Prologue.
His face was filled with smiles as he held the right tightly in his hand. His heart was filled with joy as he continued driving towards his destination. Everything felt too good to be true. If he were to talk directly to a character from a fairytale he would be able to say that his happy ending was better. As he recalled his fondest memory of his love his phone began to sing a tune.
“Hello, Pattapee speaking.” Din answered.
“Hello, Khun Pattapee I am an officer from the local police station. I am sorry to have to tell you this over the phone, but there was a couple that was in an accident and we believe that the couple is Khun Montri and Khun Supansa Adisuan. We would like you to… to come and identify the bodies.” The voice on the other end said.

“Excuse me? Is this some kind of joke? If it is it isn’t funny.” Din responded pulling over to the side of the road. Din felt as if his world was sucked into a vortex of darkness as the person continued to give him instructions on what he needs to do. Without any hesitation Din quickly turned his car around and headed towards the hospital. While driving towards the hospital Din continued to dial and dial Kimberly’s number.
Kimberly sat and watched as Din’s number appears on her phone repeatedly. She rose from the table, put her sunglasses on, took a deep breath, and walked out of the restaurant.
“Din, I’m sorry.” Kimberly mumbled as she walked away from the restaurant that she and Din had their first date.

Lanna Hospital

Din walked into the hospital with his head feeling as light as a balloon. He took a deep breath and attempted to open the doors, but before he could set foot into the mortuary he was stopped by a voice behind him.
“Din, wait. I’ll go in with you.” Mark said stopping Din. Din turned around to see his brother standing there and Pong following right behind. The three looked at one another before hesitantly entering the mortuary. As they piled into the cold and eerie room their hearts slowly sank to the bottom of their chests when they recognized the couple on the autopsy table. A medical examiner greeted them and informed them that their parent’s death was not painful. As Din painfully scanned his parent’s face for the final time he recognize the man on the table beside his father.

“Uncle Michael?” Din muttered.
“Do you know this man also? He was in the car with your parents at the time of their crash.” The medical examiner asked as soon as he heard Din mention Michaeal’s name.
“Yeah, he’s our Uncle. Our father’s older brother.” Din responded.
“Do you know if there is anyone we should inform of his passing?” The Medical Examiner proceeded to ask.
“I… I’ll take care of that.” Din responded.
“Usually that is something the hospital has to do, but since you’re a close relative we’ll allow it.” The Medical Examiner said taking off his face mask. “I’ll give you guys a few more moments with them.” The Medical Examiner added before leaving the mortuary.

Chapter 1: Saying Goodbye.
Din greeted guests as they arrived to the temple. Din was devastated by the death of his parents and uncle, but equally weighing down his head was Kimberly. He couldn't help but scan each guest that arrived carefully hoping that one of them would be Kimberly.
"Hey Din, why do you keep looking towards the parking area? Are you waiting for someone?" Mark asked curious.
"I'm hoping Kimberly would show up."
"Kimberly? The girl you were going to propose to?"
"Yeah."
"You know, this is probably not the best time to ask, but how come you've never brought her home?"
"I wanted to be sure."
"You were going to propose to this girl, how much more sure did you need to be?" Pong asked joining his older brothers.
"Let's just say that we got to know each other in a very short period of time. A short period of time I wasn't really sure about until one day. I woke up just knowing she is the one." Din responded.
"Woke up knowing?" Mark retaliated curiously.
"I regret never introducing her to mom and dad. Now she'll never get to meet the two people who meant most to me aside you guys." Din sighed. Mark and Pong both put a hand on their brother's shoulders to offer their condolences. The three continued to greet guests.
"P' Din, P'Mark, P'Pong. Sawatdee Krup." Someone said approaching the three from the side. They turned to see their youngest brother standing there with a long face.
"Saichon." The three said before jumping in to give their brother a hug. "Where have you been? We've been searching for you for months. Mom and Dad asked for you every day."
"I was sailing along the islands. I.... I… can't believe that the last time I left the house would be the last time I saw mom and dad." Saichon responded with watery eyes. "I am such a terrible son. I don't even deserve to be at their funeral."
"Don't say that Saichon. Mom and Dad loved you. Even if Dad was a little hard on you he always meant well for you." Din said putting his hands on his brother's shoulder.
"Saichon, none of us blames you for leaving. We know that you had your own desires and dreams. Dad came to realize that too and that is why he had us search for you." Mark said attempting to comfort his brother. Saichon managed to smile through his watery eyes and open his arms up to hug his brothers.
"Room for one more?" A voice said from behind them. Saichon looked up as Din, Mark, and Pong turned around to face the person behind them.
"Saichon?" Mark mumbled.
"Charles." Din said.
"Welcome back to Thailand." Pong said putting a hand on Charles's shoulder.
"Kind of strange that the day I am reunited with my family is at my parent's funeral." Charles said with a grim face.
"We have plenty of time to talk. It's good having you two home Charles, Saichon. Right now we need to greet the guests and pay our final respects to mom, dad, and uncle." Din said turning to face the temple's entrance again.

Chapter 2: Necessary.

“Until you are broken, you don’t know what you’re made of” – Melissa Molomo

Kimberly watched as her phone continued to ring and ring. Every time blue light illuminated her phone she wanted with all her heart to reach over and answer it just to hear his voice. She took a deep breath when the phone finally stopped ringing.
“I’m sorry Din. I’m really sorry.” She said as she turned off her phone.

Modern Style Living Condominiums

Din continued to dial Kimberly’s number as he walked into the lobby of her condominium. Every time he was sent to her voicemail he became more worried. In the elevator ride up to her room he still persistently dialed her number.
“Come on Kim, where are you?” Din mumbled. When he reached her floor he quickly walked towards her room and knocked on the door. The louder her knocked the louder the silent responses he got felt.
“Kim! Are you in there?! If you are please answer. Please open the door for me. I’m sorry. Kim?! Are you ok? Even if you don’t want to talk to me please answer and let me know you’re safe. Don’t scare me like this please.” Din pleaded as he continued to bang on the door. Din stood there knocking until he became emotionally exhausted. His head hung low as he walked away feeling defeated. When the elevator reached the lobby Din approached the security to get any news on Kimberly he could find.
“Excuse me sir, but have you seen Ms. Voltemas of room 215 today?” Din asked concerned.
“Khun Kimberly?” The security questioned in response.
“Ye..Yes. Khun Kimberly.” Din answered with hope.
“She sold her Condo 2 weeks ago.” The security responded.
“Sold?!” Din yelled shocked.
“Yeah, she said she is going to move back to her parent’s house.” The security replied.
“Do you know where that is?” Din asked terrified.
“No. I’m sorry sir.” The security responded.
“Thank you.” Din said turning away. He pulled his phone out of his pocket one more time and began dialing Kimberly’s number. He stood nervous as he hoped that she would pick up. His eyes quickly widened as he heard the ringing stop and a breath at the other end.
“K…Ki..Kim…Kimberly. Please don’t hang up. Please talk to me. Please let me explain.”
“Din.. I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be, I’m sorry. I’m sorry for leaving you that day, but I couldn’t… I couldn’t think of anything else.”
“Din, I understand. Din, I’m sorry. I’m not mad at you about that day, but, but I just couldn’t face you anymore. I couldn’t face you knowing that you’re going through a tough time. I couldn’t face you knowing that you loved me, but I…”
“but what?”
“But.. I didn’t feel the same way. Din, let’s end it.” Kimberly said trying to keep her voice strong and
“Kim, what are you saying? Wh..what’s wrong? Did I do something wrong? Please tell me what I did wrong so I can fix it. I’m sorry Kim, please don’t leave me. Kim, I can’t. I can’t go on knowing that you’re not ..”
“Din, I know you. You’ll do just fine without me. Remember that you have your brothers to live for. Din, please don’t waste your time with someone who doesn’t love you as much as you love them. I’m sorry. I wish I realized sooner that my feelings for you were nothing more than they are for friends.”
“I … I don’t believe you.”
“Din, I wouldn’t say something I don’t mean.”
“Ok, I’ll let you go if you can say these things to my face. Come and see me. If you can look into my eyes and tell me that you don’t love me I’ll leave you alone.”
“Din, please don’t be this way. Don’t be selfish. Let me be happy. Let go of me.”
“I… I honestly don’t know what to say.”
“Don’t say anything. Just tell me that you understand.”
“I can’t do that Kim. If I did that I would be lying to you. I don’t understand why you are doing this to me.”
“Din, one day you’ll find someone who is more suitable to your life. You will find someone who is willing to be the woman you want them to be, but I am not that woman. Goodbye Pattapee.” Kimberly said hanging up without giving Din a chance to say anything else. She quickly fell back on her bed and placed her hands over her face as tears rushed from her eyes. Din stood motionless and unable to say anything else. He felt as if he was living the most real nightmare he has ever had. Before he could gather his thoughts and make his next step darkness covered his eyes as he fell to the floor.

