Chapter 5:
“Grand, I smell vampires. They’re probably here already,” said Kaew.
“I know, I can sense it too,” said Grand, “Let’s go.”
Both sisters walked out to front of cave.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sila and Yuk saw Grand and Kaew come out.
“Run away,” yelled Sila and Yuk, “We’ll take care of this.”
“No,” yelled Kaew.
“Grand and Kaew, come here,” said the Chief.
Grand and Kaew refused for the first time.
“Please, don’t do this,” said the Chief.
Grand and Kaew decided to run. But they ran toward Sila and Cheewin instead.
Grand and Kaew pushed into them and all of them fell into the big hole.
“No,” cried the Chief.
Both sisters knew what they have done was wrong as they listen to their Chief’s voice fade away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
All of them realize the hole lead them to an underground tunnel. They walked through the tunnel without anyone saying a word.
“Cheewin, I see light,” said Sila.
“Really?” asked Cheewin. He looks carefully and saw a ray of light.
“Grand and Kaew, come this way,” said Sila leading them through.
Grand and Kaew walked pass by them without a word.
“That’s weird,” thought Sila, “how come they didn’t say a word.”
They found a hole on the ceiling.
“Sila, we’ll have to climb,” said Cheewin.
“I know, let’s get the ladies first,” said Sila.
Grand and Kaew nodded. They looked really tired.
Sila and Cheewin helped Grand and Kaew out the opening.
Kaew went first, then Grand, and then Cheewin, and Sila came last.
All of them walked for a while with silence. All of a sudden, Kaew and Grand fell to the ground.
“What happened?” yelled Cheewin.
Sila picked up Grand off the ground and so did Cheewin with Kaew.
Both realized that Kaew and Grand was shot with an arrow. They were shot while grabbing Sila and Cheewin under the tunnel.
Cheewin said, “Were they trying to block us from the vampires?”
“I don’t know, but we’ve got to help them. Quick,” cried Sila.
Sila held on to Grand and said, “You’re going to be okay Grand.” He picked up Grand and took her.
Cheewin picked up Kaew and followed Sila.
Blood were flowing everywhere.
Cheewin thought, “No wonder they didn’t say a word.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They walked for hours, but can’t find a safe place in the forest.
“Sila, I see people,” said Cheewin.
Sila saw a dim light in the distance.
“Who is it?” said Sila.
“I don’t know,” replied Cheewin.
Sila and Cheewin hide behind a tree.
Then they heard talking, “Master, you must have thought too much. Sila and Cheewin are going to be okay.”
“No,” said the Master, “I need to help them.”
Sila and Cheewin realized it was their Master searching for them.
“Let’s go,” said Cheewin.
Sila nodded.
Both walked out and walked towards the Master.
“Master, we’ve come,” said Sila.
“Is that Sila and Cheewin,” said the Master.
“Yes,” replied Sila and Cheewin.
“Who’s with you?” asked the Master, “I’ve come a long way looking for you. I thought you two were having trouble. Did you?”
“We did,” said Cheewin, “Vampires attacked us, but we’ve escape.”
“And…we’ve brought two other humans that we’re trying to escape from vampires,” said Sila.
“Really?” said the Master, “Well, let’s go find a place to stay first, before the vampires catch up.”
Sila and Cheewin nodded and walked after the Master.
They found a hiding place by the river.
“I’ve brought doctors. Leave those two ladies to them and they’ll take care of them,” said the Master.
“Okay,” said Cheewin.
They set up a tent for the doctor and Grand and Kaew.
Sila and Cheewin waited by the river bank.
“Why don’t you two eat something?” asked the Master.
“It’s okay, I’m just worried about Grand,” said Sila.
Cheewin gave Sila a look.
“And Kaew,” said Sila.
“Well, okay then,” said the Master.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A while later, the Doctor came out of the tent with a shock look on his face.
Sila and Cheewin raced toward him.
“Are they healed yet?” Sila and Cheewin asked.
“Yes, I’ve healed them alright, but I’ve also made a mistake healing them,” said the Doctor.
