*OK, hi, i'm so sorry, i'm back. you know how you say to go to compression in virtual dub and select lame mpeg? i've extracted lame onto my comp with the winrar thing that you gave me, and it still doesn't show up in the compression section of audio. what should i do?

I went to the link you gave where I can download the Xvid converter, lame...etc..when I click the links, it states wrong web address...
Can you please give me the link or even what version to download for each. I get totally overwhelmed cuz there are so many...

Thookatha...not sure if you figured this out...but I just did...!! So Happy!
You have to go into the Lame folder...and find the file that says...LameACM..open that up...3rd lines states: Usage : right-click on this file and choose "Install" in the pop up menu
Do as it says..then it will ask you to insert disk...which you don't have one...click okay then browse to where your Lame file is...then click okay..it should automatically install then...
Sorry my directions aren't as great as Darvils...but it should work.

thank you, tina...no, i didnt figure that out. so i'm just suppose to right click on LameACM and install right? i did that and a thing popped up saying that this software does not pass the windows logo testing. it also says that installing this might impair or destabalize my system...among other things mentioned. is that ignorable? or can i just continue? darvil, tina...anyone? help please.tina said:

but one more question though...per se, i converted the files with virtual dub and everything...you know, followed the terms of using "500 bitrate" and "48000 Hz, 128 kbps CBR stereo" and everything...do i always have to use those numbers or is it possible to reduce the MB even more by picking other bitrates and stuff?
cuz after picking those things, i was only able to reduce about 600 MB to 300 MB. that would still take forever for someone to download...if i were to upload it for them.
i'm sorry...i know you said to test out the bitrate thing, but i don't know how to do that, that's why i ask.

Now if you look at the audio you will see 16k beside it. Thats how much space its taking every second I believe. So find a smaller # and try it. The sound might come out weird for some of them so you will have to experiment.
