*COMPLETED* Fah Likit Ruk (Heaven Destined Love)- END [6/25/14]

Chapter 15

After a series of questions and answers, Princess Urassaya had finally caught up with Prin and Nadech's secretive game. There was a lot already unfolded but also a lot yet to be revealed. As much as they wanted to trust Princess Urassaya, Prin and Nadech kept to themselves their knowledge of Morakot and Wasuthep's history. After all, they were sided with Morakot while Princess Urassaya is a royal figure of Wasuthep. They cared too much on the two kingdoms' future than to spill out any information possible to lead Princess Urassaya to suspect otherwise.
"You're a princess," Nadech said to Princess Urassaya. "Keeping you safe is our duty and responsibility. However, with you behaving rashly like this, it's hard for us to perform that task to the best of our ability because we're already trying as hard as we can to keep things on the normal level. You must understand, even though Morakot and Wasuthep are friends, that doesn't mean you can go running around Morakot like that. People here don't know you're a princess and even if you're disguised as a soldier, it's still unsafe."
"And if the people in Morakot's palace knows that you're Princess Urassaya of Wasuthep, they will be shocked," added Prin. "They will be especially shocked to know that you came here with us. It will make all of us look bad."
"I'm sorry," said Princess Urassaya, sadly. "I promise I won't bring trouble to you two again."
Prin and Nadech nodded and smiled at the princess.
"Oh!" exclaimed Princess Urassaya, all of a sudden. "How about Princess Minthida and Nai Prin la? I caused Princess Minthida to misunderstand Nai Prin. I feel so bad!"
"As for that, I told you already that you don't have to worry," said Prin, hopelessly. "Yung ngai, the relationship between Princess Minthida and me is impossible. We're far too different."
"Being different?" asked Princess Urassaya. "If you are referring to your status in society, you are wrong to think that way. No matter what, we're all human and all humans have a heart to love that is free to love anyone. And if it is a crime to love someone like that wholeheartedly then I am at fault too."
"What do you mean by that?" asked Prin.
"Because I am in the same situation as you," replied Princess Urassaya.
She looked up at Nadech, who was leaning on the walls, arms folded. Prin looked from Princess Urassaya to Nadech.
"Mong chun tum mai wa?" Nadech asked Prin.
Prin looked back at Princess Urassaya. Unlike Nadech, Prin knew exactly who Princess Urassaya was referring to. She is in love with Nadech.
"If you're in love, you shouldn't be afraid of it," Princess Urassaya said to Prin. "Even I am daring to face the obstacles."
Nadech shook his head and stood up straight. He shot an angry look at Prin.
"You made a mistake once," he reminded Prin. "I hope you don't make the same mistake again."
He walked away and descended the stairs of Princess Urassaya's house.
"Aie Dech!" Prin called after him.
He followed Nadech down the stairs and outside.
"What the hell is wrong with you?" he asked Nadech.
Nadech turned around angrily.
"Don't forget you turned Phra Jao Sompohb down already!" Nadech exclaimed. "You disagreed to accept Princess Minthida! You were the one that said you're going to let her go!"
"You pity Natwara, don't you?" asked Prin, in a low tone.
"Chai!" bellowed Nadech. "You already know! And you already know I love her too! But the thing is, she loves you! Not me! How can I not pity her when the man of her dreams is standing here confessing love to a different woman?! I want to see Natwara happy, not broken hearted!"
"And you don't think I feel bad about this?!" Prin bellowed back. "I feel terrible!"
"If you feel terrible, then why are you still doing the wrong thing?!" asked Nadech, angrily. "You're about to make the same mistake again! Once we return home, you will never see Princess Minthida again! You give her your heart while you're here but when you're gone, you take it back with you! And what are you going to tell Nat?! Huh?! What're you going to tell Nat?! Are you going to tell her you love Princess Minthida?! Stupid! Princess Minthida is the past. She is history! Nat is your present and your future!"
"YOOD!" Princess Urassaya shrieked as she descended the stairs. "What is wrong with you two?!
She stepped in between the two men and pushed them apart.
"Jao ying," said Nadech, calmly. "This has nothing to do with you."
"Well what if I go back and marry Nat without even loving her?" asked Prin. "What if I go back and marry her? She will be very happy but how about you? Will you be sad? And don't tell me you won't because deep down, I know you will. You love her and you want to see her happy but have you ever thought about your own feelings? Better yet, have you ever thought of other peoples' feelings? If that were to happen, if I were to marry Nat, there will be four people that will be unhappy, two of them being me and Princess Minthida. Do you want to know who the other person will be?"
"Yood!" exclaimed Princess Urassaya, shoving Prin.
"I don't know what you're talking about," said Nadech.
"If you want to know, use your heart," said Prin.
He walked up to Nadech so that they were face to face again.
"I know that you're afraid of not being able to go back home," said Prin. "That's what's making you act this way."
"Chai," Nadech admitted. "Or are you not afraid? Don't you miss home? I know this expedition was like a dream come true for you but do you realize how long we've been stuck in this era? I don't want to be stuck in this era forever. It changes everything because we don't belong in this era."
"It's getting late now," said Prin, changing the subject. "We should return to the palace before it gets any darker."
"I'm not going anywhere until you two reconcile," said Princess Urassaya. "Since I am the one that brought up this subject, I will fix it!"
She stomped into the house without looking back at Prin and Nadech.
"Jao ying!" Nadech called after her.
He and Prin rushed up the house after her.
"What are you doing?" Prin asked her.
"I will stay here," replied Princess Urassaya. "This is my house so you two shouldn't worry about my safety while I'm here. On the positive side, it lightens some of the burdens off your shoulders so you don't have to feel pressured regarding my presence in the palace."
"You can't stay here," said Nadech.
"Why not?" asked Princess Urassaya. "I've stayed here before without any problems!"
"But that was before we knew you were a princess," said Prin. "It's different now."
"It is our responsibility...
"Stop saying that it is your responsibility to take care of me!" exclaimed Princess Urassaya. "I'm so tired of this line! I am not a child! I can take care of myself!"
"Dai," Nadech nodded. "I'll stay here with you. It would be useless for me to go back to the palace anyway."
"What?" asked Prin. "No, you can't do that."
"Tum mai la?" asked Nadech. "If someone asks you, you can tell them I'm taking my younger sister home. I will take Princess Urassaya back to her palace. But you must stay in the palace because if you go missing like that, they'll suspect you."
Prin thought for a moment and nodded. It seemed that the only way to resolve this matter was to escort Princess Urassaya safely back to Wasuthep before the war begins. However, he couldn't just leave Morakot because the only way to prevent the war from happening was to take action himself. He will stop this war for the sake of both kingdoms' safeness. It might change history but he just didn't have the heart to watch the kingdoms crumble before him.
"Aie Dech, do you know what Tuesday next week is?" Prin asked.
Nadech nodded as Princess Urassaya stared suspiciously at both of them.
"The alliance between Wasuthep and Nandawat," replied Nadech.
He had almost forgotten that date in history.
"What are you talking about?" asked Princess Urassaya. "What does the Kingdom of Nandawat have to do with this?"
Prin and Nadech looked at each other.
"Jao ying, I will escort you home first thing tomorrow," said Nadech. "You will know the answer to your question once you're home."
Princess Urassaya was confused. How did these two go from fighting to talking about the Kingdom of Nandawat? What did the Kingdom of Nandawat have to do with any of these problems? What did her safeness have anything to do with political matters? Anxious to find out, she decided to agree to their idea.
"Dai," she nodded.
"You must be careful," Prin told Nadech. "I will let Aie Khao accompany you so that you'll know your way back."
"Okay," said Nadech. "I'll hurry there and hurry back. You must promise me not to do anything crazy. Don't try to change things. Whatever is supposed to happen will happen and everything happens for a reason."
Prin promised but he knew that if he did, the three kingdoms will be in trouble. Hundreds of thousands of people will die and the Kingdom of Morakot will slowly rise to power...and then collapse. Prin wasn't looking forward to witnessing that.
Prin returned to the Morakot palace alone to be greeted by Aie Dum and Aie Khao at the front gates.
"Nai Prin krub!" exclaimed Aie Dum. "Where have you been all day? We've been looking all over for you?"
"I went out for a little walk," Prin lied. "Aie Khao, will you do me a favor?"
Aie Khao stepped forward and nodded once.
"Anything for you sir," he replied.
"Nadech is taking his younger brother home," began Prin. "I need you to go with him and protect them both along the way. Make sure Nadech's younger sister gets to the desination safe and Nadech returns safe as well."
"But Phra Jao Sompohb ordered Aie Dum and I to take care of you, sir," said Aie Khao.
"Aow na," said Prin. "Just do as I say. I have Aie Dum here to serve me but Nadech has no one."
"Come on Aie Khao," said Aie Dum. "Nai Prin and Nai Dech are friends so it makes sense to take care of them both as they are both our masters."
"Khor rup," said Aie Khao. "But where is Nai Dech?"
"I'll draw you a map and you can use it as a guide," replied Prin. "I need you to set off tonight because they will leave early tomorrow morning."
"Khor rup," Aie Khao bowed.