Lanna Hospital

Din slowly opened his eyes as his head continued to pound in pain. The first person he noticed by his side was his brother Mark.
“Mark. Where am I? Did I die?” Din asked confused.
“No, you just passed out in front of some Condiminium.” Mark responded helping Din shove a pillow behind his back as he struggled to sit up.
“P’ Din are you ok?” Saichon asked concerned for his brother.
“Yeah, I’m fine. I just blacked out for a bit.”
“Maybe you should get an x-ray or cat scan. Healthy men don’t just black out for no reason.” Pong suggested.
“I agree. Maybe you’re sick or something.” Charles agreed.
“No, really I’m fine. I’m just a little stressed out.” Din said attempting to assure his brothers he was ok.
“Maybe you should take a vacation from work.” Pong suggested.
“No, I can’t do that. With Mom, Dad, and Uncle gone the company is under pressure to maintain stability and order. How can I take a vacation at this time? The shareholders don’t have confidence in me right now because I’m still young.”
“Don’t worry, we’ll take care of it.” Mark said attempting to take the burden off his brother.
“Hah, really? You guys want me to trust you with the empire? You mind as well start finding a monkey to replace me.” Din insulted.
“I think he’s ok now, If he has the energy to insult us like that.” Saichon said taking a seat at a couch beside the door.
“Look, I’m fine ok. I was a little tired earlier. I hadn’t had much sleep lately you guys know that. I also skipped breakfast. I’m fine.” Din reiterated. Just as Din finished his sentence the doctor entered the room with a nurse trailing behind.

“Ah, I see you’re awake Khun Pattapee.”
“Yeah, I’m fine now doc. Can I go home?”
“Not quite, we ran some tests on you and we’re going to have to keep you overnight. There are a few things I need to discuss with you.”
“Oh Buddha is my brother going to die?” Mark asked afraid.
“He can’t die doc. Please say it’s curable.” Pong added.
“Please save our brother!” Saichon and Charles shouted in sync.
“Look, I can’t cure your brother.”
“Oh no, he’s going to die. What disease is it doc?”
“Calm down gentlemen.” The doctor said holding up his hand to stop any of them from speaking. “Your brother isn’t going to die. Well at least not in the next 70 years. He is as healthy as an Oxen. What I meant by I can’t cure him is, I can’t cure him if he has no disease.”
“But you said you ran tests and you need to keep him overnight.” Mark replied.
“Yes, correct. The reason I said that is because your brother suffered what we call an acute panic attack. He is going through too much stress. Too much stress for an average body to be able to handle. We want to let him rest here in the hospital overnight and send him home tomorrow. Also, I want to recommend that you don’t do any work for at least a month Khun Pattapee.”
“Oh so he isn’t dying?” Pong asked to be sure.
“Ok, now I know I need to write 4 brothers out of my will.” Din said pressing his back against his pillow.
“Khun Pattapee, it is cruicial that you try not to stress yourself out this next month. Even though you are healthy you have exhausted many resources in your body. “
“I’ll be fine doc. I can’t stop working. I am the only person capable of keeping things afloat.”
“P’ Din we’ll be able to handle it.” Mark said getting into his brother’s face.
“No way.” Din said crossing his arms.
“P’ Din, we promise we won’t let you down.” Pong added.
“Ok how about this. There is a big client we have to wheel in for the new snack that mom created a few months before her accident. If any of you guys can give me a good outline by tomorrow evening I will take a month off.” Din said.
“Deal.” Everyone said at the same time.
“Fai, I want you to give me a good concept of your restaurant by the end of the week.” Din said looking at his youngest brother. Fai looked up at his brother with an eyebrow raised. “I know you wanted to open a restaurant because dad told me while we were looking for you. He said that if you ever came back home he would allow you to follow your dreams.” Din added.

As everyone let the hospital that night Din laid in his hospital bed thinking about the last conversation he had with Kimberly. He couldn’t imagine what life would be without her, but as he was thinking of her he remembered how his brothers banded together to save him earlier. Although he loved Kimberly he was willing to let her go if she didn’t love him. Even if he didn’t have Kimberly’s love he had the love of his brothers. At the same time he couldn’t help, but hate her. Hate her for hurting him so deeply.
“From this day forward Pattapee Adisuan will never open his heart to another woman.” Din said closing his eyes.

Chapter 3: Material Girl

“Anything you cannot relinquish when it has outlived its usefulness possesses you, and in this materialistic age a great many of us are possessed by our possessions.” – Peace Pilgrim

Cher Aem walked into the house with a full smile. She managed to purchase so many newly imported clothes, purse, shoes, and jewelry.
“Cher Aem, you are so beautiful. Everything you wear is beautiful.” She said flattering herself.
“Aem.” Mhong called out after seeing Cher Aem walked through the doors.
“Yes father?” Aem responded turning around to face her father.
“The bank called today and said you spent hundreds of thousands baht today.”
“Yeah? What’s the big deal? I do it all the time.” Cher Aem said tossing her bag onto the couch.
“That is the problem, you’re doing it all the time.” Mhong said taking a seat beside his daughter. “Look baby, you’re going to have to cut down on your spending.”
“But, but…”
“Aem, you know that I’ve always given you everything from the day you were born, but you really need to listen to me this time.”
“Daddy… I can’t be outdated on fashion. I have a really important image to hold up.”
“Cher Aem, I am your father. I am asking you to stop spending money for a while. Can you do that for me?”
“I’ll try.”
“Cher Aem. I’m going to lower your credit card limits. From now on you’ll only receive a 150,000 Baht allowance. If you go over you will have to wait until the first of the month until you receive your allowance again.”
“Father.”
“Aem, I am doing this for your own good. How do you expect to function later on in life if I’m not here anymore?”
“Daddy, don’t say that.” Cher Aem said putting her arms around her dad. “Ok, I’ll try to lower my spendings. Please don’t talk like that again daddy.”
“Aem, I don’t want to do this to you, but I have to teach you responsibility.”
“I understand.” Aem said looking at her father.

Upstairs in Cher Aem’s room.

Cher Aem stood in front of the mirror twisting and twirling around in her new dress. She was about to try on another dress when she was disrupted her phone ringing.
“Hello, Cher Aem speaking.” Aem answered continuing to admire herself in the mirror.
“One!” The voice on the other end shouted.
“Two!” Cher Aem shouted taking a seat on her bed. “When did you get back?”
“We just got back last week.”
“We? Three is back also?”
“When can you come see us?”
“How about today?!
“Same place?
“Same place.
“We’ll see you there.”

