Chapter 17
Parichat arrived at her house and saw her belongings scattered all over the front porch.
“What’s going on here?!” she asked, coming down from the car.
Waan, her housekeeper ran to her, “We tried stopping her but she wouldn’t listen.”
Rada walked outside and saw Parichat, “Oh, you’re here…”
“You have no rights to throw my things outside like this!”
“Of course I do. I live here so it makes me the owner. You don‘t even live here anymore so I did the right thing by throwing your stiff out.”
Parichat walked towards Rada, “Even if I don’t live here anymore, you still can’t just throw my stuff out like this!”
“You’re dad said I can…oh wait, I forgot, he isn’t your dad anymore…”
Parichat looked to her side and found her mom’s picture cracked open from the frame, “Mom….”
Rada laughed softly, “It was getting in the way in the house so I figured I threw it away. She’s dead anyways.”
“That’s it! I had enough of you! You said I don’t live here anymore right?”
“That’s right…”
“Then I don’t have to be considerate of you anymore. All these years I wanted to do something to you but khun Pakorn always came and interrupt…..”
“What? What can a girl like you do to me?”
“Something I wanted to a long time ago!”
Parichat put down her mom’s picture and gave Rada a slap across her face.
“Parichat! How dare you slap me?!”
Parichat slapped her again, “I can do more if you want!”
This time Rada fought back and the two quarreled in the front lawn. The housekeeper tried to stop the two but couldn’t, afraid they might get hit by one of the two.
Khun Pakorn came home and saw his wife and Parichat fighting outside. He got out the car to stop them.
“You two stop it! Now!”
He held back his wife, while Waan held back Parichat.
“What the hell are you doing here?!” he asked her. “You don’t belong here anymore.”
“I know that!” Parichat snapped. “I just came to get my stuff. Do you know what your wife has done?”
“What did she do?”
“She threw my stuff out! She even threw mom’s picture out!”
“That’s because I let her….”
Parichat heart sunk, “I know I’m not your daughter but you have that much hatred towards me?”
“Yeah….because you have brought bad reputation to this family! You made me embarrass in front of my friends and workers!”
“But the only reason why I did those things were to get your attention even though it’ll make the family look bad. All I wanted from you was for you to pay attention to me! Growing up, all you cared was Rada! Rada this, Rada that! “
“How can I love you like my own daughter?! Every time I look at your face, it reminds me of your mother and how it betrayed me!”
“So you had to put it out on me?! I’m pretty sure what mom did to you was an accident. She didn’t mean to hurt you…”
“But she did! And I will never forgive her for that! Get your stuff and get out of my house or I’ll call the police to arrest you for trespassing!”
Khun Pakorn took Rada back into the house to comfort her and left Parichat outside to pick up her belongings. Waan was there to help her.
“Why does khun Pakorn have to be so cruel?” complained Waan. “Khun noo, where are you going to be staying at?”
“Don’t worry about me. I have a place to stay already.”
“Can I come live with you? I don’t want to stay at this house anymore. I don’t wanna live with mean people.”
“You stay here Waan. Take care of dad…..I mean…take care of khun Pakorn for me.”
“But---”
“No buts….look, I appreciate everything you’ve done for me. You’re a good person. You’re like a second mom to me and I love you for that.”
Waan gave Parichat a hug, “I love you like a daughter of my own too. I’ll miss you….”
“I’ll miss you too…….take care okay?”
“You too…and if you need anything, just give me a call okay?”
“Okay….”
-------------------------------
Araya came out of the shower that evening and found Nawin laying on their bed, smiling at her.
“What are you smiling about?”
“It is the night of our wedding…why don’t you hop onto the bed and let’s get freaky…”
Araya threw the towel at his face, “Pervert!”
“What? That’s what every newly wed do.”
Araya ignored him and grabbed her pillow and blanket and set it on the couch.
“What are you doing?” he asked, getting up. “Don’t tell me you’re gonna make me sleep on that uncomfortable couch?”
“I’m not telling you to sleep here. I’m gonna sleep here.”
“You sure? The couch is kind of hard. You might hurt your back, and what about the baby?”
“Then you come sleep here then if you’re worried about the baby because there’s no way I’m sleeping on the same bed with you.”
“But we’re married already. Nobody’s not gonna say anything.”
“So….you better choose, either you sleep here on the couch or I will.”
“Okay, fine. I’ll sleep on that dumb couch. But I’m only doing this for the baby, just to let you know!”
“Then get your ass over here then.”
Nawin grabbed his pillow and blanket and placed it on the couch, while Araya hopped on the bed.
“Ahhh, the bed is so comfortable…” she teased.
“Shut up….”
Araya laughed to herself as she falls asleep, while Nawin was still trying to get comfortable.
-----------------------------------
Araya woke up the next morning and found Nawin sleeping next to her on the bed. She quickly sat up, “AHHHHH!”
Nawin quickly got up, worried something bad had happen to Araya, “WHAT? Are you about to give birth? Did your water drop?”
Araya slapped him for his stupidity, “Dumbass! It hasn’t even been nine months yet!”
“Then why did you scream so loud?”
“What are you doing here? You’re suppose to be sleeping over there…”
Nawin yawned, “Well the couch was uncomfortable. I couldn’t sleep there. Just please let me sleep here. I promise I won’t do anything to you.”
“No! If not the couch, then the floor is the only option…”
“The floor?! That’s worst than the couch!”
Araya smiled, “Then baby, you gonna have to sleep on the couch then.”
Nawin pouted, “Why did I ever agree to marry you.”
“You could divorce me?”
“No way! If I divorce you, I don’t get my will!”
“Then I guess you’re gonna be stuck with me and that so uncomfortable couch over there….”
“Hmph….I can live with that….but since we’re married now, go make me some breakfast.”
“You have hands, go make it yourself.”
“Na-uh. Did you forget about our deal?”
“What deal?”
“That after we get married, you agreed to be a good wife to me…remember baby?”
Araya clenched her teeth, “Of course. What do you want for breakfast?”
Nawin thought for a moment, “Um…I want ham and cheese, toast, scrambled eggs, and a cup of orange juice.”
“Anything else?”
“That’ll be it. Thanks babe…”
Araya clenched her teeth again, “You’re welcome babe….”
Parichat arrived at her house and saw her belongings scattered all over the front porch.