After drawing Aie Khao a map to Princess Urassaya's house, Prin watched him set off in the night. He felt much warmer with Aie Khao accompanying Nadech and Princess Urassaya. Now that one thing was out of the way, Prin could set his mind on the next problem. He decided to take a step ahead of Wasuthep and Nandawat by letting Phra Jao Sompohb in on the alliance first thing tomorrow morning.
"Kau toht na, Aie Dech," said Prin, quietly to himself. "It is necessary for me to do this."
He reached into his pocket and pulled out Princess Minthida's hairpin.
"I promised that I would take care of you," Prin said to the hairpin. "And I will do the best I can."
Princess Minthida approached without making a sound. A few teardrops trickled from her eyes onto her beautiful face, glistening under the moonlight.
"I knew I could count on you," she said, in a squeaky voice.
Prin looked up at her, startled.
"Jao...jao ying," he said. "How long were standing there?"
"Long enough to see you pull out that hairpin and confide to it that promise you made to me," she replied.
Prin couldn't help himself. He rushed up to her and they both hugged.
"I'm so sorry," he said. "As much as I know that this isn't right that I shouldn't have feelings for you, I couldn't distance myself from you. I can't stop worrying about you."
"I believe you," cried Princess Minthida. "You know you hurt me so much when you disagreed to my father. It felt like several knives stabbing at my heart."
"I'm sorry," said Prin.
He looked into her eyes and wiped her tears away.
"Now I know what I'm supposed to do," he told her.
"What are you going to do?" asked Princess Minthida.
"You will know tomorrow morning," replied Prin.
He kissed her on the forehead and held onto her tightly under the moonlight and starry skies. He once promised her that as long as he was alive, he will take care of her. He promised that as long as he was alive, he will not let anything bad happen to Morakot. Even if this would alter the course of history, he will do it.