“What, what do you mean?” asked Cheewin.
“They’re…they’re,” said the Doctor.
“They’re what?” asked Sila.
“They’re vampires,” said the Doctors.
Everyone rushed to the tent.
“We’ve got to kill them before they wake up,” said the Master.
“No,” yelled Sila and Cheewin.
“This can’t be,” said Sila, “It’s not true, they’re humans, not vampires.”
“If you want to know if they are really vampires,” said the Doctor, “feel their pulse on their neck. They don’t have one. They are cold-blooded.”
Sila and Cheewin walked into the tent.
They saw two looking innocent, sweet girls. How can they be so cruel?
Sila walked over to Grand and Cheewin walked over to Kaew.
Both put their fingers on their neck.
They listened for a while, then gasped.
There was no beat in it. They can’t feel anything but dead silence.
Sila and Cheewin were as stiff as a stone.
They didn’t know what to say.
“They are vampires,” thought Sila and Cheewin, “Why?”
“Let’s kill them,” yelled the humans.
“NO!” yelled Cheewin.
Both brothers carried Grand and Kaew out the tent.
“What are you doing?” asked the Master.
“I won’t let you kill them,” said Sila.
“No,” say the Master, “They were just using you boys. They don’t love you like how you love them.”
“That’s not true,” said Sila.
“Kill the vampires everyone,” said the Master.
“No,” yelled the brothers.
All the humans came toward them trying to surround them.
The brothers ran as fast as they can, carrying Grand and Kaew.
The Master yelled, “Come back. Don’t you remember about your revenge you boys promised to do?”
Sila and Cheewin stopped.
They remembered about their promise. They can’t just break it?
Why does love has to be so unresisting?
Sila and Cheewin looked back with tears.
“I’m sorry,” said Sila and Cheewin, “But I know that what we’re doing is right.”
And both continued running away.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
They’ve been running for days looking for a place to hide.
Grand and Kaew haven’t woke up yet.
“Sila, we can’t keep running like this forever. Let’s find a place to rest,” said Cheewin.
“I agree,” said Sila, tired.
They went under a shed, laying down the two vampires on the ground carefully.
“Why did they lie to us?” asked Cheewin.
“I don’t know,” said Sila, “but, are we taking the right path?”
“I don’t know either,” replied Cheewin, “But all I know is that…I love Kaew, and I know you love Grand, too.”
Sila nodded.
The brothers both started crying.
Is it just them, or fate?
They have broken their promise to their parents.
“I’m sorry,” thought Sila.
“Let’s take care of the vampires first,” said Cheewin.
Both tried to find water. They kept walking till they find a pond.
Sila ripped a part of his shirt, washed it with water, and walked back to Grand and wiped her face.
Since Cheewin brought his own cloth, he used that to do the same thing.
Both brothers cared for the vampires for days and they still haven’t woke up.
During nighttime, the brothers cried again.
Their tears fell upon the vampires’ face and it twinkled magically.
Sila and Cheewin sobbed with misery through the whole night.
They thought what they did was wrong.
“Now I know why you came up with that question,” said Cheewin, “Because it’s fate that really happened.”
Sila felt ashamed.
Both brothers cried their selves to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next morning, Sila and Cheewin woke up feeling guilty.
They had dreams and different kinds of vision.
Both wondered, “Is love ever like this?”
“Sila, let’s go find something to eat,” said Cheewin.
“Let’s go,” said Sila.
They turned around and realized the vampires were gone.
“Where did they go?” said Sila.
“Did somebody take them, or did they already woke up?” asked Cheewin.
“I don’t know,” said Sila, “we have to look.”
Both walked around trying to find Grand and Kaew.
“Grand,” yelled Sila.
“Kaew,” yelled Cheewin.
Both heard something in the distance.
They ran and saw Grand and Kaew picking up berries.
“Hi,” said Grand and Kaew.
“We thought you boys might be hungry, so we picked up some berries for you guys. But since you boys are awake now, you guys can help us,” said Grand.
Sila and Cheewin smiled.
