. He’s very lucky to have you as a, girlfriend. I give you both my warmest blessing.” Donut, was touch by his statement & reply “thank you, for saying so, grandfather danuwong.” unable, to contain himself, Dan quickly, went to donut, & hug her happily. Dan’s grandfather, look at his grandson, & said teasingly, “even if you have my blessing you need to still observe the common etiquettes of decent behavior.” embarrass by his grandfather’s chiding Dan, quickly release donut, from his grasp & said “oh, right. I’ll be careful, from now on.” his grandfather, laugh upon seeing his change attitude & said “that’s good to know.” Dan, smile & ask “but what about the rest of the family? Should I formally, make the announcement about our relationship to them as well?” Dan’s grandfather, reassure the young couple that he would take care of that matter & said “I’ll let everyone know that I’ve already approve of this situation so, you two youngster can focus on your blossoming affection.” donut, was so, embarrass by the situation that she didn’t know how to respond. She simply bow & said “I think, I have to go back to my room, now.” before shyly, exiting the study. Dan, bow quickly, to his grandfather, & call after Donut, “hey, wait for me!” Dan’s grandfather, watch the two as they left & said to himself “this was the right, decision Dan, will certainly, fill her life with happiness.”

Chapter 23: bridal fitting

True to his words Dan’s grandfather, assemble the rest of the family member to inform them of Dan & donut’s relationship. Seeing that her husband had already approved Dan’s grandmother didn’t raise any objection to the situation. However, Dan’s parent expresses their concern over the fact that the children were still too, young to be entering into a relationship. Furthermore, they thought that the children ought to be focus on their study during, this juncture of their lives. Dan’s grandfather, reassure the couple that the relationship could only help to improve Dan’s study. He ask his son, whether he had notice that Dan’s test score had greatly, improve over the last, couple of month. Dan’s father, answer that he had seen a great deal of improvement in both, Dan’s score as well as his attitude towards his academic endeavors. Dan’s grandfather asserted that these improvements were a direct result of donut’s positive influence over him to which he was readily, agree. Dan’s grandfather, emphasize that while donut’s family lineage wasn’t optimal their family should only judge her base on her merits. He stated that donut, had already earn his utmost love & respect with her pleasant disposition, drive & determination despite, her difficult childhood. Since Dan’s grandfather, had appeased their concern over the situation his parent begins to warm to the idea of the children being together. They conceded that they too, had already developed a great deal of affection for, donut. That night, at dinner all eye were squarely, focus on the interaction between the new couple which cause donut, to become extremely, self-conscious & Dan, to become extremely, elated. Dan was relieve to see that his family was taking the news of their relationship so, well & attributed everything to donut’s ability to make those around her love her so, much. However, his relief quickly, turns to mortification when he heard his father, say “even though, everyone approve of your relationship with donut, we expect that you behave in the most gentlemanly, manner. if you two are alone together in any room you’ll need to be sure, to leave the door WIDE open.” donut, look over at Dan, & saw that he had bury his face inside his left palm while he shook his head from side to side. Not being as astute as Dan, donut fail to realize the insinuation of his father’s word & sat confuse. The rest of the adult at the table laugh to see the children’s varied expression but were mindful of the impact that their relationship would have on every member of the family. Donut, was relieve that she would be spare any further, scrutiny the next morning, since she & Dan, usually didn’t eat breakfast with the family on school day. on their way to school in the family car Dan, inform donut, concisely “I’m going to tell those guys, at school that your my girlfriend, today.” donut, was surprise by his statement & ask “why do you have to do that?” he look at her incredulously, & answer “so, they’ll stop trying to paw at you all day, long.” donut, saw the agitated expression on his face & ask “who’s pawing at me all day, long?” frustrated by her inability to see what he consider to be inappropriate, advance towards her, Dan gruffly said “you don’t need to ask too, many question. I’m going to do what