A small but mighty kingdom, Nandawat borders northern Wasuthep. The Kingdom of Nandawat has long eyed the precious jewels and natural resources of the Kingdom of Morakot. Since the Wasuthep-Morakot border issue, Nandawat is one step closer to achieving their goal of seizing Morakot. They laugh at Morakot for believing there are still strong ties between the two countries. This was a chance for Nandawat to side with Wasuthep in order to take over Morakot.
"This isn't a small matter," King Mata said to his son, Prince Nattawut. "Morakot wholeheartedly believes that we're still allies with them. If we side with the Kingdom of Nandawat now, it is a great opportunity for us to immediately attack and seize the precious land of Morakot. What do you think?"
"Aren't you afraid that Nandawat will cheat us?" Prince Nattawut asked his father.
Despite his young age, Prince Nattawut was indeed a wise prince.
"Phra Jao Pongwilai ensures that there will be a 50/50 profit," replied Phra Jao Mata.
"Well how do we know that he isn't lying?" asked Prince Nattawut. "Right now, we are still on good terms with Morakot but since the border issue just happened, don't you think they will be more careful and have tighter patrol along their borders?"
Phra Jao Mata stroked his mustache and nodded with a slight smile.
"You are wise my son," he said to Prince Nattawut. "We must first establish strong ties with Morakot."
"How are we supposed to do that?" Prince Nattawut asked. "We have accepted their gift of maintaining the friendship of our kingdoms but I speculate that they will be more careful."
"We must take another step," said the King. "We will turn that friendship bond into a family bond. You must wed Princess Minthida."
Prince Nattawut was taken aback by his father's response. If it was for relation purposes, then he must oblige.

"Nothing," said Pakorn. "Nothing at all."
After all their hard work and dedication to uncovering evidences regarding Prin and Nadech's disappearance, everything seemed even more hopeless now. Even though they didn't flip the forest upside as Pakorn said they would, they walked through and searched the forest for ten hours, not counting their breaks.
"Don't give up hope just yet," said Nattaporn. "We might not find anything today but that doesn't mean there isn't aren't any evidence or clues at all. We don't find anything today; we come back again another day. I'm sure we will find something."
"You really have that much time?" Pakorn asked.
"I'm not going to give up on this case that easily," said Nattaporn.
"You're beginning to make more sense now," said Pakorn.
"Nee, khun, this isn't a time to law len," said Nattaporn, pointing a finger at him.
Pakorn tossed her a bottle of water from the back of her Jeep and grabbed one for himself. Nattaporn took a drink and noticed the dark, grey clouds overhead.
"Seems like there's going to be a storm soon," she said, capping her water bottle.
"We should hurry and get out of here then," said Pakorn.
Nattaporn threw her stuff into the back of the Jeep and hopped into the driver's side while Pakorn got into the passenger's seat.
"Oho," said Pakorn, as he buckled himself and looked into the rearview mirror. "The sky is getting darker."
"Let's get out of here," said Nattaporn, starting the engine.
They drove out of the forest before the first raindrop fell to the ground.

Chapter 16

There was probably nothing worse than wanting to solve a problem but not knowing how to do it, and not to mention, multiple problems. History seemed to be so much easier when Prin was doing the readings and reseraching but now that things were hands-on, life seemed much more complicated.
Prin had no idea how he was going to approach Phra Jao Sompohb about the upcoming matter regarding Wasuthep-Nandawat alliance without making it so suspicious that he knew about things before they were going happen. Most importantly, he didn't want to let Princess Minthida go. Even though it contrasts from his previous dcision, Prin knew she would be upset at him. He would be upset with himself too because from day one, Princess Minthida had been embedded deep in his heart. She was his world now and even if he had to change history, he wasn't going to let her marry Prince Nattawut. Finally, after a moment of contempation, it had hit Prin. He would use this ground-breaking decision to solve the problems. It would solve everything.
"What did you say?!" Phra Jao Sompohb roared.
"I...I change my mind about Princess Minthida," Prin replied.
Since it was a one on one discussion, he felt more comfortable speaking his heart. He had always wanted to say those words and now was the chance to let it all out.
"Then why did you disagree to it in the first place?" asked Phra Jao Sompohb.
"I wasn't sure if it was what I really wanted," replied Prin. "I am a foreigner and I thought that one day if I were to return home, both Princess Minthida and I would be deeply depressed. Now, I've made up my mind that I will stay here forever and take care of both Princess Minthida and Morakot the best I can and to the best of my ability."
"You still haven't told me where you're from," said Phra Jao Sompohb. "I remember Princess Minthida telling me that you have memory loss. What if you gain your memory back one day and realize that all you've done was no intended?"
"I am following my heart," replied Prin. "Therefore, I am sure that this is what I want."
"Even if that is so, what makes you think that I will give Princess Minthida to you now?" asked Phra Jao Sompohb. "Do you think this is a game? Do you think my daughter is something you can play with?"
"I never thought...
"Say no more!" barked Phra Jao Sompohb, raising up his righ thand for Prin to stop talking. "I will not give my daughter to you!"
This was not what Prin expected. After the confrontation with the King, he walked out of the court hall feeling hopeless and heartbroken. He didn't know what to do anymore. Prin initally thought that if he beat Prince Nattawut to the proposal for Princess Minthida, it would change things. Princess Minthida didn't have to suffer as emphasized in history books because her marriage to Prince Nattawut was not meant to be a blissful one.