Coconut Café

The waitress set two cups of coffee and two cups of water on the table before walking away. Fahlada looked up at the waitress with a grateful smile.
“Thank you ka.” She thanked as the waitress
“No problem.” The waitress responded smiling back at Fahlada. “Is there anything else I can help you ladies with?”
“No , we’re fine thank you.” Fahlada and Nang Fah responded in sync.
“Ahem, you two are indeed very fine.” A voice said approaching from behind the two. Fahlada and Nang Fah spent a second looking at one another before turning around.
“One!” The two shouted excited. They immediately jumped up to give Cher Aem a hug.
“Wait, wait. I we need to share some loving.” Cher Aem said turning around.
“Four!” They shouted in excitement.
“I’m a little sad. You two called One, but you didn’t call me?” Bee pouted as she crossed her arms.
“We did call you, but every time we called you all we got was. I’m sorry the number you are trying to dial is no longer in service, please check the number and dial again.” Fahlada said with a frown.
“Oh wait, I changed my number a few days ago because I lost my phone.” Bee said slouching. “But I’m so happy that you two are back.” Bee added hugging Fahlada and Nang Fah. The four took a seat before they caused a bigger scene.
“So how have you guys been? You need to tell us everything.” Nang Fah said with a bright smile.
“When are you two going back?” Bee asked.
“We’re not going back. We may stay here and finish school in Thailand.” Nang Fah replied.
“Really? That’s great! We can go to the same school like we did when we were kids.” Cher Aem said excited.
“I’m not going to school.” Fahlada said looking at Bee and Cher Aem.
“What?” A very confused Bee asked.
“Oh, because two is not like the rest of us. She’s a certified genius. She is done with school. Now she’s going to open her own company.” Nang Fah responded.
“WHAT?!” Cher Aem and Bee replied surprised.
“Yes, you are looking at the future CEO of Mook Montra Creative.” Fahlada said crossing her arm and raising her eyebrows proudly.
“So, does this mean that you’ll hire us?” Bee joked.
“Sure, when you’re finished school.” Fahlada said sticking her tongue out.
“You’re about to be a CEO and you’re still sticking your tongue out? Your company is going to make it.” Cher Aem said taking a sip of the coffee sitting on the table.
“Hey!” Nang Fah shouted.
“What? You act like we’ve never drank from the same cup.” Cher Aem said.
“That’s been there since we got here.” Fahlada whispered.
“What?!” Aem said spitting out every drop she had in her mouth.
“I … was just kidding.” Fahlada said wiping her face with her eyes closed.

The Adisuan Estate
“It feels kind of weird being home and doing nothing.” Din said looking at Charles. “Oh by the way, I looked at all of your proposals and I liked yours the best. I think I’m going to let you take charge of everything while I’m on my vacation.”
“So you’re agreeing to go on vacation?” Charles said with a smirk.
“Well, the doctors say I have too. I don’t want to get sick or anything. I don’t want to have to go back go the hospital. I hate the hospital.” Din responded.
“I don’t know if I should be taking charge of the empire. Shouldn’t it be P’ Mark or P’Pong?” Charles asked.
“Formally it should be since they are older, but I think you have more of a talent for business than they do. Besides, I know they don’t want to do this. In the company’s best interest I think you’d be a better choice. Also, there is something else I will need you to take charge of. A few months from now we’ll be making a very big acquisition of a very large of chain of hotels and resorts.”
“Do you think I am qualified to lead such a big project?”
“If I didn’t think you were qualified I wouldn’t have choosen you.”
“What chain are we acquiring?”
“Have you ever heard of Wongwai Valley?”
“Wongwai Valley? How is that possible? Isn’t that a really large chain of hotels?”
“Yeah, Khun Mhong Wongwai is selling it into the market because business hasn’t been doing so well and he wants to make some profit before things get worst. I saw this is a good opportunity to expand our family’s empire so I made an offer on it.”
“That’s great.”
“It is, I am very proud of this acquisition. It’ll expand our business empire much further than we could both imagine. Now all you have to do is make sure we have the confidence of the current shareholders. I don’t want to seem like we’re taking over, but more like becoming shareholders ourselves. I think I will leave Khun Mhong on the board as a Senior Advisor.”
“Whatever you say bro. I’ll try my best.”
“Good. If only Mark, Pong, and Fai had as much spirit as you did for the empire. I wouldn’t be so tired.” Din said taking a seat.
“They’ll come around. Sometimes people need time to explore themselves.” Charles said in defense of his brothers.
“Let’s hope so.” Din said taking a deep breath.

Chapter 4: Unworthy
"A man sooner or later discovers that he is the master-gardener of his soul, the director of his life." – James Allen

"I don't know how else to say this. I don't know what in the world I could possibly say to justify my actions. I am unworthy of being an Adisuan. One day when I feel that I am worthy enough to look you guys in the face I will come back and pay my respects.
Saichon." Mark read aloud.

"What do we do now?" Pong asked placing his hands over his forehead. He began to pace back and forth. "If P'Din finds out he'll be even more stressed." Pong added chewing on his nails.
"Can't we just go look for him?" Charles asked with a slightly confused look on his face. Pong and Mark looked at each other and took a seat on the opposite ends of the sofa.
"If only it were that easy." Mark said taking a deep breath. "Last time Saichon left the house we didn't see him for years."
"How about this, we tell him that Fai went to look for the perfect area he wants to open his restaurant? I'll hire an investigator to find him." Charles suggested. Mark and Pong looked at one another and nodded in agreement.
"That sounds good, but maybe I should postpone school." Mark said placing his hand on his forehead.
"Why would you do that? Isn't that what you've wanted?" Din asked making his way down the stairwell. Mark, Pong and Charles quickly turned to face the stairwell.
"I uh, I…. I don't want to leave you guys." Mark responded.
"If you don't leave I'm gonna go back to work if it makes you that stressed out." Din said crossing his arm as he reached the bottom of the stairwell.
"No..no. I'll leave as planned." Mark said in a rush.
"Where's Fai?"
"He left this morning to go examine the location for his restaurant. He said something about doing long research. R…ri..right P'Pong?" Charles said looking in Pong's direction.
"I..uh..uh..yeah. I mean, I wasn't really there when they were talking, but he mentioned something about it before." Pong responded scratching his head.
"Are you guys hiding something?" Din asked suspicious.
"N..nuh..no, why would you think that?" Mark asked with a nervous smile.
"Nothing, no reason." Din replied looking at the three. "When are you leaving Mark?"
"Tomorrow morning."
"Charles, Pong, do you guys think you can handle everything while I'm gone? I think I'm gonna go to the beach for a little while." Din said taking a deep breath.
"Yeah, of course." Charles responded.

Talk of the Town Bar – 2 Months Later.

"Come on Kim have just one drink. A toast to the years you've worked with us." Anna pressured.
"Ok, ok." Kimberly said taking a sip of beer. "Only one sip."
"You really shouldn't quit." Anna said taking a sip of her beer.
"I don't want to either, but my parents need my help." Kimberly responded.
"Good luck with everything Kim. It's going to be weird not having you around." Anna said walking away to join the rest of their colleagues. Kimberly smiled as she watched Anna walk away. Kimberly continued to drink from her cup of beer as she watched her colleagues enjoy themselves.
As the sunlight hit her eyes Kim slowly wiped her eyes. She picked the pillow up and covered her head with it.
"It's morning already? How much did I drink last night?" Kimberly moaned. As she was slowly starting to drift back to sleep the sound of an alarm disturbed her. She quickly tossed her to the side attempting to end the sound of torture. The alarm sounded off as her hands landed atop of the snooze button. As she dragged her hands back to her side she started rubbing on the surface beside her out of curiousity.
"Wait a minute. I don't have an alarm clock." Kimberly suddenly realized. Her face was suddenly filled with fear. She slowly removed the pillow from her head, she slowly lifted her head to turn and investigate the space beside her. Her eyes widened as she noticed a complete stranger lying beside her in bed. She quickly scanned the room and realized she was in someone else's bedroom.
"Ahhhhhhhhhhhh!" Kimberly screamed as she sat up in the bed.
"Wh…wh..what is it baby?" Pong said wiping his eyes. "Wait, I came home alone last night." He added sitting up in his bed. He quickly turned to see Kimberly sitting in his bed.
"Who are you? What am I doing here? What did you do to me?!" Kimberly staggered to question.
"Wa…wai..wait! This is my house, I should be asking you what you are doing in my house? What did you do to me?"
"What did I do to you? What could I possibly do to you? I'm the girl. Y…you… you took advantage of me didn't you?" Kimberly said whacking Pong with the pillow. Pong tried to protect himself as he grabbed for her arms.
"I don't even remember meeting you last night so how could I even possibly take advantage of you? I just remember getting in my car and driving home. I don't even remember opening my door much less take advantage of you." Pong said.
"I…then how else would I get here? How else would I get inside your house and your room? You drugged me and brought me here didn't you. You sick.." Kimberly yelled as she started hitting him with the pillows again.
"Wait! Calm down! I should be the one freaking out! I have a stranger in my bed!"