They knew that Grand and Kaew did not know what happened days ago. They also didn’t know that they know they’re vampires.
When they finished picking berries, they went back to their place.
“What I remember is that me and Grand got shot by an arrow, How come we survived?” asked Kaew.
“Actually, we cured you guys,” said Cheewin.
“Really? Thanks. If you boys know better, you guys shouldn’t have,” said Grand, looking guilty.
“Why that?” asked Sila.
“Nothing,” said Grand.
Grand and Kaew looked drowsy.
Sila knew why. They haven’t had blood in a long time.
Grand and Kaew went walking for a while, trying to look for blood.
Sila also knew that the place that they were at, don’t have any animals.
“We have to tell them that we know they’re vampires,” said Sila.
“Why?” said Cheewin.
“We can’t keep this hiding forever,” said Sila.
“I know,” said Cheewin, “but I’m not ready for it yet. They barely woke up.”
“I’m sorry Cheewin, but I’m going to have to,” said Sila.
“Then I’m going to go with you. If they kill us, I’m going to die with you too,” said Cheewin.
“Thanks bro,” Sila said.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The brothers walked toward Grand and Kaew.
“Is there anything we can help?” asked Kaew.
“Grand and Kaew,” said Sila, “We have something to tell you.”
“We know that you are vampires,” said Cheewin.
Grand and Kaew looked at each other.
There was no point in this anymore. They have to kill the humans.
Both ran toward the boys grabbing them by the neck.
“I’m sorry,” said Sila and Cheewin.
“How did you find out?” asked Kaew.
“We were with the humans; they knew you guys were vampires when they cured you girls. They tried to kill you, but me and Cheewin took you guys and ran away,” said Sila.
“What?” said Grand, “Why?”
“Because he loves you,” yelled Cheewin, “Can’t you see how much he sacrificed for you? Now I know that vampires don’t know how important love is.”
“How dare you talk like that to my sister?” yelled Kaew.
“I’m sorry Kaew,” said Cheewin.
Grand has a face full of grief.
“Why do you care to save us in the first place?” said Kaew.
“Because…because,” said Cheewin.
“Because what?” said Kaew.
“I love you,” said Cheewin.
“No,” yelled Kaew, “Let’s kill them.”
Kaew and Grand swing their hands at them while Sila and Cheewin closed their eyes.
Tears came out of Sila and Cheewin’s eyes.
Both had innocent looks.
Kaew and Grand thought to themselves, “Humans take love seriously. They fall for love easily. Why must it be so heartbreaking?”
Kaew and Grand stopped.
“Kill us,” said Sila, “I’ll be happy. There will be no more misery in this world for us.”
Kaew and Grand turned around trying to hold back their tears.
After all the humans did to them, help them, they can’t even repay them at all.
“Let’s go back,” said Kaew, “and find something to eat.”
Kaew ran away crying.
Grand looked at Sila with tears and helped him get up while Cheewin run after Kaew.
Throughout the whole night, nobody said a word, but cry.
Chapter 6:
The next morning, Sila realized that Grand and Kaew is really tired.
“What should we do?” thought Sila.
“Cheewin, let’s separate. You take Kaew to another place and I’ll take Grand. We’ll meet back here in about the next 3 days or so. Okay?” said Sila.
“Okay then,” said Cheewin, “Why?”
Sila whispered in Cheewin’s ear.
“Oh, now I get it. You do really care for them huh?” said Cheewin.
Sila nodded.
Cheewin helped Kaew up and took her by the side.
“Where are we going?” asked Kaew.
“It’s okay. You’re going to be safe,” said Cheewin.
When Cheewin and Kaew were out of sight, Sila carried Grand and took her in the other direction.
“Where are you taking me?” asked Grand, feeling really tired.
“I’m not going to hurt you. Just close your eyes and go to sleep alright,” said Sila.
“Promise you’re not going to do anything harm to me?” said Grand.
“Promise,” said Sila.
Grand nodded and went back to sleep.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sila has been walking for hours until he found a river.
He stopped there and set Grand down. Sila went over to drink.