I want because, I want to do it.” donut, shrugged & couldn’t see the harm in him informing their friends of their relationship. Considering the situation a little longer she said “Dan, I want to tell p’beam, about us, myself.” turning quickly, to face her, Dan asks “& why do you have to make such a special exception for him?” Dan, had long figure out beam’s true feelings for donut, & had been concern over the matter for quite some time, now. Unaware of where Dan’s concern was coming from donut, reply “because, he’s my best friend so, I want to tell him, personally. What’s wrong that?” Dan, consider her word & knew it would be best if the news came from her but was still uneasy, about how beam, might react. Realizing that he hadn’t answer her question Dan, quickly reply “fine, you go ahead & tell him. it’s not a big deal if you tell him instead, of me.” donut, smile sweetly, at him & said “I hope, everyone isn’t too, shock about his.” with a slight smirk Dan, reply “I hope, they’re.” when they arrive at school donut, saw that beam, was approaching her & quickly, walk past Dan, to greet him. Dan was annoy by her action but decided against saying anything. he watch as the two friend walk off together towards the east lawn & made his own way to meet his group of friends. Since they were alone donut, inform beam, that she had something to discuss with him regarding, Dan. Before she could break the news beam, said “you don’t need to tell me. I already know that you two are together.” stun by his admission donut, ask “how did, you know? Did he say something to you?” beam, gave a weak smile & reply “we’ve been best friends since we were children. I can confidently, say that there’s nothing that I don’t know, about you. At the party I already notice the difference in the way you look at him.” donut, was taken aback by his statement & reply “I’m sorry, for not saying anything to you about it at the party. we weren’t sure, how his family was going to take the news so, we didn’t want to tell anyone.” looking at her, beam said “since you’re telling me now, I guess, his family is ok, with everything?” donut, nodded her head happily, indicating that he was correct & notice that he didn’t appear to be please, with the news. She had hoped he would express his approval of the relationship since his opinion was very important to her. Seeing the dejected expression on her face beam, force a smile & said “I’m very happy for you. I think, you two make a very nice couple.” happy to have receive his approval donut, hug him tightly, & thank, him for his sentiments. With donut, in his arm he hugs her tighter & thought to himself ‘even if I can’t have you. You’ll always have me.’ the news of Dan & donut’s relationship came as a surprise to most of their friends. This quickly, became the main topic of discussion when everyone had gathered for lunch. several of the guys, had express that donut’s relationship with Dan, was like that of beauty & the beast, while other comment on how it felt more like donut, was doing charity work by being his, girlfriend. Dan was extremely, annoy by his friends constant belittlement of himself in front of donut, & wonder if she thought any less of him given these assessments. He was further, displease when aa, tease “donut, must like the underdog since she’s willing to give her heart to the most unworthy, one in our group.” before Dan, could respond to aa’s taunt donut, boldly reply “he’s not like you guys, are saying. He’s very worthy, of my affection & I think, he’ll be a very good, boyfriend.” all of their friends were left in awe by her statement & admit utter & complete defeat. Dan, could do nothing, but smile widely, at her statement & take hold of her hand. Donut, found that the prediction within her statement were extremely, accurate. Over the next six year, Dan had proved himself to be a very good, boyfriend. While she stood up on stage at the podium giving her valedictorian speech to an auditorium full of university faculty & her peer donut, could only focus her eyes on Dan’s bright smile as he sat below in his graduation gown. She could see the mix expression of love & pride overtake his face as he watch & listen to her speech. When the commencement ceremony had concluded donut, met Dan, in the large courtyard & the two made their way over to his family. Dan’s grandfather, father & mother, beam with pride as they saw Dan & donut, in their graduation gown & congratulate them on their great achievement. Dan’s grandfather, warmly hug the two & said “if your grandmother, was still with us she would be very proud of you two.” Dan & donut, were sadden by the mention of the elder Mrs. danuwong, recalling that she had