No, it's just in the opening .. i'm assuming, he's back to his old self but his nightmare keeps coming back to haunt him -- the revengeful man.
the scene probably have him, debating over his plan revenge on anne, contradicting his thoughts --- that's why, he's seeing his revengeful self.