Kimberly and Pong sat at the breakfast table rubbing their heads wondering how they ended up in bed together. Kimberly tried to recall the events from the previous night, but she couldn't help but rub her head the furthest she could remember was drinking the beer.
"If I knew that drinking would ruin my life like this …" Kimberly mumbled under her breath.
"Ruin your life? How did this ruin your life?" Pong asked offended.
"Of course you wouldn't understand you're a guy. You have nothing to lose. I have everything to lose. I don't even know if I'll end up pregnant with your child after this." Kimberly said. Pong immediately spit out the gulp of coffee in his mouth.
"Pregnant? Are you crazy? Don't you know what it takes to get pregnant?" Pong laughed.
"O..of course I do. How old do you think I am?"
"I hope at least 18. Look, trust me we didn't do anything last night. No matter how drunk I get. How plastered I am, I would never ever ever sleep with a woman and not know. Also, we woke in our clothes. Does it make sense to you if we did anything we'd wake up in our clothes?" Pong said looking at Kimberly with a smirk. Kimberly let out a smile of relief knowing nothing happened between them.
"Uh..sorry for hitting you with the pillow." Kimberly apologized.
"It's ok. I understand." Pong said taking a sip of his coffee. "You should eat breakfast. I'll take you home afterwards."
"Thank you, but I can get home on my own." Kimberly said.
"Care to tell me your name?" Pong asked. He carefully admired Kimberly's face. This woman had a beauty that was unmatched. Pong hardly meets a woman he believes is truly beautiful, but today he must admit that he had finally met a woman he can completely call beautiful. Her face was naked and free of any makeup or residue from makeup ever being present, yet she was so beautiful.
"My name is Ki…" Before Kimberly could finish her sentence her phone rang and she quickly answered. "He..hello."
"Kim, are you ok sweetheart? You didn't come home last night; your mother is worried sick." The voice on the other end questioned before allowing Kimberly to say anything else.
"Sorry Ka Khun Wasan, I'll return home right away. I had to spend a night at my friends last night because she was afraid to be home alone." Kimberly quickly lied.
"Kim, how many times do I have to tell you to call me father."
"I'll speak to you when I get home ka." Kimberly said hanging up in a hurry. "I have to go home. Thank you for the breakfast, and sorry for hitting you." Kimberly said rising from the chair.
"Wait…wait. You forgot to tell me your …………….. name." Pong said as Kimberly rushed out of his house.

The Pimookmontra's Estate

Kimberly walked into the house and scanned the living area and saw no one around. She started walking towards the stairwell, but before she could take a step further she was stopped.
"Kim. Come talk to me first." Wasan said as he noticed Kimberly entering the house.
"Yes sir." Kimberly responded following him into the living room.
"Kim, are you ok?" Khun Wasan asked looking at his oldest daughter.
"I'm fine Ka Khun Wasan, thank you for asking." Kimberly responded.
"Kim, how many times do I have to tell you to call me father. You've been calling me father for all your life and now you're going to stop?"
"I'm sorry; if I knew before that you weren't my father I wouldn't have taken advantage of you for so long."
"Taken advantage? What are you saying Kimberly. Yes, you are adopted, but that doesn't make you any less of my child than Fahlada and Nang Fah. You are their older sister. You are the daughter of Wasan and Janejira Pimookmontra." Wasan said slightly raising his voice.
"I could never bring myself to call you father, you have done so much for me. You've raised me so well and treated me so well, when you didn't have to. I can't possibly ask for any more than that." Kimberly said slightly tearing up.
"Kim. I'm so sorry." Another voice said entering the room. Kimberly turned to see Janejira behind her. Janejira walked over to her daughter and placed her hands on her shoulders.
"Don't be, I shouldn't have been so disrespectful to my benefactors." Kimberly apologized.
"Kim, don't think that way. Even if we didn't give birth to you, we still consider you our daughter. We never meant for this to hurt you. We didn't want you to feel this way that is why we kept your birth a secret. We wanted the secret of your adoption to die with us. You are our daughter." Janejira said in tears. She moved her hands down Kimberly's arm and grabbed her hands. "Kimberly, remember that even if I didn't give birth to you. I am still your mother. I love you no less than I love Fahlada or Nang Fah. Please don't hurt yourself anymore. We've never considered you an adopted child." Janejira added.
"Kim, if you are unsure of our love for you I can show you my will. In the event of my death everything that I have will be split in three. You are my daughter just as much as Fahlada and Nang Fah are my daughters remember that." Wasan said placing his hands on Kimberly's shoulder from behind. Kimberly feeling overwhelmed by Wasan's and Janejira's kindness couldn't help but feel sick by her actions. How could she have possibly been so immature about the entire situation.
"Mother, Father, I'm so sorry for acting this way." Kimberly apologized as she turned to look both of them in the face. "I should have thought about your feelings and I what I was putting you through with this entire incident. I'm so sorry for being such a terrible daughter. My entire life you two have raised me and given me so much I don't know how I could have overlooked that and acted so terribly. Please forgive me." Kimberly pleaded. Wasan and Janejira smiled through their tears and wrapped their arms around their daughter. The three hugged as tears covered their faces.
"Wow, we weren't invited to this hugging party?" Fahlada said walking into the room. Nang Fah followed behind with a smile.
"I think I'm a little hurt." Nang Fah said. Wasan, Janejira, and Kimberly turned to see Fahlada and Nang Fah standing there and opened their arms to welcome them to another hug. Fahlada and Nang Fah walked over to the three without hesitation and wrapped their arms around their father, mother, and older sister. Wasan smiled as he stood holding his family. He was glad to finally have his daughter back and his family together again.

Chapter 5: De-Heired

“A man's real possession is his memory. In nothing else is he rich, in nothing else is he poor.” – Alexander Smith

“Ugh, I am so exhausted.” Cher Aem mumbled as she threw her near lifeless body onto her bed. Her eyes began to close as she slowly drifted off into a world where her conscious is no longer powerful. She knew that as long as she was awake she would soon have to face her father. An innocent smile painted itself on her face as she was no longer conscious and available to think of her wrongdoings.

“Chalida! Chalida!” A voice yelled out causing Cher Aem to abruptly awake from her afternoon nap.
“Ye..ye.. yes?” Cher Aem responded as she yawned. Rubbing her eyes she slowly lifted herself up into the sitting position on her bed.
“Open the door right now!” Mr. Wongwai yelled through the door. Cher Aem’s face became filled with fear as she realized her father has figured out her early morning shopping spree.
“Co…co.. coming.” Cher Aem screamed staggering towards the door. The blood in face slowly evaporated as she slowly opened the door. Before Cher Aem could say anything a stinging pain graced her cheeks as her father’s hand was lifted.
“Do you know what you have done?”
“Father… you..you.. slapped me.” Cher Aem said as tear formulated. “You’ve never hit me..”
“It’s because I’ve never hit you that is why you are so selfish!” Mhong screamed.
“I…I.. didn’t know that what I did was so-.”
“Don’t say you didn’t know that it was so wrong. I have already talked to you about this. Are you stubborn? Ignorant? Selfish? Stupid?”
“Father!” Cher Aem screamed as she tries to fight back her tears.
“Don’t call me father. I have asked you to hold back on your spending. You can’t even listen to one simple instruction.”
“Daddy, why are you so angry? It’s just a little money.” Cher Aem retaliated towards her father’s insulting comment.
“A little money? Do you know what we have…-“
“Khun Mhong.” Mali said stopping her husband.
“What we have what?” Aem asked curious. Cher Aem realized much more must be going on. There is something much more that her father refuses to tell her. “What we have what? Na’ Mali? What is it?”
“It’s nothing dear, your father is just angry.” Mali responded suspiciously. “Come on Khun Mhong, you need to calm down.”
“Daddy? Na’ Mali? What is it? Tell me? Is something wrong?” Cher Aem pressed.

Mhong looked at his daughter with pain consuming his heart. He raised his hand and gently caressed his daughter’s face. Regret filled him as he watched her flinched. For the first time in her life and in his he had hit his daughter. He knew that at that point the truth is the only way to explain his outburst to her, but how can he explain to his pride and joy, the apple of his eyes, and his only child his reason. How can he tell her that she is no longer the privileged young heiress that she once was because of his mistakes?