"Are you hungry?"
"I'm not hungry."
"Are you thirsty?"
"No."
"Do you want to take a break?"
"Mai."
"What's wrong with you?"
Princess Urassaya looked angrily at Nadech. How dare he ask her all these questions when he was the one that wanted to get rid of her? She couldn't believe she fell for him. As much as she wanted to be with him, he wants to get rid of her. It was too late to restrain her heart from loving him now.
"Are you hot?" he asked.
"Stop!" she shrieked. "Just stop it! Stop pretending like you care!"
She stomped away angrily leaving Nadech and Aie Khao stunned.
"What's wrong with him?" asked Aie Khao. "Aie Rath seems...
"Leave it to me," said Nadech. "You stay put here."
Nadech ran after Princess Urassaya. they reached a beautiful waterfall in the middle of a forest.
"Jao ying!" he called out after her. "Jao ying! Wait for me!"
"Leave me alone!" she yelled at him. "Why do you have to follow me?!"
"What's wrong with you?" he asked, catching up to her.
She stopped at the edge of the water and turned around to face him.
"Why are you so angry at me?" Nadech asked. "I don't understand. You seemed fine earlier."
"You don't understand anything!" exclaimed Princess Urassaya. "You don't even understand your own friend!"
"What does Aie Prin have to do with this?" asked Nadech. "You're really confusing me now."
"You don't understand what love is," said Princess Urassaya, tearfully. "You don't understand what sacrifice is. Do you ever put yourself in other peoples' shoes? Do you know how it feels when you love someone but know that that kind of love is impossible?"
Nadech suddenly thought of Natwara. Of course he knew what that kind of love felt like. He had always loved Natwara even though he knew it was impossible because she only loves Prin.
"I do," replied Nadech. "I know what that feels like. What I don't understand is why you're so upset by this?"
"Because I don't understand why you're against Nai Prin and Princess Minthida's love!" exclaimed Princess Urassaya. "You're not able to control yourself from loving that Natwara woman either! How and why do you expect Nai Prin to restrain himself from loving Princess Minthida?!"
"You don't understand!" Nadech shouted. "Do you know how much Natwara loves Aie Prin? No, you don't! I pity Nat! She loves someone who doesn't deserve her!"
"And you think that she deserves you?! You're self-centered Nai Dech! You're self-centered!" Princess Urassaya bellowed.
"Yood!" Nadech exclaimed.
He didn't want to hear it and he wasn't going to have this fight.
"Chun mai yood!" shrieked Princess Urassaya, angrily. "It's the truth! Admit it that you can't handle the truth!"
Without notice, Nadech dashed towards Princess Urassaya, grabbed her, and forced a passionate kiss on her lips. Her hat fell off as she struggled to fight him off, revealing her long, brown, wavy hair. Finally, he let her go and apologized.
"I'm sorry," he said, quietly. "I don't know why...
Before he could finish, she struck him hard on the left side of his face.
"I hope I knocked some sense into you," she said tearfully at him.
Nadech grabbed her arm as she walked away.
"I'm so sorry," he said, apologetically. "I don't know why I did that."
Perhaps, it was due to his anger. It happened so quickly that Nadech didn't understand why. Whatever the reason was, it felt good. Nadech had never felt like that before.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I've never felt like that before."
Jarinporn listened closely as Natwara explained her dream.
"It felt as though I was actually there," Natwara told Jarinporn. "I saw Prin and Nadech arguing but I don't know what they were arguing about. They were standing in front of an old house, similar to the one where you would film a historical lakorn. The weird thing was that they were both wearing the clothes that they wore on the day they disappeared."
"Laew ngai?" asked Jarinporn. "It is a dream."
"Mai na," Natwara shook her head. "I really felt that I was there. We must find that house. Something tells me that Prin and Nadech are there."
"But we don't know where that house is," said Jarinporn.
"We must look for it," said Natwara. "I am sure that this dream isn't just a dream. It's like a lead."
"Well do you remember the surroundings of that house?" Jarinporn asked.
She believed that there probably wasn't a house that fit Natwara's description but in order to make Natwara feel better, she must play along.
"I don't know," replied Natwara. "I think we should start at the forest though."
"If that's so, we should ask Khun Phupoom and P'Korn to go with us," Jarinporn suggested.
She didn't want to tell Natwara that Pakorn and Officer Nattaporn recently investigated that forest. Nevertheless, there was still a slim possibility of something positive because Pakorn and Officer Nattaporn didn't examine the whole forest. As big as that forest was, anything could be there.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