He can tell Grand was really thirsty, too.
“What should I do,” he thought, “There are no animals around here. Animals are like days away to get there. I know Grand can’t take it no more.”
Sila sat there thinking for a bit. “I can’t let Grand die, it’s going to have to be this way.”
He looked at Grand laying there, hungry and restless.
He looked through his supplies that we brought and took out a knife.
He went to find a quieter place. He sat down, thinking too much about Grand, afraid that she might not be there when he come back.
“I’ve got to do this first,” he thought.
Sila used the knife to cut through his lower arm.
He used a bowl to place the blood there. Sila closed his eyes tightly as the blood flow onto the bowl.
He let his blood fall onto the bowl until he felt dizzy.
Sila used a piece of cloth to wrap around his lower arm so the blood would stop flowing.
Sila and came and saw that Grand was still laying there.
Sila was glad that Grand was still there. He smiled and walked over to Grand.
“Grand, wake up, Grand,” said Sila.
“Are we there yet?” said Grand.
“I don’t know, but I’ve brought you food,” said Sila.
“What?” said Grand.
“I…um…I found a deer running in a distance, so I ran to catch it and took out the blood from it. I knew you were thirsty,” said Sila.
“You don’t have to do that,” said Grand.
“It’s okay. It’s only for you,” said Sila.
Grand smiled and took the bowl when Sila handed it over to her.
When Grand took her first sip, she spitted it back out.
“Why?” said Grand, “Why did you do this?”
“What did I do?” said Sila.
Grand looked at Sila’s lower arm, which was wrapped with cloth.
“What happened to your arm?” asked Grand, crying.
“I accidentally cut it by a sharp tree,” said Sila, not knowing what to say.
“Don’t lie,” cried Grand.
“I know what you did. I can tell different tastes between human and animal blood,” said Grand.
Sila felt guilty and so did Grand.
“I’m sorry, but that’s the best I can do for you,” said Sila.
“No it’s not,” cried Grand, “I hate your kindness, I hate everything.”
Grand slapped herself a few times.
“No,” said Sila, trying to stop her. Since Grand was really strong, Sila decided to hug her tightly and said, “It was all my fault. I’ve fallen for you in the first place. I’ve made you go through this pain. I’ve gotten you in trouble. I…I made myself love you.”
Grand stopped and looked at Sila.
Sila wiped her tears away, “As long as you’re with me, remember, you’re safe.”
Grand nodded and cried some more.
“But please drink my blood for me. Do it for me. If you don’t, I’ll feel guilty for the rest of my life. Please don’t take my love away, I don’t want you to die,” said Sila.
Grand refused.
“Please,” said Sila. He started to cry, “I love you.”
Grand looked at him, “I can’t stand looking at you like this. Fine, I’ll do it.”
Sila smiled.
He watched Grand happily.
When Grand finished, Sila realized that Grand was back to herself, happy and playful.
Grand stood up and looked around, “So what do you want to do?”
Sila smiled and also stood up after her. He walked toward Grand and took both of her hands together.
“I want to have just one perfect day with you,” said Sila.
Grand smiled.
Sila kissed her forehead and put his arms around her waist.
“I love you,” he whispered.
Grand whispered back, “I love you too.”
Grand looked at Sila and asked, “Will you promise me something?”
“Yes,” said Sila.
“Promise to love and protect me?” said Grand.
“I promised,” said Sila.
Grand and Sila smiled.
Grand thought, “Love IS on the way.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Since Kaew was so tired, Cheewin decided to carry her, too.
They reached a small pond with lots of water.
Cheewin laid Kaew down. He’s been thinking lately about giving his own blood to Kaew.
He took a drink out of the pond.
“I’m going to have to cure for her,” he thought, “It’s been days. She must be really hungry.”
He took out his long sword and cut his lower arm, too.
Since he didn’t have a bowl, he used a bunch of leaves, which he made into a cup and pour his blood into there.
When the leaf cup was full, he stopped.
Cheewin was really happy. Now Kaew can be healthy again.