“Cher Aem, come here. Have a seat.” Mhong said leading Cher Aem to a chair in her bedroom. Mhong and Mali looked at one another and took a seat on the bed to face Cher Aem.

“The reason why… I have been asking you to …cut down on spending is because..”
“Because?” Cher Aem interrupted full of curiosity.
“Because… we are no longer as wealthy as we once were.” Mhong said hesitantly. Cher Aem’s face filled with confusion over this unwelcomed news.
“No longer wealthy? Meaning?”
“Meaning, we have no money left. We have some money reserved for you to finish school and continue to live moderately, but we can no longer afford your lavish shopping sprees.” Mhong responded putting his face into his hands. Cher Aem looked at her father and then her step mother.
“Wh…what about your company?” Cher Aem asked hoping her father would tell her he was just kidding.
“Our company was purchased by … by the Adisuan family.” Mhong responded regretfully.
“Can I be alone please?” Cher Aem asked calmly. Mhong’s face filled with confusion as he turned to look at his wife. Mali also confused slowly rose off the bed offering Mhong her hand.
“Khun Mhong, we should let Cher Aem be alone for now.” Mali reiterated.

Chapter 6: The Apple and the Tree

“A thousand words will not leave so deep an impression as one deed.” – Henry Ibsen

Cher Aem wandered aimlessly along the street of exclusive boutiques she once frequented as a customer. Her heart sunk every time she saw a sale sign. For the first time in life she felt like a commoner someone who had nothing. She tried to tell herself that this wasn’t the end of the world because there are people who are suffering hardships far beyond her own. Her blank thoughts were suddenly interrupted by a thud as she fell to the ground.

“Ouch, I’m sorry.” Cher Aem mumbled as she struggled to stand up.
“No, it’s my fault. I should have been more careful.” The handsome voice replied. Cher Aem looked up to see a handsome young man standing before her. She blushed as the man extended his hand to help her up.
“Thank you.” Cher Aem said filled with gratitude.
“It’s ok; it’s the least I can do after knocking you over.”
“I’m sorry again.” Cher Aem apologized.
“You realize you can stop apologizing now right? Sorry for knocking you over. If you are hurt please let me take you to the clinic and get patched up.” The stranger asked concerned. Cher Aem couldn’t help but giggle. “Something funny?”
“Nothing, I just think it’s funny that you think I need to go to a clinic for a small fall. I’m fine really. Thank you for your concern.” Cher Aem responded with a cheeky smile.
“Oh..ok.” The stranger said rubbing the back of his head.
“Excuse me, but I should really get home now.” Cher Aem said attempting to excuse herself.
“Are you driving? I can take you home if you like.” The stranger offers.
“Na…No, it’s ok I drove.” Cher Aem shouted.
“Ok.” The stranger responded with a smile. “If something goes wrong please do call me.” The stranger said handing her his business card. Cher Aem accepted the card and her eyes widened as she read the name.
“Patapee Adisuan.” She mumbled.

”The Adisuan family bought our business?” Cher Aem asked her father in confusion.
“Yes, Pattapee Adisuan gave us a very good price for our business and allowed me to keep my position so I wouldn’t be out of a job, but I will not be making nearly as much money as I once did. If it wasn’t for Khun Pattapee we would be out on the street right now.” Mhong responded.

“Yes, that would be me and you are? Hey… excuse me? Are you ok? Hello?” Pattapee said trying to get Cher Aem’s attention.
“Oh, Sorry I was just .. I remembered I forgot something.” Cher Aem responded embarrassed by her momentary drift.
“Are you going to tell me your name?” Pattapee asked a little confused.
“My name is… Chalida.. Chalida Wongwai.” Cher Aem answered with complete hesitance.
“.. Are you by chance related to Khun Mhong?” Pattapee asked a little shocked.
“Ye..yes, he’s my father Cher Aem responded embarrassed.”
“No Kidding, I work with your father. Your father is a really talented man. I see the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree. You are as good looking as your father.” Pattapee teased. “Well I really have to get going. Are you sure there is no where I can drop you off at?” Pattapee asked concerned.
“Yes, I’m sure. I drove.” Cher Aem responded shy and embarrassed.
“Well Ms. Chalida I hope to see you soon. I’ll have plenty of work for you.” Din said getting into his car.
“Wai…wait what?” Cher Aem shouted confused as she watched Pattapee drive off.

Chapter 7: Young and Reckless
Craving, not having, is the mother of a reckless giving of oneself.

“Hey Kim! Come on come have a drink with us.” Anna called out once she notices Kimberly’s presence in the club. Kimberly threw a faint smile at her best friend before attempting to force her way through the crowded club.
“Anna, why are you at a club this late?” Kimberly attempted to scream through the music.
“Wha.. what??!”
“WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE SO LATE?!”
“OH! I’m DANCING!”
“Anna, I can’t stay long I have to go home and prepare for my move to Chiang Mai.” Kimberly responded hoping Anna would hear her.
“Ki…Ki…Kim, I really need to go to the bathroom. I’LL BE RIGHT BACK!” Anna shouted as she walked away from her table. Kimberly attempted to call after her, but her voice continued to be submerged by the pulsating music.
15 Minutes Later

“She’s been gone an awfully long time.” Kimberly mumbled as she began to worry about Anna. Kimberly looked around anxiously to see if she could spot Anna on the dance floor. “Maybe I should go check on her in the bathroom.”

Kimberly reached the bathroom and her face filled with relief as she got a glimpse of her friend not too far away. She let out a smile of relief as she walked towards her friend.
“Anna, we should really get you home.” Kimberly said as she grabbed Anna’s arm.
“O..oh…ok.” Anna stumbled to respond. Kimberly smiled at her friend’s silliness as she dragged her staggering out of the club.
“I’ll take you home.”
“Thanks, Kim.”

Kimberly double checked to make sure the door locked behind her as she left her friend’s Condo. She vaguely remembered being in the Condo building not long ago, but couldn’t put her finger on when and how.
“I must be imagining things again.” Kimberly thought to herself. Just as the doors to the elevators opened Kimberly felt a strong force crashing into her moments before all the lights in her head completely dimmed.
“Oh Shit!” A drunken Pong hollered as he noticed the young maiden laying on the elevator floor. He looked around to see if anyone would be able to assist him, but as luck would have it the elevator hallway was completely silent. “I guess I’ll have to take her back up to my room.” He slurred.
Pong gently laid the beautiful young woman on his bed despite his inability to coherently think and realize what was going on.
“I’ll apologize in the morning.” Pong said crashing out beside her.

The Pimookmontra’s Estate

“So have you heard from Kim?” Janejira asked frantically as she approached her husband.
“No, I can’t seem to get ahold of her at all.” Wasan responded.
“I wonder where she could be. Kim is not a bad child; she would never stay out late and not call us.” Janjira said.
“Mother, Father, we called all of P’ Kim’s friends and no one has seen her. Her friend Anna said that she left her Condo a long while ago.” Fahlada said joining her parents.
“Then where could she be? You don’t think something hap..”
“No, Our daughter is safe.” Wasan said interrupting his wife’s unwelcomed thought.
“Mom, Dad, P’ Fahlada I got a text message from P’ Kim’s phone. It says,
Sorry for making you guys worry, but I brought my friend home because she was drunk. Didn’t want to leave her alone, tell mom and dad don’t worry. I’ll be home in the morning. Phone dying can’ call.” Nang Fah read aloud.
“See, I told you she was safe.” Wasan said in relief.
“Oh, that’s good. We should all go to sleep then.” Janejira said still a little worried.
“Ok,” Fahlada responded a little worried also.

Pong’s Condo
“Sorry whoever you are, I had to lie to your family. They wouldn’t quit calling and leaving me alone!” Pong said still fairly drunk. He set Kim’s phone down on the table beside his lamp and quickly plopped back down on the bed.