only pass away a few month, prior to this date. Dan’s grandfather, saw a tear fall from donut’s eyes at the mention of his wife, & quickly, said “this is a happy day. I didn’t mention her to make you sad. I just want you both to know that she was always proud of you.” donut, wipe away her tear & hug Dan’s grandfather, tightly trying to comfort him as best as she could. Dan’s father, change the subject by saying “since you two have now, graduate I’ll be expecting you to start work for the company sooner rather than, later.” Dan nodded his head & reply “I know you would. Were both excited to get to work as well.” Dan’s grandfather, comment “now, that we have two certified architectural engineer in our family DP unlimited will only become more successful.” Dan, look at his watch & said to his family “we’ll meet you for dinner later, tonight at the restaurant. It’s getting late so, we'll need to get going now, to do the wedding fitting.” with that the family parted way so, that Dan & donut, wouldn’t miss their fitting appointment at the bridal shop. On the way, to the bridal shop donut, receive a call from beam, who apologizes for not making it to her graduation ceremony. He informs her that he would be back in time, for the wedding & would present her with her graduation gift at that time. She thanks, him for thinking of her & asks what the gift was. Beam; simply respond that she would see on the night of the wedding. When they finally, made it to the bridal shop they were greeted by several employee who usher them to the fitting area. Upon reaching the fitting room Dan, was greeted by AA, who complain “you’re finally, here. Do you know how long I’ve been waiting for you two? you know, we can’t get started until you two are here.” Dan, saw the exasperation on his friend’s face & reply “well, were here now, so stop complaining.” donut, laugh to see aa’s concern expression & said “your really, worry about your wedding, aren’t you?” to which Dan, add teasingly, “who would’ve thought that you would be the first, to get marry out of all of us.” aa, smile & reply “just because, I was always popular with the girls, doesn’t mean I never intend to settle down.” when he finish his statement he heard a familiar voice ask “just how popular were you with all of these, girls?” aa, quickly turn his attention to the person speaking & reply “girls, who said anything about, girls?” he then proceed to grab his bride to be for a hug & kiss. his blushing bride simply roll her eyes breaking free from his grasp before heading over to donut, to take her by the hand. As she did this she said “donut, let’s go. You have to hurry so, you can get fit for the maid of honor dress.” donut, smile at her friend & reply “ok, achara. Let’s go, I know, how long you’ve waited for this day.” achara, gave donut, a slight nudge & said “stop making fun of me. One day, this is going to be you & then you’ll know how it feels.” donut, look bashfully, towards Dan, as achara, finish her statement & saw a wide grin on his face which cause her to blush. Achara, proceed to usher donut, towards the main fitting room leaving the two men, alone. Dan’s fitting for the best man’s suit didn’t take long. He stood by the large mirror looking over his cufflinks as he waited for the rest of the group to appear. He thought that AA’s choice in the best man/groomsmen, outfit was very well suited to his typically, stylish taste. He looks at his watch & wonders how much longer donut & achara would be. He soon found that AA was exiting the dressing room wearing a sterling-silver cuff link, a black bow tie & a satin cummerbund suit & said “you look good.” aa, reply “of course, I do.” Dan, shook his head at his conceit friend & said “you’re lucky achara, agree to marry such a pompous person like you.” aa, didn’t respond to the comment & simply said “the girls, are almost done they should be coming out soon.” right after AA, had finish his statement Dan, watch stun as donut & achara, exit the dressing room. Donut was helping with the train of Achara’s wedding dress & smile upon seeing Dan, staring at her. Dan, couldn’t believe how beautiful donut, was in her long light purple empire-waist a-line with halter neckline. Chiffon, satin maid of honor dress. He wonders, to himself ‘if she’s this gorgeous wearing a maid of honor gown how beautiful will she be when we get marry?’ AA saw Dan’s expression & chided “hey, stop staring at your girlfriend, & pay attention to the bride & groom, here.” Dan, quickly respond “yes, Mr. groom. What can this best man, do to assist you?” the girls, laugh at the exchange between the two guy, & proceed to pick out accessory & bouquet that would be best for the big day.