He walked over to Kaew and woke her up.
“Kaew, wake up, I got you food,” said Cheewin.
“Really?” said Kaew. Her mouth was really dry.
Cheewin helped Kaew up and handed her the blood.
She sniffed it and turned away.
“Where did you get if from?” asked Kaew.
“It doesn’t matter,” said Cheewin, “Just drink.”
A tear came down Kaew’s cheek. “Tell me,” yelled Kaew.
Kaew took his arm and pulled up his sleeve. There she saw a mark. “How did you get this?” she asked.
“It was an accident,” said Cheewin.
Kaew slapped Cheewin. Then she cried.
“Why? Why do humans have to be so friendly and thoughtful?” said Kaew.
“Because that’s who we are,” said Cheewin, “We learn how to love, how to take is seriously. We learned how to care and be considerate of others. That’s what love is.”
Kaew cried and cried.
“But I don’t have love in me. I’m just a cold-blooded nothing,” said Kaew.
“You do love,” said Cheewin, “If you know how to love your parents, your people, then you can love.”
“Really?” said Kaew, “I’ve never been taking love seriously. I lied to you guys.”
Kaew started punching Cheewin, “Why? Why do you have to come into my life? Why?”
Cheewin grabbed Kaew and hugged her tightly.
“You’re going to be okay. Please don’t do that,” said Cheewin.
Kaew continued crying and stopped.
“I love you,” said Cheewin.
Kaew looked up and Cheewin put his hands on her cheek.
“I don’t want you to die. I’ll do anything to protect you,” said Cheewin.
Kaew cried even more and swings her arms around Cheewin.
They hugged for a while. Then Cheewin said, “Please drink my blood. If you don’t, it’s just a waste of time. And I’ll regret it for the rest of my life.”
Kaew nodded softly and drank.
Cheewin was really happy. He can already tell that Kaew felt healthy again.
Kaew stood up playfully and put her arms around Cheewin’s neck. She kissed his cheek and whispered to his ear, “Do you love me?”
“Of course,” said Cheewin.
Kaew laughed and whispered back, “I love you too.”
Cheewin smiled. He picked up Kaew and spun her around.
Kaew laughed and so did Cheewin.
Chapter 7:
“Sila, are we going to sleep by the river bank tonight,” asked Grand.
“I guess we are,” said Sila, “I told Cheewin we’ll meet back at our place in about 3 days.”
“Oh,” said Grand.
“You stay here, and I’ll get the wood for our fire, Okay?” said Sila.
Grand nodded and looked at Sila as he walks away and disappear into the darkness.
Minutes later, Grand decided to go after Sila.
“Sila, where are you?” yelled Grand, “Sila?”
Grand kept walking forward in one direction.
“Sila,” yelled Grand.
Grand tripped on a rock and fell. At that time, Sila came out and caught her.
Sila grabbed her and helped her up.
“Are you okay?” said Sila, wiping away the leaves off her hair and holding her face.
“Yes,” said Grand.
“You shouldn’t have come out here,” said Sila.
“I was worried about you,” said Grand.
“Let’s go,” said Sila, “I got the woods over there already. I came back and you were gone. So I came out here looking for you.”
Sila and Grand walked back, but when Grand took a step, she fell.
“What happened?” asked Sila.
Grand has twisted her ankle.
“Come on,” said Sila, “I’ll carry you on my back.”
“No, I’m fine. You don’t have to,” said Grand.
“I don’t want you to hurt anymore, Grand,” said Sila, “Please.”
Grand refused.
Sila pulled Grand onto his back and took her.
Grand put her arms around Sila’s neck and rested her head on his back.
Sila smiled and said, “I’m happy I met you.”
Grand smiled and said, “I’m happy I HAVE you.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cheewin and Kaew were watching stars.
“Cheewin, why don’t you get the wood so we can make fire?” asked Kaew.
“We don’t need woods,” said Cheewin.
He took out two jars and handed one to Kaew.
“What is it for?” asked Kaew, confused.
“There are many fireflies here. We can catch them in here,” said Cheewin, smiling.