The Following Morning
Kimberly is quickly awoken by the sound of the screaming alarm clock.
“Oh no, not this again..” Kimberly whispered to herself.
“Hey, turn off the alarm will ya, I’m trying to sleep.” Pong grumbled.
“Hey, You! Wake up! What the heck am I doing in your bed again? Did you kidnap me? I knew it you kidnapped me last time. You did it again didn’t you?!” Kimberly said punishing Pong with the blows of a pillow.
“H…Ho…Hold ON!” Pong screamed yanking the pillow from her grasp. “Jeez, is your motto shoot first ask questions later?”
“What?”
“You didn’t even give me a chance to speak.”
“Why should I when you’ve kidnapped me!”
“NO! You fainted in the elevator yesterday and I was drunk. I didn’t know what to do, I couldn’t leave you in the elevator all passed out so I brought you back here.” Pong said rubbing his head in frustration.
“Oh.”
“Jeez, that’s the thanks I get for doing something noble? I even texted your family to tell them you’re ok when they kept calling and texting.” Pong mumbled as he laid back down.
“Family? OH NO, Mom and Dad! Wait get up you.” Kimberly responded in panic. She pulled the covers from Pong exposing his half naked body. “AHHHHHHHH!” She screamed out in shock.
“Hey! Stop that! Someone might think I’m doing something to you.” Pong said throwing his hands over her mouth. Kimberly struggled to remove his hands from her mouth causing Pong to fall forward against her; as she fall backwards onto the bed. Their eyes meet and it is as though time has stopped for Pong. Kimberly quickly pushed Pong in full force.
“What are you doing?!”
“Shh! Stop screaming will ya.” Pong said attempting to recover from the odd incident. Pong quickly pulled the covers from Kimberly to cover a little overexcitement.
Oh my gosh, is this girl really turning me on? What the hell? Why does it have to be right now. She is going to freak the eff out if she sees me this way.
“Hey, you should go freshen up or something. I’ll make us breakfast.” Pong said awkwardly.
“What?”
“Just DO IT!” Pong yelled.
“Ok, Ok.” Kimberly said getting off the bed confused. What the hell is his problem? Why the hell am I still even here?
As soon as Kimberly locked the doors to the bathroom, Pong scrambled off the bed to locate the baggiest pair of pants he had.
“This will do. Don’t scare the pretty lady mini me!” Pong yelled at himself.

I'll post some more updates after I run some errands ^.^

Chapter 8: Life’s Revolution

“Disenchantment, whether it is a minor disappointment or a major shock, is the signal that things are moving into transition in our lives.” – William Thorsby Bridges

Mook Montra Creative
“Khun Fahlada, Mr. Charles Adisuan would like to request a meeting with you. Did you want to go ahead and schedule this meeting?” Rama Fahlada’s faithful secretary asked over the speaker phone.
“Khun Charles Adisuan? Do you happen to know what it was that he wanted?” Fahlada asked anxious and surprised.
“He mentioned something about discussing business.” Rama responded.
“Buis..business?”
“Yes, he said he was referred by a friend to our company.”
“Rama, schedule the meeting for as soon as It is convenient for Khun Charles.” Fahlada shouted.
“Yes ma’am.” Rama responded
“If I could get Khun Charle’s Adisuan to hire me it will surely boost my company’s credibility.” Fahlanda whispered in excitement.

Adisuan Corporate Building
“Hey Charles, have you found an advertisement company for our new ad and commercials yet?” Din asked as he entered Charles’s office.
“I don’t have one picked out yet, but I am meeting with a few. I have a meeting with Mook Montra Creative in a few days. I’ll let you know as soon as I pick one out.” Charles responded.
“Mook Montra Creative? I’ve never heard of them. Shouldn’t we pick a company that has a better reputation so we’ll know the work will be good?” Din asked confused.
“I’m just meeting with them to see what they have to offer. I thought it would be a good idea to check out some new companies, maybe they will have new innovative ideas, but no one will give them the chance.” Charles responded.
“That’s true too, let me know if you find one that you like, I may hire them on for a different project afterwards.” Din said taking a seat.
“I hear that you have a new personal assistant? What about Khun Prae?” Charles asked attempting to make conversation.
“Khun Prae is my secretary, her job is to sit in the front of my office, take my calls, and stuff like that. Khun Mhong the owner of the chain we just acquired, Wongwai Valley asked me if I could find an entry level job for his daughter. I have a great deal of respect for Khun Mhong and didn’t feel comfortable putting his daughter at some entry level position where she won’t see the light of day. I decided in the end to just create the position of my personal assistant and give it to her. I can use an extra hand with the additional hotel. Speaking of Khun Mhong’s daughter, I had the pleasure of meeting her the other day.”
“Oh?”
“Yeah, the apple really doesn’t fall from the tree, she has her father’s good looks and seem to be very… gra…” Before Din could finish his sentence with the word graceful his mind slowly wandered back to his encounter with her and his clumsiness causing her to fall over.
“Very what?”
“Oh nothing, very kind and smart.” Din responded with a smirk.
“Oh, let’s hope she does a good job for you then.” Charles answered turning his attention back to his computer.
“Well, I am going to go back to work. I have to prepare her work space in my office before she starts working.” Din said leaving Charles’s office.

Bangkok International Airport
Mark sat outside the airport bench looking down at the hands so carefully cupped in his lap. What are they going to think when they see that I’m already home? I haven’t been gone that long, but it feels like it. How will they react to know that I’ve abandoned my studies?
Mark watched as the cab he called for pull up. He stood up and took a deep breath before picking up his suitcase. As Mark took a seat in the cab thoughts of his last week in America flashed repetitively in his mind.

“Mark, you can’t leave. You can’t do this to me, you can’t do this to us.” Pleaded Maytavee.
“May, I can’t do this anymore, I’ve tried, but I just can’t.”
“Mark you said you would be by my side no matter what.” May said in tears.
“May.. listen to me, things between us ended already. We’ve only known each other for a few months. I’m not ready to commit. I’m going back to Thailand.”
“Wh…what? You’re just going to leave me like this?”
“May, I have no choice, you really hurt me with what you’ve done.”
“What about Viyada? How much did she hurt you? You’re able to forgive her but not me?”
“May, Vi and I ended long ago. I am able to forgive you just like I forgave Viyada. I have to go.” Boy said leaving Maytavee to cry alone in the dark apartment.

The Pimookmontra’s Estate
Kimberly looked around as she entered the house to make sure she wouldn’t be spotted upon entering. She sighed in relief as her scan yielded an empty result. A smile washed over her face as she walked towards the stairwell to go to her bedroom.

“Kimberly Anne Pimookmontra, where have you been?” Wasan asked appearing from a side foyer.
“Fa…father.” Kimberly stuttered.
“So?”
“I was at a friend’s house. She had some issue’s so I had to stay with her.” Kimberly lied.
“The same friend that was too drunk to be alone?” Wasan asked suspiciously.
“Ye..yes.” Kimberly responded confused. She rubbed her head in confusion and suddenly remembered the conversation she had prior to returning home.

“Oh hey, your family kept calling you last night, but I didn’t want to answer since I’m a guy and stuff you know. I responded to a text from someone saying that a friend was to be left alone.” Pong said as he took a bite of his breakfast.
“Oh…ok, thank you.” Kimberly responded awkwardly.
“So after we eat do you want me to take you home?” Pong asked looking at Kimberly.
“Na..no, I will be fine.”
“Are you sure? I have to go out later anyway I can always drop you off at home or somewhere you want?”
“No really it’s no problem. I’ve bother you quite a bit already.”
“Suit yourself. Anyway, this is the second time you’ve ended up in my bed. I still don’t know your name. Usually the women who end up in my bed …Uh never mind. What’s your name?”
“My name is..” Should I tell him my name? What if this gets out will it ruin mother’s and father’s reputation? The Pimookmontra’s name? I better not give him my real full name.
“Your name is?”
“My name is A..Anne. It’s Anne.”
“Oh pretty name, my name is Pong by the way.”
“Well I better get going my parents are probably wondering where I am.” Kimberly said rising from the table.

