I was a mess after I watched the episode live yesterday.....and I still cried after watching it again with subs. This episode was an emotional roller coaster....but so satisfying.....if that makes any sense....
The romance in this show is mostly limited to looks and swoony sniffs....lol....a bit of touching(although seems more progress in upcoming episode
) but its still leaves you breathless....every scene of Date and Kade flirting leaves me a bit flushed and a big smile on my face. I'm soooo excited about today...Date is already saying naughty stuff in the previews....so it seems these two will finally go beyond sniffing and blushing.
One thing I wanted to write about since the start of the show was use of the name Krshna-Kali. I had read very different spellings of the mantra name so was not sure but I was right and the pronunciation did sound like Krshna-Kali....So I'll share with you guys where the name comes from.
It's actually not one but two names joined together.....The two are names of very powerful God and Goddess in Hindu mythology...Lord Krshna is the God of Peace, Compassion, Love, Righteousness and Goddess Kali is called the destroyer of evil, She is also called mother of the universe as She has the power to create and destroy.......She was/is worshiped by warrior clans who pray to her before going to war...These two deities have only one thing in common....Their names have a similar meaning...somewhat.....The Dark One/Black One. Maybe that's why the writer chose this name...who knows....
I also know now why Date was dressed in Hindu priest outfit....it was coz they were invoking a Hindu High God Shiva during the ritual. The Ling (Idol representation), the conch, the small drum (called dumroo) clothes, the rudraksha necklaces and armlets are all associated with Lord Shiva husband/consort to Goddess Kali.....It is said that when Goddess Kali looses her temper she can destroy the world and the only one who can placate her is Lord Shiva.
I did find two things that bothered me.....I think they needed to do a bit more research on that ritual scene as it was an important scene....and you can easily find stuff about this on google...so it wouldn't have taken much effort.
First... Date put in the offerings in the consecrating fire with his left hand
...VERY BIG no no...another....after that Date went and sat with his back to the havan kund....the consecrating fire.
....You NEVER, EVER sit with your back to the consecrating fire...its a sacred fire and you are putting offerings in it to appease the God...you need to sit facing it....or beside it....Even if date was not putting the offerings after the first time he still needed to sit beside it and continue worshiping the idol placed in the front without putting his back to the fire. Usually the fire is placed in the center of the room so that everyone can sit around it ...facing the fire....you can also put it at the front of the room...and everyone can still face it.
Even though I was disappointed by these oversights, I still liked the overall effect of the scene.....and one small thing I noticed and appreciated very much was that Date's dad handled the mantra book correctly....placed between his thumb and fore finger...without pinching it.....touched it to the forehead before handing it over.