Kaew smiled back and said, “You’re so sweet.”
Cheewin and Kaew were catching fireflies all night.
They caught many fireflies, especially Kaew.
After a while, Kaew was tired so she sat down, watching Cheewin catch fireflies.
Kaew smiled and whispered, “I wish it can be like this every day.”
Kaew was tired, so she slept.
Cheewin was still catching fireflies and didn’t realize that Kaew already slept.
Cheewin stop and looked at Kaew. He smiled and walked over to Kaew.
Cheewin took off his sweater and placed it over Kaew. He kissed Kaew’s forehead and watched Kaew sleep.
Cheewin smiled and through the whole night Cheewin thought, “I wish I was immortal.”
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The next day, Grand woke up first. She looked at Sila sleeping next to her.
Since Grand was active today, she decided to get Sila some food. And since she has a really good eyesight, she decided to catch some fish for Sila in the river.
She climbed up a tree and looks to see where the fishes are. When she saw them, she jumped into the water to catch it. Vampires are really skilled at this. They don’t need nets or fishing poles.
Grand caught about ten fishes. She decided to eat 4 of them, raw.
She kept the other six fishes for Sila.
Sila woke up to the smell of delicious cooked fish. Sila opened his eyes are realized that Grand was cooking for him. He smiled and said, “You don’t have to find me food. I can do it myself.”
Grand laughed and said, “You never let me do anything.”
“I’m afraid you’ll get hurt,” said Sila.
“I won’t,” said Grand, smiling.
“Here, it’s all cooked. See how it taste like,” said Grand, handling it over to Sila.
Sila took the fish and had a bite of it.
“Is it good?” said Grand.
“No,” said Sila.
Grand had a frown on her face.
“No,” said Sila again, “It’s just perfect.”
Grand look up and smile. She hugged Sila tightly and said, “Really?”
“Really,” said Sila.
Sila was glad to see Grand so happy.
“So what do you want to do for the day?” asked Grand.
“I want to go walk around, so we can find a better place to stay at,” said Sila.
“Alright,” said Grand.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
“Ouch,” yelled Kaew.
Both Kaew and Cheewin woke up by bumping into each other’s head when they turned.
Cheewin laughed, “Sorry.”
“It’s alright,” said Kaew, smiling.
Cheewin took out a knife.
“What are you going to do?” asked Kaew.
“I’m giving you more blood,” said Cheewin.
“No,” said Kaew, grabbing the knife away from Cheewin, “I won’t let you sacrifice yourself for me anymore. By the way, I already had enough blood. I can last up for about a week or so.”
“But…” said Cheewin.
“No buts,” said Kaew and she laughed.
“Alright,” said Cheewin, “I’ll do whatever you say, but I’ll refuse if I have to in order to protect you.”
Kaew smiled and stood up.
“I found a tree filled with berries last night. I’ll get you some,” said Kaew.
“I’ll come with you,” said Cheewin.
Cheewin walked over to Kaew and held her hand.
When both reach the tree, Cheewin started picking a lot of berries and eating some.
Kaew laughed and helped pick up some berries.
When Cheewin was full, both went back to their place and packed some into Cheewin’s bag.
“So what do you want to do today?” asked Kaew.
“I don’t know, but I was thinking about finding a better place to stay,” said Cheewin.
“Then let’s go,” said Kaew.
“I guess,” said Cheewin, smiling.
Both packed up their stuffs and walk back into the deep forest.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sila and Grand has been walking for hours until they came to a smoky place.
“Where are we?” asked Grand.
“I don’t know,” said Sila.
Grand looked around and saw other vampires.
“No,” yelled Grand.
The net fell on top of Sila.
“No,” yelled Grand, “Please don’t.”
The Chief and the other vampires stepped out.
“Love is a powerful thing, right?” said the Chief.
Sila looked up and yelled, “Let me go.”
One of the vampires came and hit Sila on the back.
Grand realized that Sila became unconscious.
Two other vampires came and held Grand.