“Kim. Kim.” Wasan called out.
“O..oh yes father?” Kimberly stuttered as she came out of her momentary drift.
“I asked you which friend?”
“I was with Anna.” Kimberly quickly lies feeling torment as she did it.
“Anna? Are you sure?”
“Y…yes.”
“Kimberly, what is going on with you?”
“W..why would you ask that father? Everything is fine.” Kimberly responded confused yet again.
“We called Anna and she said you left her condo shortly before we got your text.” Wasan responded heartbroken by Kim’s deception. “Kim, are you still bitter about the adoption thing?”
“Wh…what? No. No father, I understand everything and I am grateful to you and mother. I just … last night I had a few drinks with some friends and I was too afraid to come home so I went to …”
“Went to?”
“I…I… “
“Is there a guy? Were you with a man?” Wasan asked afraid of the response he’ll receive from his daughter.
“No.” Kimberly immediately responded.
“I was really at a friend’s, but you don’t know this friend. You and mother aren’t familiar with her and I was afraid you would worry.”
“Oh baby, don’t ever feel uncomfortable to tell us where you are. We are just worried about you.” Wasan said giving his daughter a hug. He sighed in relief knowing that his daughter didn’t disappear all night with a man. Kimberly hugged her father back as her face filled with remorse, regret, and pain.

Chapter 9: Gold Digger? I think not!
“A lady's imagination is very rapid; it jumps from admiration to love, from love to matrimony in a moment.” – Jane Austen

Cher Aem exited her car and stood there admiring the massive structure in front of her. Her family once owned this beautiful piece of architecture, but this is her first time ever setting foot within its grounds. Her admiration of this beautiful landmark is quickly stunted by the conversation she had with her father in the days prior to her entrance into Wongwai Valley

“Daddy, I ran into Khun… erm.. Khun Pattapee Adisuan and he mentioned something about work?” Cher Aem asked anxious, confused, and excited all in one.
“Err, I wanted to mention this to you gently, but since you were already informed I have no choice but to tell you. Have a seat.” Mhong said gesturing Cher Aem to take a seat beside him. Mali who is never far from her husband took a seat beside her husband.
“So?”
“You know that we’re in financial troubles, I am not really worried about myself, but it is you I worry about. I want you to be able to support yourself in case I…”
“Daddy, please don’t-“
“Listen baby, you are the most important woman in my life. You’re my only child and the apple of my eyes. I want to see you succeed and grow further in life. Although I have sold a majority of our shares to Khun Pattapee and he is the owner; I made sure that you will gain from this acquisition. I sold 60 percent of the 80 percent I had in the business. We are still important in the business, but Khun Pattapee holds the biggest vote. I want you to practice and learn from one of the best in the country. I originally asked for a placement an entry level position for you, but Khun Pattapee insisted that you take the position of his personal assistant. You can learn so much from him. Another thing is. Khun Pattapee ensured that you would be able to purchase the business back as long as you prove worthy. I want to retire baby, but I want the best for you. You need to do a great job as Khun Pattapee’s assistant.”
“But… I don’t know anything ab…-“
“You don’t need to know anything he will teach you all you need to know about our family business. Khun Pattapee created the position of his Personal Assistant specifically for you.”
“I….”
“I know that this is too much to ask, but do you think you could do this for yourself?”
“I…Daddy, I… I’ll try for me, for you, for us, for our family. I will do anything I possibly can to regain our family business.” Cher Aem said confident, but hesitant.
“Good, I will give you more details on when you need to start working.” Mhong said giving his daughter a kiss on the forehead. “I am going to go meet your uncle for some things behave dear.” Mhong said rising from the sofa. Mali watched as her husband headed up the stairwell. As soon as her husband was no longer visible she quickly moved in closer to Cher Aem.
“Aem, Do you have a boyfriend?”
“What? No! Why do you ask?”
“Well, Khun Pattapee is a great man and he is single. He is extremely wealthy.”
“And? Where are you going with this Na’ Mali?”
“Well if you can become Mrs. Pattapee Adisuan you’ll get everything back. The money, the expensive shopping sprees, your lavish lifestyle, and you’ll be one of the luckiest women in the country.” Mali blurted.
“Na’ Mali, are you asking me to seduce Khun Pattapee?” Cher Aem replied shy as her face filled with a slight blush.
“Of course not dear, ultimately it is your life. I am just suggesting what I think is in your best interest.” Mali continued to press.
“Na’ Mali I don’t know, I will just see how he is as my boss first.”
“Ok dear, just think about it. Remember you can regain your status in no time if you choose to become Mrs. Pattapee Adisuan.” Mali said leaving Cher Aem alone. Cher Aem watched as Mali walked away and slumped into the chair.
Become Mrs. Pattapee Adisuan? Is she crazy? Well… he is pretty good looking and oh my heavens his smile. His smile is just so freaking gorgeous. He is excruciatingly rich. Hmmm, wait what you are thinking Chalida! You’re starting to sound like a gold digger. Cher Aem immediately frowned at this unwelcomed idea in her head. Now you’re talking to yourself in your head. Not only are you a gold digger, but freaking insane. Hey who knows maybe Khun Pattapee likes insane chicks.

“Ahem, excuse me. Can I help you with something?” A voice interrupted Cher Aem’s train of thought. Cher Aem blushed and turned to see Din standing behind her.
“K..Khun Pattapee, what are you doing here?” Cher Aem asked nervous. Din smiled as his eyebrows arched due to confusion by her question.
“I work here?” Din responded with a small smile.
“Oh, oh yeah. Sorry, stupid question.”
“No it isn’t. Are you here for work?”
“Ye..yes.”
“Do you know where you are supposed to be?”
“Umm..Kinda?” Cher Aem responded embarrassed.
“Come, I’ll show you.” Din said with a smile as he led the way.
“Ok, thank you.” Oh my goodness, his smile is so intoxicating. He looks like one of those guys who models underwear, except with clothes on. Hmm, I wonder how he’ll look with just a pair of jeans and no shir- what the hell am I thinking?
“Are you excited?”
“For?” Cher Aem responded distantly. Din turned to look at her in confusion.
“Work. Your father told me this is your first job.”
“Oh, oh yes. I am very excited! Thank you again for giving me a great opportunity.” Cher Aem said as she blushed.
“No problem. I have a great deal of respect for your father. I know you are probably just as sharp as he is. I hope I’m creating an ally and not a competitor.” Din joked. Cher Aem smiled in agreement.
“Um, can I ask you something?”
“Yeah sure go ahead.”
“My father told me that this position as your personal assistance was created specifically for me. You didn’t have a personal assistant before?”
“I didn’t.”
“Then why the need for one now? I mean I could have started off somewhere downstairs in receptionist if you like.”
“Well Ms. Chalida I am a very very busy man. I juggle many things on my plate. My secretary is only contained to the things around the office and my paperwork, meetings, and all of that kind of stuff. A personal assistant will take care of my needs on a more personal level.”
“Needs?” Cher Aem gulped.
“Yes Needs.” Din responded stopping in his tracks. “I’m sorry; I didn’t mean to make it sound that way. I meant-“
“Its ok I know what you meant.” Cher Aem joked.
“Good! I was beginning to think I scared you off on the first day.”
“Never…” Cher Aem whispered.
“Excuse me?”
“Oh nothing.” Cher Aem replied with a mischievous smile.