While writing in his journal, Prin reacted to the sounds of rushing footsteps outside his chamber. Along with it were sobbing and sniffling sounds. Prin opened his door but before he could do or say anything at all, a crying Princess Minthida threw her arms around his neck.
"Jao...jao ying," he said, patting her back.
She released him and looked into his eyes.
"Why didn't you tell me that Jao Khun Phor disagreed this time?" she asked tearfully.
"Because I knew you would act this way," Prin replied. "Besides, I'd rather you hear it from him than from me."
"Come on," Princess Minthida said, grabbing his right hand. "We will go to him now and tell him how we feel. He will understand."
She tried to drag him out of the bedroom but he just stood there with a hopeless expression on his face.
"Come on," she urged.
Prin pulled Princess Minthida back into his arms and hugged her.
"No matter what we say or do, your father will never agree to it now," Prin told her.
"He thinks I played you when in reality, I was at an inner battle with myself. I'm sorry because it's my fualt to begin with. If I left here in the first place, none of this would've happened."
She pushed him back.
"Are you saying that you regret this?" she asked him. "Are you saying that you regret meeting me?"
"No," Prin quickly replied. "I don't regret any of this. Meeting you was the best thing that happened in my life. However, our love is impossible."
"I don't understand," said Princess Minthida.
"You're not meant for me," said Prin. "We're not meant to be together. You're...
Prin gulped. He couldn't help it. He couldn't hide his feelings and emotions any longer. Even though he knew that Princess Minthida was meant to be with another man, a prince, he couldn't hold back his feelings.
"Chun...
Prin grabbed Princess Minthida's face and kissed her on the lips. Then, he planted another kiss on her forehead.
"I don't know how to explain all these things to you," he said. "What I do know is that our love is real and I want you to understand that too. My feelings for you have never changed only that I love you more and more each day."
Tomorrow was another day and no matter what would happen, he still loves her. He would just have to wait and witness the day she marries Prince Nattawut. Whatever is meant to be is meant to be. After all, he couldn't change history.

Chapter 17

Awkward is the perfect word to describe Princess Urassaya and Nadech at the moment. Since they kissed, there has been no communication whatsoever between them, not even eye contact. Nadech felt so sorry but as much as he wanted to apologize dearly to Princess Urassaya, she probably wouldn't listen to him. She didn't even look at him throughout the rest of their journey. Nadech, on the other hand, glanced at her every now and then to see if her facial expressions changed at all.
Aie Khao looked back and forth at the two numerous times before having the guts to break the long silence. He tapped on Nadech's shoulder.
"Arai," said Nadech, turning around to face him.
"I think something isn't right," said Aie Khao.
"Why?" Nadech looked around. "Are we going the wrong way or something?"
"Mai chai khor rup," Aie Khao shook his head.
He nodded his head towards Princess Urassaya and Nadech quickly looked the other way.
"You two haven't been interacting the whole time," said Aie Khao so that only Nadech would hear.
"There's really nothing to talk about," said Nadech.
Princess Urassaya stopped walking and shot an angry look at both Nadech and Aie Khao.
"Chai," she said. "There's nothing to talk about. The more you talk to people who don't understand, the more time you're wasting."
"Oho," said Aie Khao.
"If you're angry at me, you can take it out on me," Nadech said to Princess Urassaya. "I feel uncomfortable when you say nothing at all."
"Even if I take it out on you, you won't feel anything at all," said Princess Urassaya, her voice rising slightly. "You don't even seem to have feelings."
"Er...jao nai khor rup," said Aie Khao, tugging on Nadech's shirt sleeve. "Let's...
"Yood!" Nadech yelled at him. "Go get me some water!"
Aie Khao seemed disturbed and shocked.
"Khor rup," he quickly said, and scurried away.
"Why did you send him away to get water?" asked Princess Urassaya. "This is wasting time!"
"I can't handle it anymore," said Nadech. "You haven't spoken to me the whole time. Do you know how much that bothers me?"
"Arai na?" Princess Urassaya asked.
She was on the verge of tears. Nadech felt uneasy and looked at the ground. He didn't know why he just said that. Why does it bother him that Princess Urassaya wasn't speaking to him? He did not know. His feelings at the moment were inexplicable.
"I don't know," said Nadech, finally. "Just take it that I'm sorry. I'm sorry for kissing you!"
"Other than saying sorry, is there anything else you know how to say?" asked Princess Urassaya.
"I...uh...
"Nai krub!"
Aie Khao ran up to them happily with a canteen full of water. He handed it to Nadech, who looked away and kept walking.
"Aow, Nai Dech!" Aie Khao called out.
"Just give it to Nai Rath," Nadech told Aie Khao. "He's been walking all day and haven't had any water. Perhaps it might cool him down."
There was so much Nadech wanted to talk over with Princess Urassaya but he was unsure how to word it. He wasn't sure what to say. As a matter of fact, he didn't even know how he felt. He was beginning to not understand himself. However, there is one that he realized...he never felt this way towards Natwara. Perhaps, this is what people call love? No, no, no! Nadech closed his eyes and shook his head wildly. He can't love Princess Urassaya. He loves Natwara. He must remember that Natwara is waiting for him to come home. No, she's waiting for Aie Prin to come home! She loves Aie Prin!
"AHHH!!!"
Nadech screamed from the top of his lungs and ran as fast as he could. His mind was going berserk. He was going insane. Nadech came upon a stream and jumped in it to cool himself down mentally.
"Nat, Nat," he chanted. "I don't know what to do."
"What the hell is wrong with you?!"
Nadech looked up and saw Princess Urassaya.
"I can't do this," he told her.
"Look, I don't know what's wrong with you but we've got only a few kilometers left before we reach the Wasuthep palace," said Princess Urassaya. "And when we get there, don't you worry, you'll be able to get rid of me happily as you wish. I won't bother you again."
"Stop it!" exclaimed Nadech, shaking his head and covering his ears.
A little part of him told him that he didn't want to lose Princess Urassaya. He wanted her by his side.
"Nee!" she shouted. "You have no right to raise your voice at me, Nai Dech! I command you to...AH!"
Within a blink of an eye, she had slipped into the stream. Nadech caught her and held her close up to his arms. They were face to face and their eyes met. Nadech felt his heart pounding.
"Nai...nai...
"I don't know how to explain," Nadech panted. "I don't know why I feel this way. I don't want to lose you. Can you not return to the palace?"
Princess Urassaya smiled and threw her arms around his neck. He held onto to her tightly.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered in her ear. "I'm so sorry for being foolish and selfish. I didn't understand myself and what I wanted. I'm sorry."
A few teardrops slid down Princess Urassaya's beautiful face and into the stream of water.
"You scared me while ago," she squeaked.
Nadech smiled and held onto her tighter.