“Please, don’t do anything to Sila. I’ll go back with you, but please don’t do anything to Sila,” said Grand.
“Alright,” said the Chief, “I’ll be leaving Sila here. If he’s lucky enough, his people will find him, but you’ll be leaving with me. I need to talk to you.”
Grand nodded and walked with the vampires.
She looked back and said, “Goodbye, Sila.”
Grand walked with them, with tears flowing down her face.
Chapter 8:
Sila woke up, alone in the woods, not knowing what to do.
“Grand,” he yelled, “Grand, where are you?”
Sila cried, “I’m a failure, Grand. I can’t help you. Why?”
Sila walked around the woods crying.
“I’ve got to find Cheewin and Kaew,” said Sila, “I wonder, did they take Kaew, too?”
Sila was so mad at himself that he slammed his knuckles into the tree.
“Why, why, why?” yelled Sila, “Why does it have to be like this?”
He stood there crying the whole time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Cheewin and Kaew walked around the forest.
“Cheewin, I smell smoke. Where is it coming from?” said Kaew.
“Let’s go look,” said Cheewin.
Both ran to the place. There they saw a river and a burnt out fireplace.
“Sila and Grand must be here somewhere,” said Cheewin.
“I don’t think they’re here,” said Kaew, “I don’t smell them anywhere.”
“Really?” said Cheewin, “Then…do you smell them like from far away.”
“No,” said Kaew, “I need to get somewhere closer to them.”
“Then let’s go this way,” Cheewin pointed.
Kaew nodded and followed Cheewin.
As Kaew and Cheewin walks, Kaew’s been concentrating on smelling.
Then Kaew stopped.
“I think I smell Sila,” said Kaew, “but I don’t smell Grand anywhere. Why?”
“I don’t know, but I think Grand probably went to catch them food or something,” said Cheewin.
“I guess so,” said Kaew, “I think we’re getting close though.”
Cheewin nodded.
They continued walking until they heard someone crying.
Cheewin grabbed Kaew to hide behind a tree.
“Shh” said Cheewin.
“But…” said Kaew.
Cheewin covered Kaew’s mouth, “Don’t say anything, it might be a vampire.”
Cheewin took out his sword and said, “Kaew, you stay here.”
Kaew nodded and say, “But Cheewin…”
Cheewin shook his head and put his hand up to silence Kaew.
Cheewin walked quietly over to the person.
“Why?” said the person, “Why?”
Cheewin realized it was Sila’s voice.
“Sila, is that you?” asked Cheewin.

Sila heard Cheewin. “Is it really Cheewin? Has he come?” thought Sila.
“Yes, it’s me,” said Sila.
Cheewin put his sword back, “What happened to Grand?”
Sila looked down with a face of sympathy.
“The vampires came and took Grand. She gave herself away to keep me alive,” said Sila, with tears rolling down his face.
“Really?” said Cheewin.
“Have they took Kaew, too?” asked Sila, looking up.
“No, they haven’t,” said Cheewin. Then he turned around and said, “Kaew, come out.”
Kaew stepped out and said, “Cheewin, I was trying to say it was Sila, but you didn’t listen.”
“Oh, no wonder. I’m sorry. I’ll listen next time okay?” said Cheewin.
“Alright,” said Kaew and she smiled.
Sila, looking at Cheewin and Kaew made him even more sad because Grand wasn’t right by his side.
“Cheewin is so lucky,” thought Sila, “Why?”
Then Kaew walked away from Cheewin and walked right toward Sila.
“I’m sorry,” said Kaew.
“It’s okay,” said Sila.
Sila tried to hold back his tears, but he just couldn’t.
“I don’t know if I can get my sister back,” said Kaew, “All of us have broken our promise. I don’t think my Chief would forgive me either.”
“I agree,” said Cheewin.
“If only there was one world,” said Sila, “things wouldn’t be like this.”
“We have to think of a plan,” said Cheewin.
“No,” said Kaew, “I’m not one of those people who waste their time thinking of a plan. I just do what I need to do.”
“We’ll just have to try,” continued Sila.
