Honestly, I don't really care for a full full Thai n’ek in here at all, I think I pick compatibility over dull looking full Thai girls. I don’t think the role should be limited to just 100% Thai, cuz then they’ll literally have to recruit Pooklook and most of ch7 girls hahahahaha. Yaya can look very Thai as long as she doesn’t wear those circle lenses. I’m kind of partial with everyone else, I prefer compatibility and good looks over “full” Thai when it comes to physicality. But yes— additional acting is necessary.

Even Mai’s looks I approve in here, but it would be hard for her to match anyone including Mark, cuz she looks like she’s older and I don’t like girls that are OLD/OLDER than their p’ek.

But the story/love is between a proud Thai woman and Japanese man. Both are representing their country. Meaning the celebs chosen has to look as much like that. Unless they change the story. They will ruin this classic though if that’s the case. Even Toey might pass looking more Hideko than Yaya. And yes I’m all for the talents too. But, the story is important for me also. :thumbup:

I also agree Mai Davika looks old for her age kind of like Kim. Except Kim looks even older than Mai. @xodxo

True but just cuz they’re halfies doesn’t mean they’re not Thai or proud to be Thai. Almost all halfies are Thai nationalists.

A halfie can be fighting for her country too. Most halfies live/grow up in Thailand, they’re just as much a Thai person as any other Thai.

I think for the sake of acting, entertainment and ch3 limited choices.. I’m open to all, full or halfies, just be pretty please. Lol.

I think I’m even open to Namtarn. She’s pretty to me and I would def prefer her over Prang. I just don’t see Prang fitting for this role.

I just thought for the sake of the story and since it was set back then that maybe if they follow the story that’s all. But yes I agree that anything is possible today. And changes can be made any time. You also help me see other options. But if I have to pick between Prang or Namtarn I would say Prang. ;)

Exactly, this lakorn is a classic so they have to do it right. They can't change the story either but if they do, Act Art will be slaughter by the fans of the novel. Plus this was during WW2, Thais were Thais at the time. The only mixes were thai chinese. The generation of western or japanese mixes came about due to foreign invasions. Actually in part 2 of Koo Gum, their son faced a lot of racism because he was a halfie. Act Art always pride themselves with being so Pro and Proud Thai so it wouldn't make sense if they cast a western mixed nangek. But then again Act Art is unpredictable sometime.

Anyways I do agree that Yaya looks more Thai than Kim cus she's more tan. I'm just not a fan of her closeup, she looks pretty far away plus she's annoying playing the stubborn character.

You know what it might not matter much on whether the nangek looks Thai or not cus Benz was bashed when she was cast as Aungsumalin, saying she doesn't fit the part. She was like uh thai girls from the countryside that played in the river as a child looks exactly like her, dark. Lol

She is, many of her characters aren’t likable. Very very few shows empathy.

LMFAOOOOOO exactly! I was going to say Benz was criticized and dissed for being too Thai, dark or just not worthy for the role when she’s the ultimate Thai girl.

Plus Benz/Num already butchered the remake. Many of you complained about Bie/Noonie for just not able to watch them lol.. so realistically ActArt couldn’t be any worse if they decided to to bring in halfies.

I swear, I’m all about attractive people and yes, good to decent acting with lots of chemistry. Let’s say if they only picked the people just to suit the physicality but lacks chemistry and appeals like previous remakes, it would just be a waste of time.

I just want them to stick to the novel but do it right. Cast someone who will make the lakorn and the characters shine not hope to have the classic make them shine. Good acting is a must not favoritism. Save that for another lakorn, there's plenty.

The problem with Bie was that he made Kobori foolish, his acting was horrible. Noon's also made Aungsumalin immature vs prideful and stubborn.