"Nai! Nai Prin khor rup!"
Prin opened his bedroom door for Aie Dum.
"What's up?" he asked.
Aie Dum panted, opened his mouth to speak but no words came out.
"What's wrong with you?" Prin asked him.
"Phra...Phra...Phra Jao Mata gub Jao Chai...Chai Nattawut are here," said Aie Dum, finally.
Prin's eyes widened. He didn't expect them to be so early. Before Aie Dum could say anything else, Prin dashed out of the door and ran to the court hall, where everyone was gathered to welcome the King and Prince of Wasuthep. He looked around for Princess Urassaya but she was no where to be seen.
"Yoo nai wa, Aie Dech?" Prin muttered under his breath. "You should be there by now."
Prin spotted Phra Jao Mata and the handsome Prince Nattawut. He didn't want to witness this. Instead of going in, Prin backed away into the courtyard outside and left the palace. It was finally happening. He didn't expect history to be this dramatic.
Prin wandered around the Emerald Kingdom the remainder of the day, confused and hopeless. When nightfall came, he went to Princess Urassaya's house and sat down on the steps. He covered his face in his hands and began to think.
"There must be a way out," he told himself. "There must be."
"Nai Prin!"
Prin looked up and saw Aie Khao running towards him. Following Aie Khao were Nadech and Princess Urassaya! Prin jolted towards them.
"Aie Dech, what the hell is this?!" he exclaimed. "What the hell are you doing?! She's supposed to be with her father and brother, is she not?!"
"Aie Prin, chun...chun...
"Don't you know how dangerous this is if she's spotted with you?" Prin asked him.
"Nai Prin."
"Don't you know that the war is about to begin?" he asked, ignoring Princess Urassaya.
"Nai Prin!" Princess Urassaya shrieked. "Listen to me! You're overreacting! I don't know what you two are hiding from me and I don't understand what you're talking about! I don't know why it's so important that I return home. I am telling you now...
"Your father and brother are here in the Morakot palace," said Prin, interrupting her. "They're going to propose to Phra Jao Sompohb for Princess Minthida's hand in marriage. Your brother is going to marry Princess Minthida. And it's not just for relations but Wasuthep is planning to seize Morakot and in the end, Wasuthep will lose!"
"Wh...wha...what did you say?" asked Princess Urassaya. "How do you know this?"
"I already told you that Aie Dech and I are from the future," Prin replied. "You didn't believe us."
He shook his head and turned around.
"It's happening now," he said.
"Mai jing," said Princess Urassaya.
A teardrop trickled from her face onto the ground. She looked at Nadech.
"If your father and brother sees you with us, sees you in Morakot, we'll be in trouble," said Prin. "That's why it's better for you to stay home in your palace where it's safe for all of us. But it doesn't matter anymore because history is history. It's supposed to be this way."
"I will go see my father now," said Princess Urassaya, charging in the direction of the Morakot palace.
"No, you can't!" exclaimed Nadech, grabbing her arm. "If you do that, he'll suspect Aie Prin and me!"
"If that's so, I'll return to the palace with you two," she suggested.
"You must promise to keep a low profile," said Prin.
"Chai," added Nadech. "Your father and brother cannot know that you're in Morakot."
Princess Urassaya sighed and looked up at the moon.
"Why does everything have to be complicated like this?"