Cheewin looked at Kaew and smiled, “You are one tough lady.”
Kaew smiled back, “I guess.”
“Let’s go,” said Kaew, “There’s no time to waste.”
“But I don’t have anything to bring with me,” said Sila, “The vampires took all of my weapons and supplies. All I have with me is the crystal that Master gave me.”
“What crystal?” asked Kaew.
“Our Master gave it to us to protect ourselves from vampires. I don’t feel like using it, or else it might hurt Grand too,” said Sila.
“Alright,” said Kaew.
“We’ll think about that later,” said Cheewin, “Maybe, you can use some of my weapons.”
Sila nodded.
“Let’s go then,” said Kaew again.
Sila smiled as he walks along with Kaew and Cheewin, hoping to see Grand again.

Throughout the whole time Kaew was walking, she kept thinking, “That’s weird. Sila and Cheewin have a crystal like Grand and me.”
Kaew thought back when she was young, and when her parents were alive.
Kaew and Grand’s parents used to read them a romantic story. It was about a couple who had two crystals.
When they put it together, they turn into loving birds.
Kaew thought if that story was really true. Or was it just some story someone made up?
Kaew thought too much on the way, that she almost trip.
“Are you okay?” asked Cheewin.
“Yes,” said Kaew.
Cheewin smiled at Kaew and she smiled back.

“What do you need?” said Grand, not looking at the Chief.
“Why did you refuse to do what I said?” said the Chief.
“Sorry sir,” said Grand, “Kill me if you want. I don’t have anything in this world anymore. No parents. No more love because someone here has to destroy that for me!”
“Grand…how dare you?” said the Chief, as he was about to slap Grand, but then he stopped.
The Chief looked at Grand as tears were rolling down her cheeks. “How can I hurt such a poor lady?” thought the Chief.
“I’m going to have to do this,” said the Chief.
“Go ahead,” said Grand, “Do anything you want with me. I don’t care.”
“Guards, keep her lock up and never let her out. After that, we’ll go find Kaew. If she refuses like you, she’ll be locked up with you,” said the Chief.
“No, I don’t want you to ruin Kaew’s relationship,” yelled Grand and the guards were pulling her away.
“And about the boys, I’ll decide if we let them go, or eat them,” said the Chief.
“No,” yelled Grand, as she was pulled through the doorway.

“How far is it until we get to the vampire’s place?” asked Sila.
“About weeks,” replied Kaew, “But for vampires, it doesn’t take long if you run or fly. But I don’t want to right now, because you guys are humans.”
Sila was so worried about Grand that he can’t even walk straight.
“Don’t worry, Sila,” said Kaew, “We’ll find Grand soon. If I get captured, it’s going to have to be you two.”
Cheewin nodded, “But I won’t let you go to them.”
Kaew smiled with tears, knowing that she’ll get captured.
Cheewin wiped away her tears and said, “I’ll protect you. That’s what I promised remember?”
Kaew nodded and smiled, “Yes.”
“Sila, let’s go find a place to rest. Tomorrow, we’ll start our trip again,” said Cheewin.
“I don’t want to rest. Let’s keep going,” said Sila.
“Sila, you look tired, just rest. Vampires are our people. They won’t hurt Grand at all. I know our Chief won’t dare,” said Kaew.
“You sure?” asked Sila.
“I’m sure. They won’t dare hurt her,” said Kaew.
“They DID hurt her,” said Sila, crying.
“No they didn’t,” said Kaew.
“Yes, they did,” yelled Sila, “They hurt her heart.”
Silence came to Kaew. She sat down on the ground and thought.
“I guess they did hurt her,” said Kaew, quietly.
“Sila, calm down. The vampires won’t even hurt her. And I mean hurt, like hitting her or something,” said Cheewin.
“I’m sorry,” said Kaew.
“It’s okay,” said Sila, “I was a little bit exaggerated.”
“Let’s go find a place to stay,” said Kaew, “Tomorrow we can get back on the road.”
Sila nodded.
Three of them walked away, wondering what would come to them next.