“Ok so your desk will be inside my office. I know it seems kind of impersonal and you aren’t getting much space to yourself, but I will only be here 2 days of the week so the office is all yours for the other days. Your tasks will be on your desk every morning once you’ve entered the office. I will also send you a list of important dates to remember and the functions associated with them-wait am I overwhelming you?” Din asked a little embarrassed by bombarding her with too much information at once.
“Oh, no not at all.” I’m just admiring your gorgeous smile.
“Ok good, I think we’ll make a very great team Khun Chalida.” Din said smiling.
“Thank you.” Cher Aem blushed as she accepted the compliment.
“Do you have any questions so far before I continue?”
“Umm, I can’t really think of any right now, but if I have some I’ll be sure to let you know.”
“Ok, good. I’ll fill you in on some things you will probably need to adapt to. I have 4 brothers in total all younger than me. From time to time you will see them visiting me. My brothers are very easy going people so you don’t have to give them any special treatments. When my brothers are visiting if it happens to be during lunch hour I will probably leave the office for lunch. You can use this time as you like. The perks of being my personal assistant are that you are allowed 2 hours for your lunch break. From time to time I may invite you out to lunch with me mainly because I don’t like to eat alone. Feel free to say no if you already have plans. Also, I drink coffee three times a day while I’m working. I have one cup in the morning as soon as I am in the office, one cup after lunch, and one cup an hour before 6 Pm. I like my coffee dark, no sugar, no cream. – Oh I forget sometimes I give too much information at once. “
“No, you are fine. I got all of that. You can continue if you like.”
“Very well, when there are meetings with clients or anything similar I will be taking you with me. You will need to make sure you take very good detailed notes of these meetings so you can brief them with me afterwards. I think that is all I have actually.”
“It all sounds very simple.”
“It is, the job will get easier with time.”
“Can I ask you a personal question?” Cher Aem asked shyly.
“Sure, I’ll answer it if isn’t something uncomfortable.”
“Do you have a girlfriend?” Cher Aem asked. She noticed Din’s facial expression changed immediately. He was no longer wearing his gorgeous smile, but a deep dropped frown. “Oh you don’t have to answer if you don’t want to. I just wanted to know what kind of traffic I should be expecting into the office.”
“No that’s fine. I don’t have a girlfriend.” Din responded a little heavy hearted.
“Oh ok, sorry if I offended you or anything.” Cher Aem apologized full of remorse. Din’s face quickly turned from a deep frown to one of amusement.
“How should that question offend me?”
“I er… I meant sorry if I asked to personal of a question.”
“No, no don’t feel that way. You were simply gathering information to aid you in your work. Well now that I’ve exhausted you with information how about I let you play around on your computer and go over your desk and schedules? Then we’ll touch base at around noon?”
“That sounds good.” Cher Aem said turning towards her new work area. Din gave her an endearing smile before taking a seat at his desk.

Chapter 10: Child Prodigy

“Society bristles with enigmas which look hard to solve. It is a perfect maze of intrigue.” – Honore de Balzac

Fahlada took repeated breaths as she prepared for the most important meeting in her career. This was her chance to show the world that she belonged in this business.

“Khun Fahlada, Khun Charles is ready to see you.” Charles’s secretary Yurie said approaching Fahlada.
“Thank you.” Fahlada said standing up. She continued to take silent breaths as she walked towards the door. “Thank you again Khun Yurie.”
“No problem. Just go right on in he’s expecting you.” Yurie said leaving Fahlada at the door. Fahalada took one final breath and lightly knocked on the door before entering.
Charles who was sitting at his desk looked up and almost instantaneously he was taken aback by the woman who has just entered his office. He slowly stood up and walked over to greet Fahlada.

“Good morning, I am here to see Khun Charles Adisuan?” Fahlada said nervously. Charles face of confusion immediately became one of amusement.
“I am he. I sure hope so after all you just walked into my office.” Charles responded with a slightly mischievous smile. Fahlada immediately blushed.
“Sorry, I’m just a little nervous and I also expected you to be a little…. A little…..older.”
“I was also expecting you to be much older so I guess we’re even? Shall we have a seat?” Charles suggested gesturing her to take a seat in front of his desk.
“Thank you.” Fahlada responded taking a seat. Charles walked over to his chair and took a seat facing Fahlada. The two looked at one another for a short moment in silence. Fahlada blushed as she realized how deeply fixed Charles’s gaze was. “Is there something wrong with my face?”
“No, sorry. I was just… forget it lets talk business shall we?”

One Hour Later

“Ok. Khun Fahlada, thank you for meeting with me. I will be forward with you. I have had 5 meetings before yours and I have a few more. I can’t tell you right now if I am going to hire your company to work on this project, but I do like your ideas. However, I promised my older brother that I will look into multiple companies before deciding on one. I don’t want to discourage you because honestly if it were up to me I would cancel the rest of my meetings this instant. However, I will need time and I need to know that you’re ok with this.” Charles said looking at Fahlada with a reassuring smile.
“I understand and I am just grateful that we were even in the pool of companies you choose to meet with considering we are just starting. I know we don’t have much work… err- I mean we haven’t really had any yet.”
“Oh?”
“We just started not too long ago and I was still in the process of setting up so we don’t have any real portfolios finished yet due to being new. I will understand if you are reluctant to choose us.”
“Interesting, so you’re saying that if we select your company for this project we will be your first project?”
“Ye…yes.” Fahlada responded heavy hearted. She knew that the lack of experience will definitely turn off a multi-billion dollar conglomerate executive.
“Khun Fahlada, I may have several projects for your company if you’re willing which includes this big project we just met about. I am intrigued by your firm’s birth. I will have my secretary call your secretary to schedule a meeting. Does that sound ok to you?” Charles said not leaving Fahlada any room to catch up to the freight train of good news that just hit her.
“Oh my … that would be lovely. I can meet whenever is convenient for you. I am pretty much err- I am available most of the time these days. Not much working yet.”
“Good let’s change that. I have a meeting after you for some other purposes, but I would like to have lunch with you later on today if that is ok with you?”
“Lunch?”
“If you’re busy we can reschedule.”
“I…I… I’m free.”
“Ok, shall I pick you up from your company?”
“I can meet you anywhere you want to have lunch if you want?”
“Nonsense, I’ll pick you up after all I am inviting you out. I’ll see you in 2 hours?”
“Sounds good.”
“Very well then, shall I escort you to your car?”
“No that’s fine. Thank you again Khun Charles.” Fahlada said as they both rise from their seats.
“It’s my pleasure.” Charles responded with a light hearted smile. Charles watched as Fahlada exited his office and immediately picked up his phone.

“Hey Natee, its Charles, I have a favor to ask. Get me all the information you can on Khun Fahlada the owner of Mook Montra Creative. If possible I’d like to have it within the hour. Thanks.” Charles said hanging up.

45 Minutes Later

Natee briefly said hello to Yurie before knocking on Charles’s door.
“Natee, good you’re here.” Charles said gesturing Natee to have a seat in front of him.
“I’ve got everything you need to know on Khun Fahlada. Can I ask why the sudden stalkspinoge?” Natee asked placing the envelope of information on Charles’s desk. Charles’s face filled with a grin before looking up to face his dear friend.
“No specific reason, I may do business with Mook Montra Creative and I need a little background that’s all.” Charles said picking up the envelope. Charles slowly pulled the information from the packet and began reading.
“Ok I warn you this girl is much more interesting than you will expect.”
“Khun Fahlada Ahjima Pimookmontra the 2[sup]nd[/sup] oldest of the Pimookmontra’s children. Older sister Kimberly Anne Pimookmontra and Twin sister Nang Fah Jeed Pimookmontra. 18 years old, Graduated from University of Pennsylvania with an Executive MBA and Marketing MBA, Stanford University with Social Psychology emphasis PhD … - wait how is this possible? Is this right Natee?” Charles’s stopped to confirm the information with a confused, shocked, and surprised expression all in one.
“Continue reading.” Natee said with a smirk. Charles turned his attention back to the packet of information.
“Recognized as a Child Prodigy by the age of 8, moved to America to finish high school, enrolled in college by the age of 11, earned all degrees by the age of 16, invested in stock markets overseas and earned a sum of money which she used to start up Mook Montra Creative. Best friends include Sabainang "Bee" Akkarat and Chalida Cher Aem Wongwai. That name sounds familiar-“
“Of course it does. You recently purchased her father’s multi-billion dollar business Wongwai Valley. Khun Chalida is Din’s personal assistant.”
“Wow, small world.” Charles commented before going back to read. “Never involved in public relations, currently settled in Thailand permanently, and independently wealthy.” Charles finished reading.
“What did I tell you, interesting eh?”
“Yes, very. No wonder she looks so young.”
“Does this change your business intention with her? Too young and inexperienced to work for a big conglomerate like the Adisuan Enterprise?”
“What? No. This makes me more interested in her… err I mean Mook Montra. I think I can figure a way to convince P’ Din to go with Mook Montra.”
“Well now that I’m done, I better leave. I have a hot date later on today.” Natee said rising from his chair.
“Never a day short of chasing a woman.”
“You know me; there are many women in the world and not enough men to love them. I mind as well sort that out.” Natee said leaving Charles’s office. Charles turned his attention back to the packet of paperwork that enlists all of Fahlada’s achievements and accomplishments. The more he read the more he became convinced that Fahlada would be the perfect person to carry out the projects he had in mind.
“Khun Yurie, please cancel all my appointments for the rest of the day. I have some business to attend to.” Charles ordered through his speaker phone.
“Yes sir.” Yurie responded.