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"Nat, are you sure about this?" asked Pakorn, slapping a tree branch to the side to clear his view.
"Cops searched this forest many times already," said Phupoom. "If there really is a house, wouldn't you think they found it?"
Jarinporn glanced at Pakorn and Phupoom and shook her head.
"Mai chuay gun loey na," she said to them.
"Chai," agreed Officer Nattaporn. "Either way, we must keep a positive mind."
"How far are we going to go in?" asked Phupoom.
"Mai roo," replied Natwara. "I must find that house today. If I don't find that house, I will not quit searching."
Pakorn shook his head and kept walking.
"Nee, khun," he said to Officer Nattaporn. "This is the same place that we passed through the other day, isn't it?"
Natwara turned to look at both of them.
"Since when?" she asked Pakorn.
"Uh...last week," Pakorn replied.
"We didn't finish though," Nattaporn quickly added. "We had to get out of the storm."
"Uh chai," Pakorn agreed.
They walked a little bit further into the forest and noticed that the sky was getting darker, once again. There was thunder in the distance and the crew was pretty sure that it would be followed by lighting then a storm.
"Oho," said Phupoom, looking up at the sky. "I hope we find that house before the storm hits. I don't want to go through the same shit again."
Jarinporn slapped him on the shoulder.
"Bpaak sia," she said.
"Mai dai," said Officer Nattaporn, stopping in her tracks. "We must get out of here and head back to the campgrounds immediately. It's better to be cautious than to be sorry later."
"No," said Natwara, instantly. "I must find that house first."
"Nat, there is no house," said Pakorn.
"There must be," said Natwara.
"What if there isn't?" asked Phupoom.
Suddenly, there was strike of lightning and rain began to pour down.
"Damn," said Phupoom.
He held up his arms and shielded Jarinporn.
"We need to get out of here," said Pakorn, turning to Officer Nattaporn.
"Let's go into that tunnel!" Natwara called through the loud, heavy rain.
"I don't see it!" exclaimed Nattaporn.
"I don't see it either!" Phupoom called out.
"I suggest we get out of here now!" Pakorn yelled.
Natwara ignored them and continued walking forward.
"P'Nat! Let's go!" Jarinporn called out.
They all stood there and watched shockingly as Nattaporn was sucked into the storm. Within seconds, the sky cleared up and Natwara was nowhere to be seen.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Prin and Nadech returned to the palace followed by Princess Urassaya and Aie Khao. Since Aie Khao had witnessed their unexpected argument earlier, Prin made him promise that he would tell no one about it. Aie Khao swore that he wouldn't and Prin was a bit relieved.
"I'm gonna go for a walk," Prin told them. "I can't sleep."
Nadech nodded. Prin even sent Aie Dum and Aie Khao to sleep. For the past week, Prin felt like a total insomniac. There was so much going on and so much on his mind that he came to realize that he haven't achieved anything at all. He walked to the gardens and picked a white rose. Prin remembered when he gave Princess Minthida that same rose that day, the same day he made the promise to her.
"You must be satisfied now."
Prin was startled. Princess Minthida was standing before him, her tears glistening under the moonlight and bright stars. She walked up to him and struck him across the left side of his face.
"Is this what you wanted?" she asked him. "You knew this was going to happen. You knew and you didn't tell me. After all we've been through and all the promises you made, you throw it all away? Is this what you really want? I am so disappointed in you."
They say words hurt more than actions. Prin wasn't only hurt by this but he too, was disappointed in himself.
"I'm sorry," he said, weakly.
"My father is right," she said. "You see all this as a game. My heart is just a toy for you to play with and when you don't it anymore, you throw it away."
"No," said Prin, shaking his head. "That's not true. I love you and I never wanted all this to happen. We're just...not meant to be together. You're a princess. You're meant to be with a prince not a commoner like me. I'm just a normal human being that is powerless. All I have is my heart, in which I gave it all to you already. You will never understand me."
"I don't understand you?" Princess Minthida asked, tearfully. "How about you? Do you understand me? Nevermind, don't answer that because you don't even understand yourself. How could you understand other people?"
She turned around leaving Prin feeling completely useless and heartbroken. It took him a while to realize that she was indeed right. He doesn't understand himself. He never has. His heart longs for her but he is still afraid.
"Diew!" he called out after her.
Prin ran after her until they reached her chamber. She slammed the door shut in his face. He knew that if he knocked, she wouldn't open. Since no one was around, Prin went around to the side of her bedroom and climbed up through her open window.
"How dare you trespass into my bedroom?!" she exclaimed at him. "Get out!"
She pushed him until his back hit the door.
"I'm not going anywhere until we clear things up," said Prin.
"If you don't get out, I will scream for help," she threatened him.
"Go ahead," he said. "I dare you."
She looked at him with tears in her eyes.
"You're right," Prin began. "I didn't understand myself. I was fool. I was dumb. I shouldn't have let everything go with the flow. I'll admit that I was afraid. But do you know what? There is one thing that I am sure about. That is, I love you. I'm sorry."
She pushed him away again but his grip was too strong. He went in for a kiss.
"I love you," said Prin. "No matter what happens, I am yours. I will be by your side."
They kissed again and Princess Minthida let him passionately move down to her neck. Then, he picked her up and placed her on the bed. They were lost in their own world as if there would be no tomorrow.

