Ummm... personally, I think Sony is the best.. That was my first laptop.. it worked really good!! (until I spilled coke all over it <_< ) lol

HP is good also.. I have HP right now and I think it's pretty good, it's about as good as Sony. (Sony is more expensive though.. that's why my mom only bought me HP this time and not Sony. She even bought guaratee! )

so yeahh... I hope that helped!! :D

all the big companies are decent.. sony, dell, HP etc..

just make sure you have restore disks with you if you buy.. and don't be too cheap.

If you have a good amount of doe to spend, I would highly recommend the macbook pro. I have one and I love it. If you want a good deal, then I'd go for a Dell. I had a Dell before too. They're pretty reliable. But then a drunken experience broke my old Dell....

lol cute thread... well it wasn't meant to be cute but the responses lol

well i have 2 vaio's, i loved the first one to death and literally lmfao... i broke every single thing u can imagine on that thing and it's still working properly, it's currently connected to my tv using video out because the screen's lamp on my notebook burnt out. so i just use it to watch lakorns from the internet onto my tv now, but i can still use it for other things like going to the net and every other thing but just needa view via tv screen rather than the laptop screen.

and as for my second one, i like it but not as much as my first because i didn't do such great research and my friend lied to me that he was gonna hook me up with major discounts and i needed one ASAP because of school so i bought it. so i bought the vgn-fs550, it's okay, but it doesn't have things like the first one i bought but i mean certain things u don't need anymore like floppy, parallel ports, but the one i want most is the video out function and this didn't have it, so it was err. but other than that, it's a good computer, nice looking and can be used for almost anything...

but seriously to save money, i'd rather go with a cheap dell or hp to come with the same specs because you don't get much with a sony, they have no manuals, no cds, no programs, and word/norton expires in like 6 months. u should rather save money and spend on a cheaper brand and get all those programs online! yeah illegal baby that's the way to go hahah unless u are anti-illegal software lol.

but if u like how it looks rather than the specs, man they have a pretty toshiba and sony out there but pricey... well that's my advice. hope that helps.

ok..i'm taking notes on this..my first time!! hehe..

(for some reason i'm really trusting natty..)

btw..for the brands that everyone named, don't they have like different models or something (sorry, i'm stupid about comps/laptops)?..can you give me the brand and model..or just any model of the brand is good?

it'll help if you guys can post pics of your laptops or one on internets that you want..and prices too..i'm only willing to spend like somewhere around $1000..is that enough? (EDIT: ok..i just checked online..and $1000 is definitely not enough.., new limit..$3000..?..)

and!..yes..i'm asking too much..but for those who have a laptop, what do you guys MOSTLY use it for?

btw..thx for ALL the replies..although some may be a little irrelevant..advertising chat..*cough*..Tim..*cough*.. :D lol..kidding..

keep the recommendations coming!! please!!

i've had 2 sony vaios...
the first one was soo cool. kinda pricy, $2300. it had the a really big screen. i got it in the 8th grade but it didnt last a year. the system board just decided to fail. it would cost $899 to replace so i got another vaio.
i switched over to a powerbook the beginning of junior year. i love it so much. i was a little skeptical bc i never liked apple but it's awesome and tiny and pretty cheap, $1500.