Chapter 18

"Where have you been all night?"
Prin put his hands on his hips and looked away from Nadech.
"Why are you looking like that?" Nadech asked trying to get a good glimpse of Prin's face.
Prin felt himself go red. He felt uncomfortable about the whole situation because he wasn't planning on telling Nadech that he had finally bonded with Princess Minthida. The only problem was, he couldn't seem to find a good lie.
"I...uh...
"Why are you blushing?" asked Nadech. "It's not that hot this morning."
"I...
"Oh nevermind," said Nadech. "I can already guess. You've been walking around the palace all night huh?"
Prin nodded. That was a good assumption.
"I understand how you're feeling right now," began Nadech. "Even I am beginning to understand myself now. I just want to...to apologize for the misunderstandings in the past. I know that you have no intentions of hurting Nat but I was too stupid to realize that I was really self-centered. I love Natwara but I finally realized that my feelings for her are not romance but...
"Are you done speaking yet?" asked Prin, interrupting. "We're friends, remember? Friends don't apologize to each other because they understand each other."
Nadech smiled and patted Prin on the shoulder.
"So I'm assuming you and Princess Urassaya are on the same page now?" asked Prin.
Nadech nodded.
"Come to think of it, I don't think I want to go home anymore," he said. "It seems to be impossible for us to return home anyway."
"I'm glad you think that way," said Prin, sitting down on the last few steps to the house. "I've thought the same way a long time ago. There is no way back."
"I wonder how everyone else is doing," said Nadech. "Are they still looking for us?"
Prin suddenly thought of his parents and younger sister, Jarinporn. He was going to miss them dearly and he was sure they miss him too.
"I never thought that my life would turn out this way," said Nadech. "Almost feels like a fairytale in a lakorn, huh? Pra'ek travels to the past and meets a princess, who is his nang'ek. Ends up stuck in the past forever because he chooses to stay with his love. This is unbelievable."
"Chai," Prin agreed. "It is...only you're luckier than I am. There is still a small possibility for you and Princess Urassaya but for me and Princess Minthida, there's no way for us. Soon, she will have to marry Prince Nattawut."
"Aie Prin, I thought you were smarter than that," said Nadech. "Now that we've decided on living in the past, you must not think about history anymore. This is our present time now and you must be ready to face the new challenges and obstacles that is about to happen in your life. So what if Princess Minthida and Prince Nattawut is supposedly married according to history. Now that you're here, in this era, you can change that."
Prin felt as though a bucket of ice water had been poured on him. Nadech was right. So what if they were to alter history? It wouldn't and couldn't affect them anyway since they couldn't return home.

“Jao chai khor rup, you seem to be very bothered. In a few days, you will be married to Princess Minthida and our two kingdoms will finally be at peace. May I ask why you seem unhappy?”
Prince Nattawut looked aside to his bodyguard, Thad, and let out a heavy sigh. His feelings and emotions must be very obvious if even his Thad can see through him.
“You can tell, huh?” asked Prince Nattawut. “Chai, I am unhappy.”
“Why khor rup?” asked Thad. “This marriage will be a good thing.”
“To be honest with you, I do not wish to be married,” replied Prince Nattawut, honestly. “I’m not ready. However, a royal decree is a royal decree and I must consent to it. Even if I do not want to, I must do it. Even soldiers sacrifice their lives to serve their countries. Why can’t I, a prince, do the same?”
“As far as I know, Princess Minthida is very beautiful and an intelligent young woman,” said Thad. “She is the perfect match for you.”
“Yes, Princess Minthida is beautiful and intelligent but I must not look only at those qualities,” said Prince Nattawut.
He stopped before a cart of fresh fruits and picked up an apple.
“When you look at something, you must not look only at the outside but also the inside,” said Prince Nattawut, turning the apple around and inspecting it with this right hand. “What matters the most is the inside.”
Just when Prince Nattawut was about to put the apple back down, a beautiful young woman fell from the sky right in front of him on the cart of fresh fruits. Her sudden and strange appearance attracted the attention of market-goers and vendors all around. What was stranger were her clothes.
“She…she…
“What are you waiting for?” Prince Nattawut asked Thad. “Pick her up and let’s get out of here.”
“Khor rup,” nodded Thad.
For the sake of their safeness and order in the palace, Prince Nattawut and Thad decided not to return just yet. Instead, they settled at a nearby inn and tried to figure the strange woman out. As instructed by the prince, Thad brought in a bowl of warm water and new towel.
“Leave it to me,” said Prince Nattawut. “You go stand guard outside.”
“Khor rup,” said Thad, and he left the room.
Prince Nattawut looked at the woman’s face and as if it were an instinct, his heart pounded. He was struck by her beauty.
“Who are you?” he whispered to the unconscious woman on the bed.
Prince Nattawut dipped the towel in the bowl of warm water, squeezed off the excess water and gently wiped the dirt off the woman’s face. Her hair was a bit wet and her clothes slightly damp. Her clothes. He must change her into new clothes before she catches a cold or even worse, pneumonia. His heart pounded even harder and when he felt uneasy, the prince looked away immediately. How was he supposed to change her when he is a guy and she is a woman? Prince Nattawut sighed and called for Thad.
“Go buy some new clothes for her and when you come back, ask a maid here to help change her,” Prince Nattawut instructed.
Thad nodded and went immediately.
Prince Nattawut looked back at the woman and wondered who she was, where she came from, and how she ended up in the current state she was in. Whoever she was, she had already captured his heart the first time he saw her.

“Again?! This can’t be happening! It’s…it’s impossible!”
Pakorn couldn’t say this enough. It had been months since Prin and Nadech went missing and now Natwara was gone too. They hadn’t even a clue on Prin and Nadech yet!
“Toh, P’Nat,” said Jarinporn in a hopeless tone.
“Do you think that Khun Natwara has found Khun Prin and Khun Nadech?” asked Officer Nattaporn.
“Nee, khun tumruat, do you use your brains or what?” asked Pakorn, smartly. “We all saw that Khun Nat was swallowed into that storm. Are you blind?”
Officer Nattaporn shot an annoyed look at Pakorn and turned to Ajarn Krerk.
“Ajarn, what must we do now?” she asked him.
Ajarn Krerk shook his head.
“We do nothing,” he replied. “There is nothing we can do as we all saw what happened. This is unbelievable but we all saw it so it’s real.”
Ajarn Krerk was still shaken and distraught after witnessing his own daughter disappear before his very own eyes. He was right, though. It was clear that there was nothing they could do now since they know that Prin, Nadech, and Natwara were all swallowed up and disappeared in a storm. As unbelievable and shocking as it was, seeing is believing.
